Google Ads is smarter than you think. It knows Obama ads would be useless here.

I think Obama went for a site type specific ad buyout. For example, ads would only appear on sites google ads has listed as political sites, ect.

McCain meanwhile seems to have a keyword specific buyout. So it doesn't matter what the site is, just whether a certain keyword is mentioned or not (in this case McCain probably). You can usually tell the difference between the two by seeing if the ad appears throughout a site or just on certain pages

God, the banner ads here with Lieberman are just there on purpose to piss me off, aren't they?
Y'know, if they piss you off, you can always just click on them once in a while. McCain gets to pay GAF for the honor of pissing you off.

It's remarkable how polarized this election will be age-wise. Unfortunately older people vote more often.
I have a feeling this election will be a piece of anecdotal evidence speaking to the contrary :D

Oh Jesus, I love McCain's website.

Obama's family timeline goes back to 1961.

McCain? Goes back to 1840! :lol :lol

But Obama was born in 1961. Is McCain implying that he was likewise born in 1840? :lol

Wee bit of an enthusiasm gap there.

How has the fund raising gone? Last I read the Democratic convention fund raising was running behind.

See, this is where I'm getting confused. Apparently, Obama's making a ton of money (see here) for the campaign, especially compared to McCain. Last I heard, the DNC was a little light, but I thought this was all pooled, since the RNC raised $45 Million last month and it's apparently going to be used for the campaign.

I haven't heard anything new from the Dem side about their convention, and they just released a partial Convention Week schedule, so I assume it's been taken care of.

From May 26:

http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/05/convention-fundraising-still-lagging.html

The Denver host committee for the Democratic National Convention is behind on raising the money it needs to transform the Mile High City into the focal point of American politics for four days in late August, just three months away.

The host committee needs to raise $40.6 million by June 16. It fell $5 million short on its most recent deadline, March 17, by which point the host committee promised to raise $28 million, according to its contract with the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC).
...
Members of the Denver host committee concede the lack of clarity in the Democratic field has been a factor in their fundraising struggles, but only one of many.

“You’ve also got to look at the economy, you’ve got to look at [the fact that] Denver’s got seven Fortune 500 companies. That’s one-third the number Minneapolis has,” Denver Mayor John W. Hickenlooper told CQ Politics.
...
“Other host cities had a candidate to work with to rally around. We don’t. But I can’t say that that’s hurt us or not, it’s just a fact of the cycle that we’re in,” said Chris Lopez, a spokesman for the Denver host committee.
...
Lopez said the Denver host committee was ahead of where the Boston host committee was at the same point for the 2004 convention and that they felt confident they would meet their fundraising obligations.

“There’s not panic. It’ll come. We’re moving the needle, we’re trending ahead of where Boston was and we feel really good about that. . . . We expect here at the finish line that we definitely will hit the numbers,” he said. - CQPolitics

That was the last update I've read. I suspect things have worked themselves out, but I'm still looking for confirmation.

One of the reasons th GOP is terrified of having McCain as its candidate is the very real danger he will never say anything predictable for more than two consecutive appearances. It is one of their biggest hurdles.

He is very old, lacks curiosity, terrible memory and lousy basic grasp of foreign policy and relations. Smarter than Bush in a lot of ways, but no better at talking.

Oh my god.

These are great white balls, I for one am glad that John McCain supports these balls. The only problem is that you can't lie with these balls, once you do some guy who looks and sounds like the emperor from Star Wars corrects you on camera.

Also I'm glad to see John McCain persevere and support a game that requires arms to be raised above shoulders to play. I know that John McCain will be a great president since that this great country will be regulated down to his VP since he'll have to take regular Matlock breaks, and with the on set of alzheimers causing him to screw up leaders of different countries, it'll be like a new President every day!

---------------------------------------

When I think "McCain," I think "old balls and loose skin." These balls were pretty much straight out of the factory, and there was no lose skin at all. What a bunch of bull!

---------------------------------------

I love this kit. I appreciate the compartment for my soiled Depends(TM).

When are you going to offer a Joe Lieberman Certified McCain Ballwasher?

The split field hurt DNC fundraising because they couldn't have joint fundraisers with the nominee if the nominee wasn't decided yet. Since it's clear now, they should now be able to raise a ton. Case in point, Obama will be holding a joint fundraiser in 2 weeks in Los Angeles to raise money for both his campaign and the DNC:

http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/06/obama_heads_to_los_angeles_for.html
"Barack Obama will return to Los Angeles on June 24 for his first fund-raiser in the area since claiming the Democratic nomination.

"The event --- certain to a big draw in the Hollywood and L.A. fund-raising community --- will be held at the Los Angeles Music Center in downtown Los Angeles, although the exact venue is being worked out, according to a source with knowledge of the plans. It will start at 5 p.m., and is being organized for a crowd of about 1,000. Obama will be raising money for a victory fund via Democratic National Committee, meaning that donors can max out to $28,500 apiece."

Ah. Thank you, sir. That helps clear it up a bit.

Also, regarding the fundraising, and just to add to what numble said, I haven't seen any DNC numbers for May, but I know there were at least 3 fundraisers for the DNC held last month. And if Obama's "Challenge McCain and the RNC" counter is any indicator, they're going to clean up this month now that the ship is running straight.

Please Obama, please do something for the public in Los Angeles. I was always out of town when he came around. Kinda doubt it though.

I think you mean the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).

In which yes, DSCC > NRSC

Something I learned from talking to people who did it, though it probably will be a bit harder in some place as big as Los Angeles (and the event is already somewhat high profile)--if you hang around near where the private event is going to be, there's a chance that he'll come out and "work the ropeline".

At the private event that he had in Beaverton, Oregon (the one where he said he was in 57 states, I believe), I heard a bunch of people just found out where the event was going to be, hung around outside and he came and shook everyone's hand (one guy even said he just looked out his office window and saw Obama walking out, so he ran across the street and got his hand shaken).

I doubt it would work at something as huge as a 1,000 person fundraiser at the LA Music Center, but maybe he'll have some other events in LA as well.

Latest SurveyUSA WA poll has Obama up by 17% in the battleground state of Washington. Up by 25% among women.

Rasmussen also finally has Obama up in MI
