Anderson Cooper's greatest skill as a journalist has always been his unwillingness to let something go if he smells bullshit in the air. Pair that with his naturally strong moral compass, and he's dangerous in situations like this. I haven't seen him in prime form like this since the last time he raked Kellyanne over the coals. I honestly thought Page was going to snap. Good on Cooper. Keep digging.

I love him so much.

CNN is bad, but Cooper is great. He's not as out there and present as Tapper, so people forget.

I think it might be possible this guy is being forced to go out and do this by the white house. They want him to distance himself from them as much as possible. "I didn't really know or meet anyone, honest, and when I and others said I wrote policy papers we were just being metaphorical. And obviously by meetings I meant various rallys. That's Russian and I'm an expert on Russia but not as much of an expert as I am on not being associated or involved with the Trump campaign."

CNN is bad, but Cooper is great. He's not as out there and present as Tapper, so people forget.

They also have two completely different skillsets. Tapper likes to do more investigative journalism, which is why he's become more prominent recently, whereas Cooper is a walking bullshit detector and human interest machine.

AC360 is the only show I'll watch on CNN. If Tapper digs something up, I'll hear about it regardless, and otherwise he's kind of a patsy. But there's nothing more satisfying than watching Anderson Cooper unapologetically be a voice for the voiceless and a constant hard check on political spin, and it's what he's made his career doing. If you haven't read his first book, Dispatches From the Edge, I highly recommend it.

Just watched both the Chris Hayes and Anderson Cooper interviews. I'm not one to make rash judgements about someone, but Carter Page is so shifty with the eyes that there is no way he wasn't making shit up on the spot.

No idea what makes this guy think these interviews are doing him any good.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
dear lord the last 5 minutes of that video is glorious. MELTDOWN

edit: Total fucking meltdown holy shit dear lord it was worth it

Seriously?? I am only in the first 5 minutes so far and its already a shitshow. Anderson barely had to show up at all for this guy to completely stumble over himself.

I'm beginning to wonder if I also have met with the Russian envoy.
Haha, that one got me good. Well done.

This interview was quite strange. The body language warrants a professional to survey and weigh in because that shit was all over the map. He looked like he wanted to confess things to Anderson at times, but then was pulling some cagey, PR deflection at others. Then he got defensive. Mostly, I felt that he often had a really weird, nervous, maybe scared(?) look in his eye.

I think maybe he doesn't want to be there but is being told he has to go out and distance himself from the campaign and the administration.

He literally turned into a malfunctioning Westworld host at the end there. "I, uh, I, you see, um, uhh... that doesn't look like anything to me."

Jesus fucking Christ. This stopped being a 'coincidence' a few people ago. How can any Trump voter make excuses for this shit anymore? The cognitive dissonance is astounding.

You'd think amassing the power would be the most difficult part.

This. Wow.

What a win/win for Putin. A nice half-trillion dollar oil deal and full access to the US fuel market...or complete, masterfully-executed deconstruction and perversion of the US democratic process. Checkmate?

I'm calling it, Trump is gonna' fake his death. Heart attack, tremendous funeral, it's gonna be big league, trust me. The biggest, highest rated funeral in the history of human people, it's gonna be...so big. And so traditional.

One thing that came up in the Sessions thread was Evan Perez, a journalist for CNN, revealing that the Russian Ambassador, Kislyak, is apparently well-known in the Intelligence Community for being a spy recruiter. Someone who cultivates sources and new assets, turns agents, corrupts and compromises. This is the guy all these Trump campaign and Administration people were having secret meetings with that they have no good explanation for, and that they've tried to cover-up and lie about since.

https://twitter.com/michaeldweiss/st...42268905652226

Evan Perez just said it on CNN, so I suppose I can here: Kislyak wasn't just ambassador, he was Russia's "top spy recruiter" in D.C.: SVR.

This context makes it even worse that they were all meeting this guy.

I'm watching this Cooper/Page interview and it's extraordinary. Page looks really scared and very nervous. If the camera pans over to reveal his wife and a guy dressed in black with a gun to her head, I won't be surprised one bit.

Probably afraid for his life. He knows Putin doesn't play around and will end any hint of anyone that could link back to him being guilty of election tampering. He's appearing on these shows to get out and front and try to prove to Putin he isn't talking.

Like everyone else here, I'm amazed at the last five minutes. One constant of this Russia investigation is that Trump and anyone associated with him will absolutely not under any circumstance criticise Putin. Here, Page would rather appear an utter fool than do it. On O'Reilly, Trump himself went straight to criticising the US rather than do it. It's hands down the most suspicious thing ever. I think it's been made clear to them that they're all for the polonium teapot if they crack. More seriously, it's how you act if you know you're guilty of treason and you can be exposed.

It's so bizarre why they are so defensive ...

Wow. Democrats are really pushing this way too much. It's really sad. Maybe it'll work and help get them back into power, but this is really stooping low. I'd prefer to see energy spent on the legitimately dangerous things the Trump administration is doing and the actual investigation into the people behind the hacking. This 'oh they talked once or twice' shit is ridiculous and pathetic.

Stooping low by tracking a possible wide spread Russian conspiracy? Okay.

If it's nothing, why did the Trump admin repeatedly lie about it? At best, this was extremely odd and suspicious, at worst it's treason. It certainly bears investigation.

Why do they keep lying about it?

Also, when their excuse is "Everyone in our campaign has a casual, friendly relationship with Russia's ambassador and top spy recruiter", we should probably start asking some questions.

Haha.

Trump supporters wish it were only just Democrats at this point.

Both Republican led Houses of Congress are actively investigating these people. The Trump appointed National Security adviser was fired due to lying about communicating with Russians and his appointed Attorney General just recused himself of any DOJ investigation involving the Trump campaign after lying under oath about "talking once or twice" to the Russians. Democrats stooping too low as one Trump adviser/campaign surrogate/cabinet appointee after another are exposed of not only communicating with the Russians during his campaign and days before he took office but lying about it to the public as well.

Just watched that interview and man, that dude was sweating internally all the time. There is no reason for him to act like this if it's not true. He just gave himself out without realising it. You can only really facepalm at this stuff.

He genuinely looked like a man auditioning for the role of his own downfall.
He was desperately pleading to the Whitehouse senpai to notice that, look, I'm a good boy and pleading the same to Russia - and at the same time trying not to further implicate himself because he knows that the FBI was watching.
He literally didn't give a single straight answer. Not one.

If you found out your wife was talking to a Russian spy recruiter, but she strongly insisted that 1) it didn't happen 2) she don't remember 3) nothing important happen, In those order, are you naive enough to not question or suspect her?

You entered two Trump threads last night in a short time frame specifically to go after liberals. Yet never visited either thread after that to perhaps respond to anyone.

It sucks Congress is majority republicans who don't have ethics or a love of country. If Trump were a democrat multiple investigations would have been launched and they'd be putting pressure on the intelligence community. Alas. Just remember to vote in 2018, volunteer, and donate.

Did the Trump campaign not pay so many people in order to kind of hide paper trails of who they met with?
