Yes, there are much bigger issues in the world!! What are we even complaining about?

/s

What a dumb opinion to hold on a fucking Gaming Enthusiast forum.

Stupidity Are You Stupid GIF

I can only hope you`re just trolling....the amount of "I don`t know how any of this works" in that single sentence is terrifying.

That kind of oversimplification is classic populism.

These topics are so complicated that it wouldn't make any sense to go further than sucks for the consumer.

Toy & board game industry is in flames right now.
But fear not, there's plenty of Rose Tico action figures left on the shelves.

nah, its hilarious to see people on here complain like their lives are ruined. no perspective. even on forums such as a gaming forum.

Who here is saying their lives are ruined? Get a grip dude.

As a non american its insane to me that some actual people who have to deal with the consequences of these tariffs are pretending it will not impact them in any way shape or form.

I havent imported anything from HK for awhile, but when I did some GBA modding I loved AliExpress. IPS displays for GBA's, parts and pieces etc.. I would not like to get taxed the entire value of my shipment.

But maybe thats just me.

What about the GameSir Super Nova? I saw a review on the youtubes yesturday and it seemed similar to the 8bitdo with features. It also looked nicer.

I hope it truly is temporary, 8bitdo's controllers are top of the industry, the best third party controller manufacturer we've had.

This tariff shit couldn't end soon enough.

Yeah, I already got my Ultimate 2 a week ago; saw the writing on the wall.
I ordered a Moza R3 2 weeks ago myself, knew I wouldn't get an opportunity if i delayed on it.

When I finally pick it up I'll write a thread on it to give everyone something fun to discuss while we're currently getting ass raped by Trump's Tariff Throngler.

of course. but i think its a needed pressure on China to negotiate better trade terms and persuade them economically
To do what though? Stop sending as much stuff to the US? Buy more US stuff?
If there were clear measurable goals that we were trying to achieve then it would be a lot easier to swallow, but right now it's just 'trust me'.

I mean.. understandable.

Saw this floating on Twitter

I remember when this happend where i live and customs sent me an email telling me that i need to pay $35 for the Breath of The Wild.

The dude responsible is now memed as 'Tax Man' in Brazil

I hope prez holds his ground at least one year.
I want him to fold and drop all the tariffs. Bring back American production the smart way- by educating the populace for factory work and giving BENEFITS to companies who produce American instead of taxing everybody giving stuff to us.
Do things in a long-term way because you're not gonna build factories and bring back production in 4 years. Assuming the guy even lives that long.

Doing things the way he does now just means that we're not gonna get nice well built gaming controllers for cheap anymore. Along with a whole host of other stuff but for the sake of the thread this is the main idea

Screwing with you how?

Low prices everywhere!! That just ain't right!

Damn man, just open your eyes! In a perfect world we'll completely fuck over China. Of course, everything would be be more expensive because of trade wars, we'd be smack in the middle of a global recession, but at least now US companies will be outsourcing their manufacturing to other countries in SE Asia instead. Can't you see how much better that would be for us regular Joes? The end goal is to bring all of those low low wages jobs back to the US so companies won't have to choose between slave labor in Vietnam (average wage $250 a month) or here in the US. That's worth a little inconvenience, don't you think?

I know, that's what I said. You've got your throne for 80 years. Time to give it back to Europe.

The long term way will never work. You need available jobs before people teach and learn how to do them.

Oh.

no complaints I guess. If we're gonna be a fallen empire can we at least not be like the British? Those guys seem to be miserable all the time since America got its #1 spot

Luckily I have stocked up on 8bitdo controllers recently. Maybe I should get the ultimate 2 I have been considering before prices potentially go up.

The world, well trade markets at least, doesn't work like that!

Honestly, where do you think the money to subsidize US industry is going to come from? The Government gets its money from taxes, taxes are paid by the people!
And no, you can't just tax the rich because they have the option to simply pack up and leave.

So essentially in a free market suppliers from a favourable economy will always have an advantage, which is where tariffs come in generally to protect national interest groups against competition they simply cannot beat.

Either way, these punitive tariffs that Trump & co have put in are going to hurt the people they have imposed them against far more. You might not be able to buy, be they suddenly are unable to sell to a formerly lucrative client group and that causes havoc up and down the supply chain.
They can try dumping the excess somewhere else, but that will likely result in the places they do that throwing up further protectionist measures of their own.

Essentially its a short-term strategy to force renegotiation, and frankly odds are its going to work because a lot of the non-US economies affected by this are in way worse shape and cannot sustain a prolonged drop in export revenues.

Isn't Trump trying to get rid of income tax? Republican governments have never been very happy with taxation especially involving taxes for the rich. Either way, the government gets enough tax money from the lower and middle class anyways. They just choose to spend it in the most retarded ways imaginable.
Cutting military spending, CIA/FBI spending, Israel spending and rerouting that cash to public services, education, fixing infrastructure, and Social Security would benefit the common American man far more than whatever they're doing now.

And yes, Taxing the rich has a higher chance of success than you think. Most rich people aren't rich in liquid cash, it's their investments and connections that give them money. Investments and connections that would be far less valuable if all of a sudden they just up and left. You can't take an Amazon warehouse with you on a plane. Not to mention that the US government isn't just going to let them leave knowing how in cahoots they are.

Again though, renogotiation of what?

Yep. I think taxing the rich would be a great start to giving power back to the common man, but government and corporations are too in bed with each other for that shit to happen.

For fucks sake we have the shitty tax filing system we do because of H&R Block and Turbotax lobbying to make filing taxes for free as inconvenient and BS as possible. No competent government would let that happen to their citizens.

Anybody who thinks that Trump is any different's in for a rude awakening.

I'll drop political discussion for now because I don't really want to talk about stuff like this on such a board.

With cheap, affordable stuff. I so want to pay triple or quadruple for stuff.

I'm sure tariffs will magically sprout factories in the US and that cheap stuff will be produced there, and people will work in those factories and be paid next to nothing and all will be well.
