It was one giveaway of a really rad print. Relax. You could have suggested that solid idea without being dickish.

Toss in some pins too, for good measure!

On topic, I finally got that storage space so I now have room in the house for storing prints properly, so I'm ordering the materials.

Doing the foam core + acid free paper route, because if I really like a print I can just frame it with the foam core really.

Next step will be a framing system that lets me easily switch between horizontal / vertical prints. I want to try a magnet setup that will hold a frame, but let me rotate it at will.

That way I can start actually displaying the prints I buy and rotate them once a month or so.

I've been thinking lately about how I could set up my framing so I can rotate things easier. Now that my collection is getting bigger, framing everything I get is getting less and less feasible. Still a little ways to go before I run out of wall space, so I guess I'll cross that road once I get there. We'll see where I'm at once I get everything I've ordered this month...

That magnet idea sounds rad, Lucid. Keep us updated on what you go with because I'm going to have to try something similar soon.

I'm always worried if I set up a situation with a frame for swappable prints that I'm somehow going to damage the prints in one way or another during the swap. It's a really cool idea though, and know plenty of people do it.

Apologies if my response came off as too strong.

We've done giveaways/commissions in this fashion in the previous thread and we've not had a negative response to it. Then again, I don't know if we've had this large a response, either.

Spotlight Displays makes a front loading frame that people on EB seem to like. Makes swapping out posters very easy.

Looking at the episode list on their mailblast, wonder if they're going to end up doing original print for Poison Ivy (who isn't really highlighted in the boxset outside of Almost Got 'Im) and maybe someone else. Don't think anyone's jonesing for two Man-Bat prints or another Two-Face.

Yeah, most of the magnet print holders I've seen before use the magnets to "clamp" onto the print which is a huge no-no for me.

So, I'm going to find a frame, apply a small magnet to the back of the frame and mount a larger countersunk magnet to the wall with a bolt and line up the magnet on the frame to the magnet on the wall.

The poster will end up a bit suspended out from the wall, but then it should be easy to rotate and take down with some effort, and should be sturdy enough. I'm interested in how well it'll let me set prints at angles, like the Craig Drake the Matrix I have - it would look really neat at a 35 degree angle or so.

However swapping out prints is still risky business given that you're putting it into the frame, but then...

That seems like a good frame to use for the project! If they're aluminum I may not even need to mount the second magnet to the frame.

I'm going to test the magnets with the Transistor print I have first, since it's already framed. Once I know for sure it works, I can order the other stuff. Going to cut into my print budget for a while though...

Since the contest is over, I updated my entry to not contain the huge list. I'd recommend anyone who entered after post 1800 to update their comment :).

Has anybody else been kind of fucked by shipping from Mondo recently? Every print I order is like $16+ for shipping. I get that price for 24x36 prints, but for something like an 18x24, that shit is a ripoff.

Yeah, shipping was 16 and change for the last two BTAS drops.

Their shipping prices have always been that high, but they're including cost of tube / kraft / tissue etc into it.

Damn, you're getting rid of a lot. I'll have to take a closer look once I'm home, but at first glance I might be interested in the vinyl you've got listed.

Paul Shipper does some amazing work. Ordered one of his Monsters: Dark Continent prints and it looks stunning. Now to get it framed :D.
