Kreayshawn sets new record with debut album
Not true, I think. I'm not really sure how sublabels and imprints are legally related to one another, but in May, Far East Movement's sophomore album, "Dirty Bass" did even worse, which surprised the
hell out of me. It debuted at #190 on the Top 200 Albums with 3,000 sold (narrowly outselling a 2-year old Britney Singles Collection re-chart).
Keep in mind that their first album sold almost 200,000 copies stateside and had the singles "Like a G6" (3x Platinum in US) and "Rocketeer" (Platinum in US). In just two years, these guys went from having a number one smash song (plus Top 10 and Top 20 charting songs) to nearly missing Top 200 albums altogether. The album has since sold a Furtado-beating 8000 copies here.
They are signed to Cherrytree Records, which is a part of Interscope Records, which is owned by Universal Music Group.
Kreayshawn's flop, in comparison, is a lot less shocking owing to the fact "Gucci Gucci" peaked at #57 and her single "Breakfast Syrup" from earlier this year was a massive flop.
