As a 21 year old, most of us don't go around showing nipple at every opportunity and bashing the people who may have an ounce of wisdom as a result of personal experiences though. The ones who do are simply crying out for attention; I know girls my age who are JUST like this. I worked with one and it was the worst thing I've ever had to do.

There's a difference in "being yourself" and "trying too hard to get attention."

And who are any of us to say where the line is?

Besides, I mean, models do this shit all time. Miley is by FAR not the first celebrity to show a damn nipple.

All this really does is confirm that people are holding Miley Cyrus to the expectations of "Hannah Montana" and not whoever it is Miley might ACTUALLY be.

Edit : Roy, what will it take for you to finally relate to what everyone is saying about Miley? Will it take her driving around doing drive bys with her girls? Or making a female gang crew to walk around with? Or make a full length rap album and call it artistic? Or when she finally cracks and says the n-word in one of her songs just so you know she's real (that is if she isn't already saying it)? I love Miley but damn, your going harder for her than Xtina and Xtina has all the class right now?

Let me rephrase. Yes, models do show nip all the time. It's not even the nudity that bothers me, it's the manner in which she presents it. If she were to do it in a "somewhat classy" manner, then go for it. But she's not. She's being really trashy and gratuitous about it and that's the problem.

I think that the real Miley here is trying in all the wrong ways to get attention and fame. In the end, what's she's doing will only damage her career and reputation. We all know this.

It's more than just that particular photo shoot, though. As I said, it's not the nudity that's the problem. It's the way she presents it and her other actions that only solidify the fact that she's trying too hard to be sexy.

Miley is beautiful, and we all know that. She doesn't need the tongue wagging and twerking to be hot, but yet she does it anyway.

This right here is what is brilliant about Miley Cyrus.

Society as a whole tends to only accept or understand female sexuality through the lens of what men consider to be sexy.

Miley Cyrus is hot, doesn't have to do the shenanigans she's doing to be considered sexy, deliberately does it anyway, and she is completely 100% aware.

That's what's fascinating about Miley. You're watching a nation look at a girl going "This is what makes me feel free and sexy" that has nothing to do with what MEN traditionally constitute as "sexy".

And people do not know how to deal with it.

That's why I'm always blown away by the people (and there are lots) who think she's being "try-hard".

To me, it feels the exact opposite. You can't be "trying too hard" to fit into cultural (re: men's) definitions of sexy when you're not even trying to go about it that way in the first place.

Saying she's prostituting herself and accusing her of not giving a fuck about herself and basically slut-shaming Miley is the polar opposite of meaning no harm.

I get that what Miley said was out of line. But let's stop pretending like Sinead was "just trying to be helpful." Sinead's goal was to embarrass Miley, and the flop knows it.

But it doesn't make her look free, it makes her look like a hot mess. When you intentionally give yourself such an image, it just makes you look worse in the eyes of the community you're trying to "impress". As Xao said, it's definitely not something she should be applauded for; in fact, it's just the opposite.

If she's doing it on purpose, it simply supports the fact that she's being an attention seeker and doing these things for all the wrong reasons.

Yes, you can be sexual without it being for someone, but I cannot believe for a second that she's doing this for herself. If she really is doing this to be free, deep down, that does not change the fact that she's doing this in all the wrong ways and that it straight up just makes her look bad.

I use teenage boy hair gel (the stuff they make pointed spikes out of when they go to rock concerts) - I put it inside an old mascara tube. I didn’t know they made brow products. I just comb mine and gel them up a little.
