PPSSPP 0.75 released

Audio version causes a big performance hit... with Wipeout Pulse I get near constant 60 fps during races with the silent version, but with the music version I only get around 45 fps on average.

Should be better in future releases. Audio does have a major impact on lower end hardware currently.

Wow, it runs god of war at almost locked 60fps and naruto impact at a solid 60 while I barely could get 14fps in impact (that's after 2 hours of tweaking) on jpcsp. AND apparently this was released a mere half a year ago. Amazing.

With the version that Durante linked, the video and audio work on Crisis Core. Though the VO do cut out a bit, it's still much much better.

It does? My game got stuck after the 1st cutscene on the train with Zack. What are your settings, do you mind sharing them?

Well, for the beginning, I had to play through using the super slow JCPSP in order to get into the base. You need a save in order to play it in PPSSPP as far as I know. If you want, I could upload my save file I have now. It just passed the first train mission and the basic tutorial.

Oh okay, thanks for the explanation. Wouldn't mind the savefile if it's not too much trouble, thanks in advance. :D

Ok, so I downloaded the 87mb soundstage program, installed it, restarted my comp, and currently have it running. How do I get sound in games? 3rd Birthday still has no COM audio.

EDIT: I am using the build Durante linked.

My guess is that compatibility is hit and miss, but you don't need SonicStage running.

I just tried little big planet and wipeout pulse, and both run at 60fps with music and a few graphical glitches (the quake weapon from wipeout erased the track :lol):

how did you get lbp running like that? for me its just a blue background with one brown texture.

What kind of CPU do you need to play at a good framerate? Also it seems to be progressing way faster than the Java emulator.

I've a measly Core 2 Duo @ 2.8 GHz and it seems to get the job done in Tekken DR (50-60 FPS 3x rendering res) and 3rd Birthday (60 FPS 3x rendering res).

Much, much better performance in games than the Java emulator too. With so much less tweaking.

ah its working now - anyway to get music?

Install Sonic Stage.

if anybody wants sonicstage it's up on sony vaio ftp site here:
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Downloads/SO/A/SST/SOASST-01198207-UN.exe

Thanks for that, it's much bigger than the older 4.3 one though. (87MB vs 36MB)

I've decided to upload the older Sonic Stage 4.3 CP standalone installers (which worked for JPCSP) for any gaffers still interested in it:-

Sonic Stage 4.3 CP

Download it, extract using 7zip or Winrar, and run installers in folders SsSetup and SsAddon. Other folders contain installers for the extra optional components (bloatware). Install them if you want.

First battle in Tactics Ogre that you can actually die in gives you a game over once it starts. Sound/movie fix version of emu. Oh well, still better than previous versions that couldn't even load the game.

Soundfix version that was just posted fixes tactics ogre problems I just had and adds music to FFT. Still no sound during video though.

So much for Crisis Core working. The game hangs when you get to the scene where Angeal talks to Zack about dumbapples in Wutai forest. People on PPSSPP forums also having same problem.

EDIT: I got passed it. I used the turbo through the dialogue and it brought me passed that scene.

Any settings I can disable or change to get it to run better on my Note 2? It says it's running at 30-45 FPS (I turned the sound off) but it still has this weird stutter every few seconds.

Edit: Just for reference, it ran the first 2 minutes of both Ys 7 and Trails in the Sky on Android, just with the above-mentioned stuttering.

I find that turbo gets through lots of bugs. Lol.

Holding Tab down worked? Incredible.

lol was pretty shocked myself. I almost gave up, tried different versions and everything.

I don't know if it's exclusive to Crisis Core, but I find that the save states are quite buggy and result in my game crashing after loading them. I recommend just using the in-game save system.

EDIT: I can't wait for my USB bluetooth adapter to show up ($1.80 on Dealextreme) so I can use my PS3 controller instead of the keyboard.

Awesome, the emulator scene on android looks way better than a year ago.

Sucks nobody is making a phone with actual controllers tho :(

Not anymore anyway. The Xperia Play is not half bad - it's just slow by today's standards.

Still runs GBC, GBA and Snes games wonderfully... :D

The PSP is the absolute easiest hardware to rip your own games on. With custom firmware, it is literally as simple as pressing select on the home screen, changing the media from "memory stick" to "UMD" and then connecting the PSP to your computer via USB. It presents an ISO file to you in the window and you copy it off. It's that easy.

Thanks, this helped to refine my googling!

Ok, that was easy.

VC3 seems to run.

Hexyz Force stopped (just black screen) seconds after I took that shot.

Damn, seeing your results got me hyped, I wanted to wait for the emulator to get better at first, but now I'm currently ripping my entire collection to do some testing. :D

In a typical PPSSPP directory there are two executables, PPSSPPWindows_Normal.exe and PPSSPPWindows_Top.exe.

Anyone know the differences between the two of them?

I've been using the former so far and swapped between them but saw no visible differences. I wonder whether the latter offers something different in terms of performance.
