Failing in not getting the job done? Meaning she did get the job done?

40% of people in this country can't see the underlying details of how shitty Trump is. Or they do and completely agree with those shitty details.

After speaking with my friends and family who support Trump (thankfully not that many) - they know exactly how awful he is and they don't care.

It boils down to:

A) Fuck it all

B) Anything but Hillary

This whole concept of people slamming Hillary because she "will say anything to win" is such a ridiculous statement as well. What politician doesn't say things with the intention of gaining support? The reality is that Hillary says substantive things. She speaks about ideas and ways we can improve the country. Donald lacks that capability because he frankly isn't equipped for it. He has no clue at all. And that ignorance is somehow seen by his supporters as a good thing. You've got 40% of the country or thereabouts willfully championing a basic lack of understanding of governance.

I also don't get how people can call him strong when he's obviously thin skinned and goes on personal attacks. Do people think being loud and abrasive is a sign of strength?

And how can people call him honest when he won't even admit to saying things where there is video proof or how often he is wrong about the facts he carelessly throws about?

Also, since Trump teased it, I straight up want Trump to bring up Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski. I damn well would bet that Trump thinks that's some kind of ace in the hole he can play to slam Hillary. The reality is that will probably just humanize her and draw some sympathy towards her. Not to mention the immediate retort to that would be to bring up Trump's well documented history of affairs and failed marriages.

That moment will end up being one of the most savage counter-punches in debate history

Only if she framed such a response as going against the 'family values' his party always claim to support, while she kept her family/marriage together through very public hard times

Trump supporters absolutely do. It's one of the things that draws people to him the most.

Yes, exactly. They probably say he seems strong because he's male and has a loud voice and talks over people.

What saddens me is the amount of Trump won or both sides are awful posts, I see going around.

Hillary discussed her policy as well as subtly baiting Trump. Trump rambled incoherently about boogeyman like China, Mexico, etc. as well as lying numerous times. It reminded me of high school where it's the likable alpha male vs. the timid student. The likable alpha male just tells everyone what they want to hear, not what is actually feasible, and also bullies the other candidate relentlessly. Meanwhile the other student actually discusses real issues and feasible solutions to those issues.

I'm starting to have less respect for the "both sides" people than I do for Trump supporters. Trump supporters want to vote for a racist demagogue but at least they're able to perceive a difference between two very clearly different people. I don't know how you could watch something like last night's debate and still push that Giant Douche/Turd Sandwich nonsense.

Trump proudly admitted to tax evasion and stifling the pay of his workers, wanted credit for needlessly forcing the President to release his birth certificate over a racist conspiracy theory, tried to pat himself on the back for not bringing up Bill's infidelity, and responded to an accusation of sexism by bringing up a feud he had with Rosie o'Donell a decade ago and saying she "deserved it".

How does somebody look at that and think Hillary's performance was on the same level? His supporters at least have the excuse of already being committed to him.

Yeah, they do... A combination of warped ideas of masculinity, and a perception that the Alpha Male must always always always attack, offend, browbeat.

I guess this is the new talking point...

"Hillary's been around for 30 years and yet everything's not perfect, clearly it's her fault. So vote for the guy who has zero political experience so you can't assess how effective he'd be in office. Just roll the dice, what have you got to lose??"

I'm right there with you.

i'm still laughing at that passage where trump said sean hannity about fifty times in three minutes

trump went bonkers when it got personal but his passages about race where he basically talks about black people as a threat to the fabric of society were chilling. the man has zero interest in basic constitutional protections.

the Wall has been a red herring for a while now. It hasn't been a major point for his campaign for a few months. People keep making jokes about it because it's stupid but the campaign has moved on to other things.
It has been a major point for his campaign inside the last month. He has reiterated it several times in that span, including in the immediate aftermath of meeting the Mexican president, when he lied about what they discussed, and more recently when he happily compared his wall to those used in Israel.

Coworker thinks Trump screwing people out of money etc is OK because they knew what they were getting into. And if they didn't it's still their fault for not knowing better.

She was basically in my eyes using the "it's her fault for dressing that way" argument.

I asked but shouldn't a president have integrity and empathy? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Answer was: "No."

The whole tax thing was surreal. He basically said regular Americans are idiots for doing their duty and paying taxes. How can anyone trash regular folks like that and hope to get elected?

Because deep down, a majority of the people in the US don't want to pay taxes.

They want the benefits of a society where people pay taxes, but THEY don't want to pay taxes.

Like I said, it's the Fuck You, Got Mine mentality.

A lot of people want to be Trump, as deplorable as he is.

Like fuck, if my taxes keep a kid off the streets or make my drive on the I5 smoother then fuck yeah, tax me.

Let's really make America great by doing our part, not dodging shit you need to do to keep a country going.

Same deal with jury duty. Everyone wants out of it, but everyone wants the justice system to work.

So someone is telling me that all the reports he's reading are telling him that Trump picked up more undecided voters than Hillary, but I can't seem to find any of this. Has anyone else seen reports like this?

Not to mention fighting ISIS her entire adult life. She was fighting them before they even existed and still couldn't stop them. Sad!

Online polls are useless and are always flooded by people on Reddit/4chan

I laugh every time I see "balance out the bots". That's how they justify rigging the polls in their minds, that's how they convince themselves they're not just cheating, "The enemy is obviously rigging them so we have to rig them back the right way!".

Same shit with claiming everyone who disagrees with them is a "shill" while that ass Palmer Luckey actually donates to a group that organizes literal paid shills for Trump.

No self-awareness, in fact a steadfast refusal to have self-awareness.

Beautifully written. He represents the American dream for many; the crawl up to the top "There Will Be Blood" style pushing people to the side and earn enough fuck you money to tell whoever you want to "Fuck you". There's a direct line from this to CEO pay, reality tv show "stars", etc. As opposed to working together the goal for many of the powerless is just more chances at this rigged lottery

The wall is also the only concrete (ha) policy his campaign has talked about. It literally is his signature piece of policy that he has stuck too. If we are talking about Ttump the wall is tied to him.

No idea if it's been posted, but theres a good WaPo article about what newssites, coservative and liberal, as well as many republican politicians and activists thought of Trump.

It was nearly universally negative.

Daily 202: Why Even Republicans Think Clinton Won the First Debate

I'm not going to post excerps, because there's so much, but I highly recommend it if you want to see the full reaction to the debate.
That is overwhelming evidence that Trump did pretty awful.

So we have to get very , very tough on cyber and cyber warfare. It is - - it is a huge problem . I have a son. He 's 10 years old . He has computers. He is so good with these computers, it ' s unbelievable. The security aspect of cyber is very , very tough . And maybe it ' s hardly doable.

I'm still in disbelief

Everyone over the age of 60 talks like that. He is speaking their language.

My favorite part of the debate was when Clinton got Trump to admit he didn't pay any federal income tax.

HILLARY CLINTON
And maybe because you have not paid any federal income tax for a lot of years. And the other thing I think is important --

DONALD TRUMP
It would be squandered too, believe me.
