PS+ : October Edition Thread | EU : Bulletstorm, RE 5, Hell Yeah | US : NFL Blitz

Amazing how most of Fighting GAF doesn't even own KOF XIII

That shit speaks volumes

If you were so interested in fighting genre game, why not buy it before?

Netcode complaint was the big sticking point for me. I have no one to play locally. A lot of fans of the game pretty much made it sound unplayable.

Also maybe "on-disc" DLC? Burned by KOFXII? high learning curve? (these three are not my concerns though)

What are you trying to say here?

Edit: Heh.

That certain games will always be avoided

Hell some of you Fighter lovers don't have KOF already states you weren't interested in to begin with
Now you're getting it free, people taking up the banner like OMG such a good game

I'm just basing it off trophies, reviews, community aspect, so far the game feels doesn't go with a good game motif from my perspective (I'm not the only one with this viewpoint)

Bad netocde is a deal-breaker for a lot of fighting game fans, regardless of how good a game is. Getting it for free makes it much easier to live with. Some will finally at least get to try it.

OK then, I understand that then

You can't go "Oh you wanted Hannah Montana didn't you?"

"ZOMG trophies trumps gaming, this is why gaming is dieing"

Most got into PS+ for the games, some for the e-peen (trophies), some just to get content on weekly/monthly basis Russian roulette style

Certain games will cater to specific genres

KOF will really not help sell PS+, from my point of view
Bulletstorm + RE5 Gold would have (I mean RE6 being released, it was a smart move)

Hell they gave us Borderlands for free, everyone booted that bitch up and either finished it up, or got 100% + platinum and moved on into Borderlands 2

Not really excited by this, but mostly cause I wasn't a fan of the series. I was thinking the other day that a free fighting game like Mortal Kombat or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 would make a pretty decent offering due to the longevity fighting game communities have though.

Also it's October

Go with a monthly theme

EU covered itself RE5 Gold Zombies + RE6 release

I understood why SCEA did NFL Blitz to capitalize in on the NFL + Ref scandal + US loves football
Blitz isn't even the Blitz most really played, this is the cartoony E for Eceryone kid version

You're telling me in their back catalog they didn't have any retail games that can tie in with this month
Could've given away Assassin's Creed Bro or Rev to capitalize on Columbus Day + Ass Creed III release

Gave RE5 Gold for parity sakes

KOF just stands out, not for good reasons

Apparently Sony should just release genres this guy likes. Oh and don't make da trophies 2 hard, waste of bandwidth.

So is KOF the game the psblog was talking about or was that for next month?

i like this gif better than the other one.

No Sony should release content that should be equal to the same service it offers in other regions

Why give it out a title which certainly will not be used by a lot of the subscribers

Yes there have been titles meant not for me, and some time titles not meant for you

This time KOF doesn't really make me feel like the money I paid for this service is being used correctly, that's all

You do realize that for the 6 years the PS3 has been out, that has NEVER been the case? The only difference is that this time, for once, EU is coming out on top.
There have been 1 or 2 bad months of US Plus and you act if it's the end of the world.

Perhaps the publishers are the reason for the region differences, and have an agenda for what they approve for release in each region. I imagine Sony can't release their game if they choose not to let them.

PS+ has been out for only 2 years

First year was slow, then it started ramping up, EU got monthly, while NA weekly, bitch & moan fest, we got equaled to monthly release
Now the situation is getting flipped again

I mean 6 years of PSN. There has never been parity between the regions and 90% of the time US has gotten more and earlier releases and better prices, only to name a few things.

They need to show this shit on a month by month basis because getting stringed along with the promise of wonderful things just over the horizon is fucking terrible.

I would be a lot more accepting of games I have no interest in if they were games that weren't on the store already to begin with and is being offered free to Plus members and then regular members can but them if they want them. It would be a good way to promote games making their way to the store too.

Football and now a fighting game?

Ugh.

I've had plus pretty much since the beginning but recently I've felt like it's actively getting worse since the 'IGC' stuff.

Not sure what you mean. Like free day-1 releases? or stuff that's debuting on the store?

Not a bad free game. I wish they would go back to two updates a month with more than one game per update though. My current Plus subscription runs out before the last two updates, assuming we're getting one game each tuesday this month.

NFL Blitz & KOF XIII vs Hell Yeah! (Brand new Day 1 game) + RE5 Gold (that means all the DLC included) + Bulletsorm

Does that not stand out to anyone?

NA is also getting another game next week plus it has huge discounts (something a lot of people were asking about when they were bitching they'd rather want an 80% discount or something than 'renting' games on the plus)

No they aren't. That's probably the dumbest line I've seen all day.

Should have worded that most fighters released are solo experiences

I get the new trend of Tag mode and team play, but most of the foundation is based upon solo play, then you take that experience and fight against another solo player

I don't see any co-op in KOF

Sega Genesis games which were given away free, now the next batch can be had for a $1... what true savings there
Those % really are drowning me in games

Old games debuting. For instance Mirror's Edge finally came out on the store two weeks ago. That could've been free.

Yeah, that would be cool, but again, I think it's highly dependent on the publisher. I'm sure they have to cut some kind of deal.

I think people are trying too hard to knock this release. KOF is arguably one of the best in it's genre. It's just been held back by online issues despite being a good game. Never caught on that big in the US. Seems like a pretty smart choice for fans of the genre and the publisher.

If they listed all the games US and EU were getting before released so far pretty much no one would have picked US Plus. I shouldn't have to make a fake EU account and pay for a second Plus sub. Anyway the discounts on Dishonored and Tokyo Jungle were good.

KOF is huge for me. Should've gotten it ages ago but I was kinda forcing myself to play non-fighters to catch up on my backlog.

Sad to hear the netcode is weak, but I'll give it a shot.

You mean versus and co-op based gameplay? If you wanted, you could have one person take the controller when their character's round is up, like the old school manuals used to say.

I think KOF is a good pick, not something as good as borderlands last month, but better than blitz.

Very, Very pleased that It's King Of The Fighters XIII.
Was choosing between this & Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for my gifts, so glad I picked Tekken really, really glad now.

Month redeemed.

Damn, US PS+ getting KOFXIII? If I didn't own the game already, I'd be so jelly.

Shame you still have to buy EX Kyo, Flame Iori and Mr. Karate to be competitive, though. Are most US subbers going to bother buying DLC characters (and the stuff they come with) for a freebie fighter they downloaded for funsies? I don't think so.

Nonetheless, KOFXIII is awesome even without them. Enjoy, US PSN-GAF.

Watch with awe and resigned disgust as we dirty Euros get either UMvC3, MvC Origins or P4 Arena as our fightan freebies next month
Nah, it'll probably be more shooters
I can dream that P4A will be released in the UK next month, can't I?

Yeah? Well, I want Persona 4 Arena to be released in my country, but we can't always get what we want, can we, _woLf?

Fuck Zen United
Fuck Index Corporation even harder for forcing the region lock

KOFXIII seems decent enough. It's a game I would never buy myself but will definitely give it a shot through Plus. I would love if this became the norm. In most cases I buy the big name releases when they come out, if I could supplement them with lesser known plus releases that would work out great. Maybe we'll see something like Catherine or Agarest in the coming months.

Wow I was about to go and buy KoFXIII on disc for more than what it cost me for a year of PS+ ($15). This is awesome!
