Heesh, really? And here I thought Giant Bomb was good.

They are comedic and don't take things too seriously, their podcast and quicklooks of terrible games is what people mostly like about them.

Also he is a little wrong, when they started out you couldn't even list PC as one of the things they knew existed and now you could add ios to the PC/360 so at least theyre growing their platforms

I love giant bomb but the way the treat the vita is disgusting. They are meant to be journalists and treat systems with at least some dignity

I'm not crazy about the games on the list, but I'll throw in LittleBigPlanet and Virtua Tennis 4 as well.
True. I just did that list off the top of my head, but then again I didn't have a giant dude angrily berating me the whole time.

I can see the point of view of people who don't have a Vita... it is missing that one super killer app that makes everyone instantly want one but once you buy one, hell, there's plenty to play. The system itself is WELL worth the money when you consider the tech involved. How much was the PSP at launch? This is a better system tech-wise than that was at release, and what did that have? Lumines, Darkstalkers, Death Jr?

If you're focusing on the negatives, yeah they're there, but why would you do that? Other than to be a dick.

I always hear nothing but good things about Giant Bomb. But considering they seem to completely ignore Sony and Nintendo I'm more than happy to tell them to go fuck 'emselves.
You should probably form your own opinion before you jump to such an extreme response. Their Vita quicklooks did quite a bit to sell me on the system, and while I didn't watch the video you linked, the Giant Bomb team has always seemed to have a level of camaraderie both with each other and their audience that I wouldn't take their opinions too seriously.

That dude didn't even mention that Sound Shapes was a cross-plat purchase, and Ryan could use the game he's already been playing and did not pay for and take it on the go on the Vita, which is sort of the whole point!

I wonder where the negativity stems from. It's not like they had to pay for the systems or games they use at GB. Most of the time they don't even know how much the stuff they play costs. They're not even slightly embarrassed to openly admit their lack of preparation during their Quick Looks.

You missed my entire "Tee hee, you're playing an unreleased Wipeout prequel" bit. :(

It seems that the PSP disappointed quite a few people and that the pure technology excitement isn't as big of a deal handhelds that it otherwise is on consoles (although I bought the Vita primarily because I liked the console itself), so the Vita didn't start with a lot of cache and had to rely on the strength of its library, which, for a lot of people who want a dedicated handheld, isn't quite up to snuff. I'm happy with it myself, and of the opinion that it's too early to write off the system.

I like their Quick Looks, but even then, I usually mute them. I'm not really a fan of Giant Bomb's commentary, but outside of this thread, I seem to be in the minority.

Their quick looks are the best thing they have going for them, and even then you can easily find better on Youtube. Though it is sometimes worth it for the comedy of realizing just how bad they are at playing games.

Perhaps, but I don't like searching around Youtube when all I want is a few minutes of really clearly shot footage, which is what GiantBomb provides.

Giant Bomb are terrible, one of the worst sites out there. Even Kotaku is better.,

I find them extremely frustrating to watch. They tend to go in completely blind (which might be the whole point and maybe I missed that!) and, on top of that, they quickly skip over text and then the next second have trouble figuring out how to do what the text JUST EXPLAINED. It's happened often enough to make me rage a little inside.

I still watch them because when they're good, they're hilarious. That XBLA and PC Roller Coaster game one was CLASSIC, lol.

What Giantbomb usually provides is 20 minutes of talking over the menus followed by 20 minutes of badly playing the game because they're not paying attention to the tutorial/instructions. The podcast is entertaining though, when Vinny is on.

The problem with Giantbomb is that it's a personality cult. There's no need for any kind of integrity when the fanbase is there solely because of your gaffes and snide remarks.

I'm going to have to agree to disagree. I really only read headlines of announcements when I go through gaming news, and even then Kotaku was fairly awful. I think I reached the fifth "this porn star plays video games too!" "look, these guys are more interested in Starcraft than strippers" type news story before I just unsubscribed.

Yep, this too. I still can't really figure out what got people into GiantBomb to begin with though, whereas, as a listener of the equally cultish Idle Thumbs, there are conversations that they've had that I could point to to show why I like the podcast.

Anyhow lets not turn this into a anti- giant bomb thread, how about that vita eh? Pretty cool littler machine.
dead tbh

I wish Kyon posted more. :(

It's about to get 100x better over the next two months.

Good People Die, Ragnarok Odyssey, Persona 4, DJMAX Technika Tune... maybe EDF by the end of the year??

GODDAMN.

I said goddamn.

And Retro City Rampage and Jet Set Radio HD, and if you're me: Sonic Sega All Stars Transformed 2 Racing Sega Special Bonus Premium Edition. I can't remember the title, but I'm honestly more excited about it than anything else.

Looks like the title was more simple than I thought. The point still stands!

AFAIK that date was only confirmed for Europe? I hope its really not Winter 2013 :(
Same here. That's ages away.

So is he on a diet? He doesn't look like it, but he sure sounds like it.
I don't really understand the point you're trying to make, but making jabs at somebody because of their weight rather than their actual argument is fairly tactless.

Can't believe you guys forgot Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz. We're supposed to have a better memory than Sony/SEGA.

Debating pre-ordering that and 4 or so other Vita games through Amazon (I'm talking things like SMB and Silent Hill and Sonic, I have the big games for this year pretty much covered), or buying Hatsune Miku for nearly $100 from Play-Asia.

Easily my favorite JRPG, if not one of my favorite games of all time. Really wish they'd just do a PSN port, I don't want to use my mint disc anymore.

WOW this is amazing! Going to be checking out this game now, I've never heard of it.

I feel ya. I hate putting my disc in the console, haha. Still looks good, but I always worry my PS3 will eat it up!

That and if i got to make these decisions i would have:

-Cut the price to $199 for wifi and $250 for the 3g models
-Every console is bundled with a digital game and a 4gb card
-Games like Resistance burning skies and COD declassified to be given a lot more time and budget and be done by much higher tier devs
-COD DC to have the same mp as black ops 2 with cross play and save sync but a new sp story mode all that while running at native res and 60fps with some AA same for FIFA, NFS and madden or any other ports which have mp
-Get the god eater, hatsune miku and monster hunter series as exclusives for high sales in japan
-Exclusive new resident evil and yakuza
-Ps mobile to have all the mobile big hitters like real racing 3,mc4 at launch along with the smaller games
-Uncharted golden abyss 2,gravity rush 2 for next fall and gow and gran turismo for 2014
-Exclusive killzone,ys,ac,lbp,wipeout etc.
-More awesome new IPs like soul sacrifice, tearaway etc.
-Market the hell out of it and the games

You and I think alike. I think Sony missed a huge opportunity this upcoming holiday season by not cutting the price AT LEAST 50 bucks (though I would want a $100 price cut).

AS it is...for $50 dollars more than the base Vita, you can buy a brand new Game Console (Wii U).

And really, since Sony think they can afford to not cut the price for the Vita until a re-release (they'll probably treat it like a re-launch...whatever), the next iteration NEEDS to have some onboard memory. 8 gigs minimum. Not having onboard memory was a big no-no for the Vita, and they probably should have waited till prices on memory fell so they could have included onboard the Vita. IT's not like they would have lost any significant sales!

Vita is pretty much the Sony's Gamecube.
Developers won't support it properly because there are many other more profitable alternatives for them, Sony won't invest in the platform to the point where they will buy the key support they need. There will be ports, there will be great mid-tier gams, a few first party standouts and that's it.
At this point Sony just doesn't care, they know that dedicaded gaming handheld are dead anyway, this is their last portable generation, then they'll support smarpthones and tablets with games and services like the Playstation Mobile.

I don't think this necessarily has to be true. Most predicted that the E-reader would die since smartphones and tablets took care of that aspect, but Amazon (and to a smaller extent Barnes & Noble) have proven that wrong. Sony just needs to segment their market well and market their device well.

Now I do believe that there will eventually be a Vita-tablet or Vita-Smartphone, (just like there's a Kindle HD and Nook Color), but that'll be down the line.

Ughh I can't read about the vita anywhere outside of this thread, outside here it's pure doom an gloom.

I on the other hand will be buying a vita pretty soon for P4G and 999 sequel. But I was wondering if any new colors would be announced for it soon.

Not sure if you heard, but blue and red were announced for Japan. Who knows about North America/Europe (probably not?). White is coming to North America with the Assassin's Creed bundle, incase you didn't know that.

DCharlie

And even i am moderately surprised
Hey DCharlie did you ever put up that samurai and dragons impression?

i didn't - i played through the tutorial stuff and never went back, think the wife has ploughed through a fair bit of it - will check with her in the morning.

Should I click finish on this Hatsune Miku order? It's gonna cost me just over $100AU to get it here. :|

Either that or grab a bunch of the shovelware games from Amazon (Sonic, Super Monkey Ball, Spy Hunter and Silent Hill).

Any news on if the white Vita is coming on its own? I have the AC:L bundle pre-ordered, myself, but I have some friends who are holding out until they can get a white one alone.

Like Leona said theres no assasins creed labeling on the Vita irself so it's kinda pointless to wait for a non bundled because you would be shorting yourself a free memory card and game

You can take AC:L out of the box and sell them the white vita by itself at MSRP. Profit.

i finally have a reason to dislike you

Yep, and it'll probably be like that for months to come.

As for colors, red and blue were recently revealed... they look alright.

You also like the Xbox 360.

I like GiantBomb too
yeah well you like the 3ds you lamer

people who bought it at launch
