Oh well. It was cheap. I will check it out and flip it on eBay if I can't stand it.

Aw yeah! Thanks hardcastlemccormick. After some screwing around with different settings and back / forth with the HDD, finally got everything working and DQV English translation running on actual hardware, from the hard drive no less.
Only other question is, does a free mcboot memory card still function as a normal memory card as well? Not that its a hindrance, but just checking.
jumping in here:
Gradius V is dope. I have some nitpicks regarding some tiny cutscenes being unskippable, but all in all I consider it to be one of Treasure's legitimately great games (alongside Ikaruga and Alien Soldier).
R-Type Final put me to sleep. Man is that game dull. Has an awful lot of ships to collect, though, if you're craving that sort of thing instead of a traditional arcade STG.
Oh yeah! Maximo series!
Might've just scored a Greatest Hits SH2 for the price of vanilla! Woohoo!

It's a good thing in this case! The GH version on PS2 has the Maria prologue. In fact, I keep a GH disk in a vanilla cover just like you got it there.
A few games added bonuses like this throughout that generation.
It costs more actually overall.I remember way way back I was a member on a car forum and I asked in their off-topic area the same thing- why is Operation Genesis for PS2 so expensive? This was about 7-8 years ago. I was able to get a complete copy for like $30, which seemed like a lot for a Jurassic Park licensed game.
It's just not very common, I guess it didn't sell well. It also was received a lot better than many other JP licensed games, in fact, I would say it's still the best. If you can get a copy you'll have a lot of fun. I think the Xbox version is expensive as well, but slightly less than PS2. But if you're not a collector and just want to enjoy the game, you might want to search for the PC version. I think both of the console versions have a gameplay flaw where you can't pick any combination of dig sites that have all of the dinosaurs available. I think I heard somewhere that the PC version has a mod that does let you.
Do most of you just play your PS1 games on your PS2?
I'd rather hate less retro connected, the better. Although a PSOne with the LCD add-on is super sweet.
I know the emulation isn't foolproof, but the amount that have issues are negligible. I vaguely remember something with Chrono Cross, but that's about it.
The original PS1 CPU is on the board and also taking care of I/O:Is the PS2's BC of PS1 actual hardware BC or emulation?
Lucky!!!I got damn lucky getting Operation Genesis last year on ebay. Had it in my saved searches and one popped up on my birthday no less. No photo of it, listed in acceptable condition, no details, but for $15. Bought it quickly, figured that was a good price for a disc only copy and I'd snag the case separately. Came in the mail, game was complete in like new condition.

If you just want ST buy SF Collection for PSX. more accurate port, pretty cheap too. What's the concensus on Capcom Classics vol. 2? I have it but I haven't played it much. I want to play console ST but don't feel like paying $175 right now.
Just bought this Hori Mini PS1/PS2 pad. Thinking it will be perfect for arcade type games that use dual analog sticks like God Hand and Burnout 3.![]()
Interesting. Is it any comfortable? The analogs look kinda awkward.

curious about this one. it looks small!
I think that Yakuza still looks really nice.
I was midway through 2 when I got the first game, seems silly to do so but I think when I'm done with Y1 ill just start fresh on 2. I'm playing through component out with the CRT I posted earlier, and it really looks terrific. I can't decide however if I want to be playing in 4:3 or 16:9 - while I tend to prefer the latter I find it bothersome that UI elements like the radar are plainly not optimized for widescreen. it's really distracting.I just went through the game again last week. It really does. What Sega did with that game back then was pretty impressive. I'm starting on 2 this week and if I have time, maybe doing 3 and 4 in prep for 5.
