Insane For Sony
I wouldn't look to SCEE for a confirmation/denial of this (if that's what Eurogamer is doing). They most likely don't know either way.

tha_con said:I doubt a controller redesign with rumble will change the name. SIXAXIS is just way to cool for Sony, they love the fact that it's a palindrome.
[Zero Unused Disk Space] has been added as an option under [System Settings] > [Format Utility].
Jim said:Also, there's no farking way they are ever going to list 720p BRD support in the changelog. Like the former PS2 rendering issue, that's just going to be a stealth update for sure.
Jim said:Some of the listed crap seems a little too mundane or weird to just make up. So I'm saying it's true.
This was never on the press site from what I saw, but then again, they never post firmware updates on there anyway from what I've seen.

Well, it seems like they learned from the Kotaku incident.gofreak said:Sony has today dismissed reports of a new PS3 firmware update as "speculation".
Not that it really advances our understanding of the truth or falsity of this, but they're not exactly throwing a hissy-fit and demanding people take it off their site..it seems to be the bog-standard response whenever rumours crop up.
I'm not saying it's not true, after all Sony's Gamers Day is tomorrow, but take this with a grain of salt.
TTP said:Wait, Gamers' Day is tomorrow rather than today? That's what Kotaku says in an article about the FW 2.0 rumor:

But it's true. SCEE has a long and rich history of not having a clue! :lolbadcrumble said::lol :lol

Real.
I won't buy Blu-ray movies unless I can watch them in 720p -- none of this 1080i horsesh*t.

I was thinking "what if there is no gamers day this week...or better yet this month"

Sony has released a FW update exactly every 4 weeks on Wednesdays since Feb. 28th. Wednesday is 4 weeks.
Obviously not something to bank on, but it certainly lends a lot of credibility into a "surprise" on Wednesday.

And I wish there was network shares support (as well as nested folder support for all media types).

...The method of selecting an output resolution has been changed in [Video Output Settings] under [Display Settings].

that is my tv.
it's resolution is 1366 x 768
it has 2 hdmi ports, one of which is occupied by my ps3.
1080i looks like utter shit when i watch a blu-ray movie, however motorstorm looks fantastic when i play it in 720p.
am i doing something wrong? a lot of people say that 1080i looks great, but i think all interlaced displays look garbage. maybe the onus is on me, and i'm screwing something up...
Either you're watching shitty BD movies, or 1080i is disabled on your PS3's display settings and that is resulting in movies being shown in SD. That TV has a better scaler in it than a majority of 720p-native HDTVs.
