Really not nice or consumer friendly.
Hopefully their streaming service will tank fast enough to make the problem disappear.

The day any console will legally support MKV is the same day that the N64 produces better GFX than a Quad-SLI Titan powered pc.Weird but don't really care. I'm much more interested in if mkv will be supported. Anyone know?
Who knows. I'm thinking that Microsoft is going to end the "Windows Media Extender" chapter. If One doesn' t support Microsoft standard, how many are the chances that support DLNA ?
I actually love the Music Unlimited service. I've listen to a lot of music that I would not have purchased or found otherwise.
I think this primarily means that they have not developed a stable media player for the system yet. As launch priorities go I can understand putting this on the back burner for a while.

Wtf is Xbox music
Wtf is music unlimited
Wtf is Xbox music
Such a senseless, transparent cash grab. How many people are seriously going to pony up for this, and is the negative reaction worth it?
At least throw in an MU subscription with PS+. This is worse than Xbox Live. Now you have TWO fucking Sony paywalls. This is idiotic.
Xbox Music is a service that can run in a browser and play whatever you want for free, and if your browser has an ad blocker you get no commercials.
It would have cost them nothing to include MP3/DLNA.so this is how Sony shaved off $100, no MP3/DLNA
Well, a game machine is what Sony thought everyone wanted.
"...my own music..." is the keypart of the question here.
So what speakers do you use for your console? You've got two speaker sets? Or play one through lousy TV speakers and the other through your home cinema?
get that shit out of hereso is it worth the 8GB DDR5?
It doesn't sound like they are planning to bring it in.
I'll only be okay with this if they release a Spotify app that allowed music to be played in the background and a Plex app for PS4. Which they won't. But if they did, I'd be okay with these restrictions.
Which one of you is this?

lol
"taking down systemwars"
comparing reactions to both xbone's past policies and no custom soundtracks in games. really?
Even though sony should change their stance I can't take this post seriously .

You can't use your own music unless you have an Xbox Music pass. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/music/music-pass

Still do.
Man I LOVE swapping out background music for my own.
I've been doing it since they added it in Project Gotham Racing back on the original Xbox. Being able to play your own music in racing games upgrades the experience in every way. Doing it through the console also meant you didn't lose access to the in-game sound effects; only the music would be different.
It was my shit for Geometry Wars, WipeOut, Forza X, DoA 4/5, CoD MP, Gears MP, and a number of others. Some of my best memories this generation were kicking people's asses in DoA to James Brown's Big Payback, or flying down a WipeOut track listening to D'Angelo's Crusin'.
If anything, I expected these kinds of features to be more prevalent and integrated across more titles. Not this bullshit.
I don't get the outcry here. You sign up to the service, pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee and you're instantly able to listen to music ... for free. It's just like free games on PS+.

Can it even play MP4's and avi's?
