PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

55" Samsung KS8000 4K HDR display
Xbox One S for 4k UHD blu-ray playback
Standard PS4 sold for $275
PS4 Pro preordered in full
Vacation day requested for 11/11
Extra $$ put aside for snacks, beer, and pizza

I'm ready. I think the first game I'll try will be The Last of Us in native 4k.

No PSVR? Thats only 2/3rds ready.

And dammnit, I had the 2TB firecuda sitting in my Amazon cart and now its OOS =(

Regarding Drive Club they issued a final patch this week adding 15 new tracks and saying goodbye and thanks to everyone so it isn't getting a Pro patch currently. Left a lump in my throat tbh.

Neat! Thanks for linking.
The BBs near me are not participating as usual though lol. I wouldn't mind seeing the Pro running COD on that 85-inch 4K Sony TV.

Damn. :(
Evolution supported the fuck outta that game post launch. Best DLC support I've seen this gen by far.

It's OOS on Newegg also. It's been in and out of stock for a while now. Must be the Ps4 Pro factor.

is this considered the best drive to get for your PS4/PS4Pro unless you go 1TB+ SSD? I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck. The price for this drive seemed very reasonable.

holy crap did everyone decide to order this or what?

it's currently unavailable.

I was thinking about getting one. hope it goes back in stock soon.

Maan, I really hope I'll be able to just walk in a store at 10 am and get one. Surely retail tends to save some amount of stock?

Nvm, you were talking about a hdd.

We won't know until we get some real benchmarks of Pro's SATA port but at ~$120 its about as good as youre going to get for a 2TB drive unless you can cough up $500 for an SSD

Pictures?

Check harz-marz post. I also took a quick picture:

Just sold my PS4 to a coworker, so I can keep my Pro preorder and not feel guilty! Now that 2TB Firecuda needs to be back and stock on Amazon and I'll be set.

Has there been any word on how CoD or Titanfall look on the Pro, I want a new game to play on launch day and I have decided it will be one of them.

If I was to guess, I'd say CoD will be more impressive, as they have put it front and centre so far.

What's the greatest console box of all time? I'm pretty fond of the PS2

latest

Just a big ol' blue box
Yup,
No arguments here. I cried the day I came home from school and find out my mom dumped my big blue box. As I mother I could imagine she was surprised to discover someone cared so much about a box. just look at that thing...... it's beautiful.

I was trying to be good and responsible by canceling my preorder because I didn't need one. The hype got me again. I can't turn down new tech with my 4K tv.

You can buy a 2TB HDD for around $80. The Firecuda is the cheapest and likely only 2TB SSHD that will fit inside a PS4 Pro though.

Quick question about PS4 Pro and 4K Upscaling.

Basically, today I am going to purchase an entry level 4K TV (Sony X800D). This is for use in my own bedroom, so don't need anything to fancy or too big, especially since I sit rather close to the TV. Now, I am purchasing a PS4 Pro when it comes out, however, I have read that the upscaling on this TV is decent.

Will the 4K upscaling of the PS4 Pro and this TV be similar in nature? Or will the upscaling produced by the console itself be better. Just interested because I am planning on playing The Last of Us tonight on my new TV (with the added bonus of the new HDR patch), and would like to know if this is what I should expect from the PS4 in terms of resolution output, minus the obvious graphical benefits some games will receive from the new patches.

Sorry if this question is painfully obvious, I am new to the world of buying TVs and am coming from a fairly old basic 1080p set.

I think they stated that CoD has the per pixel motion blur from cutscenes have made it into gameplay, amongst other extras.

titanfall 2 has increased particles effects etc.

Haven't said much else.

No, it's a night and day difference. I have a Sony 4K TV, and you are correct in saying the upscaling is good, but that is taking a 1080p signal and essentially making it look non pixelated on a screen with a much higher pixel count.

The PS4 pro is creating a 4K image from a resolution higher than 1080p.

Upscalling from games which support PS4 Pro mode should be better. The more data you get before using scaling algorithms the better and you will have more or less twice the number of pixels rendered with Pro to rebuild whole 4k frame from.

edit: and for TLoU specifically you will have no upscale since it's native 4K

You should set your PS4 Pro at 4K, it will do the upscaling and output that 4K image to the TV so the TV wouldn't need to do any further upscaling.

I was definitely going to set the Pro at 4K when I get one... I was just curious about how it would look compared to my current PS4 upscaled through the TV, graphical patches not included.

For un-patched games, the picture will probably be exactly the same as your current PS4. The console doesn't offer any kind of extra advantages for unpatched games, it literally downclocks itself to base PS4 specifications in those cases.

I think so far this is the best bang for you buck. If you buy a lot of games and do not like deleting and reinstalling games a 1tb will not be enough. A lot of people use this drive in their vanilla PS4 and it is an improvement over the stock hdd. I have a ton of games both retail and download and I currently use a 1.5tb so a 2tb should be the sweet spot.

Sold my PS4 on eBay last night, posted it off today.

Ordering a 4K TV in the coming days, Pro preordered as soon as it was live via Amazon. it's happening. Oh yes.

Given the speed at which this thread is moving this might be the best place to ask.

If my TV is 4K and supports HDMI 2.0, does that mean it will have no problem with 4K at 60fps (depending on the games obviously)
I just dont want to be limited to 30fps like I've read about on the internet.

Yup, you should be covered.

So, is there even a small form 1TB SSD that would work in this? 500GB just isn't gonna cut it, and 1TB is questionable too since the Game DVR apparently can record in 1080P mode and screenshots up to 4K.

But

I'm thinking maybe of doing the insane and grabbing a 1TB. I can always recycle it into a laptop or new console in years time...

Every 1TB SSD with a 2.5" form factor should work in it. most people buy an EVO

Really hope we find out soon if it supports HDD taller than 9.5mm.

Some site has one and said no. It's the same size limit as before.

What I'd like to see is allowing videos/pictures to be stored straight to an external drive so we can plug in a USB one and capture 1080p video without worry.

No Tardis confirmed ?
