PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

I have 3 Walmarts in my area. Time to go hunting tomorrow. I doubt I'll find one since they never break street dates, but I'm off tomorrow so why not I guess.

The ones near me never use the override key when the alert about street date pops up. They were fined too many times. Lol. I wonder if eBay has any of these up yet for laughs.

There's a Walmart like 2 minutes from my work. I'm gonna have my lunch break in an hour, I'll definitely go and check if all wallmarts are this trigger happy :p

Welcome to the club. I got this exact model a few weeks back :). Unfortunately I had to go through 3 before I got one without flaws on the panel. Make sure to throw up a white screen and check for any dead pixels. Also, go to rtings review of the KS8000 and into the settings and use their settings. You don't need to do the panel specific settings, but the other stuff you definitely need to do. And make sure your console is actually outputting in HDR.

Rtings mentions using warm2. It will look weird when you switch back and forth at first, but over time you'll realize its the right setting and the other color temps will start looking radioactive blue to you.

A word of warning is unfortunately the Game Mode doesn't keep separate settings for HDR and non-HDR mode. When I'm playing HDR games/content I put the backlight to 20. When I'm playing non-HDR stuff I put the backlight to 10. Also, built in apps in the TV will run on the same setting that your current input is in. So when I'm using netflix or youtube I usually switch over to a non game-mode input so that it can show the correct settings whether in HDR and non HDR mode.

Make sure you change the zoom options so it fits to screen to eliminate overscan and cropping of edges of screen.

Never use HDR+. Thats garbage fake HDR stuff. When something is displaying in HDR you'll get an HDR banner pop up at the top of the screen.

Oh and finally, literally everything saves its own settings. Each input, each mode, HDR vs non HDR content (other than the exception for game mode) saves its own setting so always make sure to double check all your settings after you've set up your new device. I'm not sure if the apply all settings to all inputs option will copy *every* setting over. For example I noticed I still had to change the zoom settings and the HDR mode settings.

Hmm. Why would you need to disable HDCP to enable 4k?

Seems like an odd solution. Is there something I'm missing?

There might be a day 1 patch or something to fix that too :p

Also, good enough that everything is working at the end. Man that dude is super lucky. He's gonna be making a lot of new twitter and twitch followers.

If we set the settings on the pro to 4k and we play tomb raider in 1080 for example; should we change that setting to 1080 or leave it there and it will know its in 1080?

Hey man I'll be your friend on Twitter if it makes you feel better

I don't use twitter :( I'd be following that guy like crazy if I did though :p
Sorry if my wording came off wrong, I meant to say followers, not friends. Edited my post.

I saw a video that the modes are in-game options in Rise and can be changed on the fly while playing.

The dude with the Pro said he liked RGB more. I guess it's a preference and TV settings thing.

Digital Foundry made note of it in one of their PS4 Pro articles

Connectivity between PS4 Pro and a 4K screen is very simple. In the resolution area of the video output settings, two new options join the existing 720p, 1080i and 1080p selectables. These are, in turn, 2160p YUV420 and 2160p RGB.

2160p YUV420 is interesting in that this allows PS4 Pro to connect to older 4K screens that lack the full HDMI 2.0 implementation. By reducing chroma information, the required bandwidth drops down in half, allowing HDMI 1.4 screens to get a full 60Hz signal.

The compromise is that hard reds, blues and greens can show low resolution artefacting. However, in our tests, we've found that it's not an issue in a typical living room environment. 2160p RGB doubles the bandwidth requirement, meaning HDMI 2.0 is a must, and sends the framebuffer through losslessly to the 4K screen.

this is gonna be really tricky for a lot of people who bought 4K TVs in 2014 or 2015. for example, my TV supports 4K60 and HDMI 2.0 (i think) but not HDR which requires HDMI 2.0a. it's a messy situation.

I got a 1080p TV. So should i choose 1080p and still get the super sampled picture?
Or do i need to choose the 4k mode, to get the super sampling on my 1080 TV?

He mentions something about how the hard drive bay is very delicate, that it can break easily..that is concerning since with the PS4 it was pretty easy opening it up..just screwing out the hard drive itself was the hard part(At least for me)
