PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

Did you watch the review? HDR performance on this TV is not good or even average, it barely even qualifies as HDR making it terrible, which is the whole topic of this discussion.

2016 is not the year to buy entry-level HDR TVs when even higher end, more expensive HDR TVs cannot get it right.

If this is the same set as the 6300 then I can agree that it has a very high picture to price ratio.

It can reach about 450 nits, which is not bad. It will create a nice pop, particularly in dark room environment. It has very low lag, perfect for gaming.

Of course, it is missing wcg, local dimming, and a 10 bit panel, but if it had those three items, the price nearly doubles.

That being said, I bought one of these for my mother in law who wanted a taste of the new tech without going all in.

I watched the review you posted, but can not say that I agree. You will notice 450 nits.

You really do not need full compliance with Ultra HD premium to get noticeable benefits from HDR.

Just got notified that my PS4 Pro has been shipped and has an expected delivery of the 10th...

... but considering it just had it's Richmond BC arrival scan, it's Amazon Prime, and I'm only an hour away, I wouldn't be surprised if I got it sooner.

The hype is real.

Most likely has a "deliver on the 10th" notice for FedEx or UPS. Don't get too hyped.

Is that something carriers do?

I understand things like "do not open" street dates for retail but I don't think carriers would want to act like storage for unreleased products while they wait for them to release.

When I preordered my pixel xl, it shipped almost a week early then FedEx held it until launch day 😡

Ive had a preorder item get shipped, and even make it "on truck for delivery" in the tracking info, only to have it never show up, and later that night check the tracking and see "item returned, not scheduled for delivery" and then have them put it back on the truck the next day and deliver it on release day

Well... That sucks. 😕

Is there a size limit or limit to the type of external hard drive that can be used to back up the PS4? Damn, this is frustrating. I have tried it formatted to exFAT and FAT 32, and it's not working.

That's messed up and rage inducing just reading it happened.

Strange... FAT32 should get it to work. Try a different cable maybe?

How are you formatting it? On a mac with disk utility?
Make sure to use master boot record as the partition scheme

Never played a Ratchet game before. Think I'm going to pick that up so I actually have something to play on the Pro until Final Fantasy at the end of the month. That youtube footage of it looks nuts.

I dunno... I've seen Canadian GAFfers post getting PS4 PRO, PS4 and PS Vita early from Amazon. Seems U.S. Resident GAFfers seem to mostly get shipped on time from Amazon.

I've seen some U.S. Resident GAFfers get the occasional game titles early from Best Buy when shipped.

Just preordered PS4Pro on BestBuy.com for Thursday pickup. Had 200 bucks in gift cards that actually only cost me $160 from Ebay deal. Used a 20 dollar reward cert also.

My current PS4 has a 1TB 7200rpm drive so I will probably backup my saves to the cloud and wipe the drive and install in the Pro. 7200rpm speed did make it a few seconds faster at loading.

When I get the Pro should I deactivate all systems on the website? My account shows two past PS3's and a PSP also that where never deactivated. If choose to deactivate everything will it cause any issues with the new Pro?

Deactivate your PS4 through the actual console. You can only deactivate through the website once every 6 months which can lead to problems.

Yeah, while I've seen plenty of people have UPS or FedEx hold a package, I've never had that happen to me. Amazon (US) sends me things a day early maybe 20-25% of the time. I get a lot of stuff overnight from them when I use the standard free 2 day shipping as well. Just in a lucky area, I guess.

Really hope they come out with a media player update like they did when PSVR launched, this one focused on the pro allowing 4k hdr videos to be played. (Also 4k 360 videos for PSVR)

My TV doesn't play stuff in hdr through the USB port. I want to try out those samples I downloaded.

Cancelled my Amazon pre-order in hopes of Black Friday bundles.

My OLED isn't being delivered until the 20th anyway so it's not like I need this day one.

Do we have any idea why on Earth this console is releasing on a Thursday? Wasn't PSVR also out on a Thursday? Why is Sony doing this?

Got my tracking number from Amazon (Canada post) processed in transit from Richmond BC and scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, once Canada post has it, its not going back due to release date.

So I will have it two days early.. sweet!!

Posted on wrong thread.

Question

I plan on buying 2 on launch day but i have not pre-ordered.

These should be available right? Or will these sell out?

Any opinions?

Should be available. Isn't really a launch console and nobody likes shelling out 400$ for an "upgrade". You should be fine.

IMO, only people buying them would be the people following gaming.

Feeling hopeful after reading these, fingers crossed!

This also certainly helps:

Looking more and more like it'll be here two days early.
