I think a strong push starts next week. I did not think about the possibility that they were letting some poor uninformed saps buy the lower version until the quarter was over.

This makes a lot of sense. Why hurt the sales of ps4/slim more by giving ppl a reason to hold out and wait.
personally it pushes me toward nintendo switch if anything.
the sweet spot is always higher up...

So can someone knowledgeable on the subject explain Mark Cerny's comments on half precision operations leading to 8.4 tf performance. What does that mean for development? When would that technique result in native 4k?

The ps4 pro is like slightly faster than a gtx 970 which is underpowered as far as near-4k is concerned. With that said PC users have typically been Sony leaning because there are more exclusives to play so to someone with a PC is just going to consider it as a way to play better looking versions of Sony exclusives. A Scorpio should be ok if you want to replace your PC with a new Xbox and better at multiplatform games than the PS4 pro but for me I'm just going to continue upgrading my PC (still got a 970 in desktop but I've recently bought a laptop with a 1070 so it will be while before the desktop gets upgraded)

Pretty much. The only push needed will have to take place at retail, I think. Hook the PS4 Pro to a nice monitor and train sales representatives adequately so that they may explain the differences between the models. That is it...

I can't hook the two systems together, since I'll be taking the old PS4 to the store for the trade-in. How do I get the old saves to the Pro? Can I save them on a USB drive?

Any USB drive will work. I keep backups of "important" saves if I think I may come back years later to a game. I just don't trust any cloud with long term storage. I don't know why?
Generous trade in offers are designed to drum up business.
Retailers don't need to do that for the Pro.

and it's number 86 for the year; higher than any of the new "Slim" editions which are already out.
Not to mention, Sony is not so desperate for sales figures as to sabotage their own products to bolster the new one. No official upgrade deals to cannibalize your own previous sales and saving announcements to not interfere with consumers buying hardware that's on the market.
MS basically just paid customers to upgrade their hardware while giving them a big reason to not even bother buying an Xbox for 18 months

Honestly? I wouldn't expect a Pro Bundle until next year sometime when even more games are supporting the platform. Most of the big games already have some kind of bundle, or will have one announced soon, so you run the risk of having 2 bundles out there featuring the same game. Despite it's advantages, the new uninformed customer will likely pick up the cheaper of the two.
If anything, I say the first bundle you're going to see is Horizon: Zero Dawn.

More likely is I see Sony doing a price cut/great bundles to counter the Scorpio and whatever price tag that thing is going to have. If you could get a Pro with RDR2, Days Gone or Detroit for $350-$399 vs a $500 Xbox with nothing...

Just remembered need to cancel my pro preorder. I've loved the PS4 this gen so the pro seemed like a nobrainer. Now, I think I'm going to wait on scorpio. The 6TB gpu has me excited, and I think it could be a much better VR console. The one has been a janky experience for me. (Gear4 kicks ass though!) After trying Oculus I really do see VR/AR being huge in console gaming. Also Xbox crossplay games on the PC, could be a huge game changer. The way things are shaping up the ps4pro feel like a load shot early, especially for how quickly i believe the market is going to change. I normally gravitate to the more powerful consoles technically.

Not really. Sony does pretty well with having a less technically powerful console. They usually have at least one strength that becomes leveraged in their software. It feels like less powerful console hurts MS more.
ps1- insane storage, efficient cheap 3d
ps2- memory bandwidth, raw gpu power
ps3- bountiful sub cpus.
ps4- flops; memory

I think it only copies the data, as the official instructions say to ensure you do a complete restore on your original to remove everything from it once finished.
You should just be able to load the original one up with everything still intact.

This. Not to mention that my PS4 ejects discs randomly. The power reset/cycle is only a short term fix.
I think not including a UHD Blu Ray player was a massive misstep on Sony's part. After the bitstream announcement yesterday, it's the single reason why I will be picking up an X1S over the PS4 Pro.
I would have gladly paid the premium for the Pro over the X1S of they had included a UHD drive since I already own a PS4 and I would be able to play all my current games on it.
