you are absolutely correct, GTA6 is the only game i'd probably do that for currently.

However, that game is probably going to get delayed, i know rockstar recently said nay but Rockstars past shows they always delay their big games. So if by 2026 this thing has dropped in price to 499-550 I'll definitely jump on board.

I see no other reason until then to do so however, unless Sony really shows some first party bangers to back up the reason for it. Right now the only other game i'd maybe get it for would be DS2, but i am also fairly certain that is gonna look great on regular ps5 anyway like Horizon does

People forget, for the first year the ps5 was being sold for close to $1k by scalpers and selling out. Sony literally dropped a ps5 for $699 with double the SSD storage and a better GPU. They know it’s going to be niche and sell to that market regardless of the price.

I consider myself a rather hardcore customer, and can't recall the last time I would have bought a physical game, at least new.

...but I do want the option to watch DVDs/Blu-Rays. I mean I never do. But I still want the option.

A high price but it is a premium product at a premium price for enthusiasts and those that want the best. Typical Apple pricing strategy at play for new products. Hopefully next year it will be cheaper and there will be some excellent new AAA games that take advantage of it.

But the main thing this will drive is the hope of a standard PS5 reduction and sales of the base model.

This was really a let down. Not only because of the price of the PS5pro, but they showed PS5 as a console failure for not targeting games at 60.

Again, was a miserable use of PSSR, we are at the mercy of the Youtube compression quality to really see what PSSR can do with old playstation games. PS4pro at least had a closed door demostration and even Digital Foundry use their tools to compare the Checkerboard Rendering with native resolution.

Of the rest, they certainly have not chosen the best examples to sell the graphic improvements for that price.

We'll see when final comparisons come out. But the inequality of treatment with prices seems embarrassing to me.

As a European, I completely agree. The disc drive costs 130+ euro's over here, insane.

Of course it will have a fantastic launch, it's a new PlayStation. Only time will tell if the broader market will buy in. I imagine Sony isn't crazy enough to think that a $700 machine is going to gain much market share, so I imagine production will reflect this.

Side bar, I'm curious if PSSR is compatible with VR reproduction techniques.

well, thats not his fault, is it? ND, SSM, GG, Sucker Punch, Bend, PD all refused to make next gen games at the start of this gen leaving him with just three next gen games from Insomniac and Bluepoint to show off his new tech.

Had Sony held an E3 conference showing new games, we might have seen some demos of new games, but these studios have nothing to show and left him out to dry.

Man is a genius at hardware but he needs software developers to take advantage of his tech. No one other than insomniac has used his SSD and IO tech to incorporate new gameplay elements. His so-called dream at the Road to Show simply didnt materialize outside of those two games and was turned into a fast loading gimmick for the past four years by 99% of the developers. Lets hope this hardware doesnt rely on devs, and his PSSR solution simply runs all fidelity modes at 60 fps without looking softer than regular fidelity modes. Even steve jobs relied on software for his amazing products, but he had industry leading developers doing amazing things. Cerny has no control over sony first party. Thats all herman and jimbo.

The game will likely have a perfomance and graphic mode(like most of game does). So a PS5 user will likely have the option for 60fps.

Apparently the PS4pro was 20% of the market so I suspect they expect something along those same lines.
