PS5 Showcase |OT| (09/16/20 - 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm UK / 6am AET)

399$ and 499$ ... Extremely competitive pricing by Sony. Compared to Series S's 299$, a 100$ more for a PS5 with hardware comparable to Series X sounds like an awesome deal.

Well that was pretty shit. Literally nothing looks next gen that they showed.
And what the hell is supposed to be out for the system at launch? I guess that is why they are doing this PS+ collections thing.
The best looking game was Demon's Souls. A remake of a 100 year old game.
Miles Morales.

Were you not paying attention?

$50 difference never made sense. They want to drive people towards the DE, and also compete with the XSS.
I was hoping for 449 and 399. But eh. But I knew all along there will be a 399. They're not letting go of that number. Did wonders for them with the PS4.

I think the software looks really weak but it'll overall be a good value for the performance, controller, and the couple games you will play the hell out of.

this is pretty exciting. the amount of people who might have more than one console will probably be higher than its ever been with those prices and the prices for the Xbox.

359 quid for the DE seems good. I wonder if MS is tempted to take the S down to 200 quid to create a real gap that will make a lot of folk think?

Great show, great price. Glad to see some fantastic third party stuff coming, Spidey looked decent (although not day one for me). The PS+ Collection is very welcome, but disappointed I didn't see anything about BC improvements.

Surprised God of War and Harry Potter is coming next year. 2021 could be an amazing year.

Thought it was very underwhelming, admittedly Demons Souls looked gorgeous but everything else was pretty meh. One or two games looked PS360 quality, the rest was the same old with a lick of 4k paint. I've said before, its hard to get excited when you've got current gen systems still churning out games like TLOU2.

That digital PS5, how much are Sony losing on it!?!? :messenger_grimmacing_

Pre-order 22nd Sep

So PS5 perorders tomorrow morning then.

The only moment that looked next gen in that entire showcase was the lighting on the first Demon Souls boss.

Looked incredible.

Nice price points.

Pretty games but nothing I need atm.
PSPlus greatest hits (beefing up that launch purchase for their fans), and a so-so launch lineup.

Seems like Microsoft and Sony don't have THE launches this time around.
Definitely fun for PS must have fans.
Year 2 and onward will be much more interesting for these consoles. Can't wait to see.

DS looks proper.
Final Fantasy why you do me like this.

100 dollars for a BD Drive :messenger_tears_of_joy:

No, they're just trying to price it low to attract price conscious buyers. The cost of the drive itself (plus having two manufacturing lines) is only part of the discount; the rest is Sony purposefully taking a hit on cost. They know they can make that cost back on the extra cut they get from digital games.

Best thing on there was Demons Souls, and i'd buy Oddworld. Thats about it for me

Spiderman looked like generic shite as usual 'Push square, save bus!!' Fucking yawn.

Not gonna lie, my hype was non-existent, so I was not disappointed, but when the best thing you show is a remake, I wasn't exactly thrilled neither.

To me it sounds like both MS and Sony want everyone to go digital, Xbox with the series S and Sony with the discless Ps5 in no way shape or form a BR drive costs 100€ that may be subsidizing the costs so everyone jumps on the digital train

I'm gutted that l wont be pre-ordering PS5 day 1 like l did with PS3 and PS4.

No first party games l want such at GT7 or Horizon II.
