Are you sure thats not the old MGS demo working on Gen-B, not the new one? The old one still works on Gen-D as well for me.

If so, that means GEN-D is a big pile of wank and the exact reason why Team GEN seem kinda incompetent.

According to quite a few sources, both demo's work on B, whilst only the first works with D.

To be honest, a 6.00+ CFW is well due at this point and I'm also uncertain of their ability to pull it off.

However, all recently published games/retail/PSN all work with the existing CFW, with just PSP2 demo and maybe one or two more demo's yet to work.

When proper full games start not working on CFW, we'll see something new, but that's still abit off yet.

And I miss Dark Alex and his team. =(

Chriiiist is NPDecryptor meant to be this slow? Wild Arms XF has taken 40 minutes so far, and has an estimated 15 minutes left (which will probably take more than 15 minutes; the initial estimated time was 35 minutes).

So I'm going to update to 5.50 Gen-B from 5.00 M33.

Do I have to update to Gen-A fist?

I actually went straight from M33 to Gen-D, so I doubt it.

As far as I can tell, this is the safest why to go about doing it.... but I went straight from m33-6 to GEN D without my PSP going up in smoke, then ran the D2 updater. Your mileage may vary!

Of course the safest way to jump straight to the latest is to do it from Pandora / Xgen updater.

Oh, and always reset the theme to the original if you have a custom one loaded.

Well damn. After the 1hr15m it took to decyrpt Wild Arms XF, it didn't work. Apparently my memory card didn't have enough space on it. Attempt number 2, go! :(

Keep thinking each time I see this topic there will be news or something. Demos posing harder to crack than full retail releases or something? Come on Team GEN.

More like PSN releases are getting harder to run on CFW and possibly decrypt with NPDecryptor.
Maybe they took Mathieulh (of Dark Alex fame) advice on how to improve PSP game security?

Mega Man X3 PS1 is being a major pain in the ass for me. Has anyone been able to get it to work.

The SNES emulator has problems with the SNES copy of the game (real bad slowdown in the underwater level with the sub), and here's the two problems I get with the PS1 copy

A) Leaving it in PAL results in a lockup at the Now loading screen

B) Converting it to NTSC gets the game to work, but the video is totally off-center (cut off at the bottom of the screen).

Has anyone been able to get it to work?

Is there an easier way to upgrade from custom firmware 3.40 OE-A to 5.50 GEN-D running off of a PSP 1001?

3.40OE is quite an old CFW so your upgrade route is going to take a while.
Off the top of my head, you need to update to 3.52 M33, then onto 3.71 M33 and onto 4.01 M33 or 5.00 m33.
From experience 5.50 GEN-D update doesn't work on 3.71 M33 CFW, needs to 4.01 or higher.

Now, if you have a Pandora battery you could do it all in one step. You could convert your PSP battery to Pandora, download Dark_AleX DC V8 along with Sony 5.00FW and make Pandora Memory Stick. Then download 5.50 GEN-D CFW (in this CFW archive is an updater to update DC V8 to flash direct to 5.50 GEN-D with Pandora) and run X-GEN updater.
This would then allow you flash direct to 5.50 GEN-D from 3.40OE or any PSP FW.

I have 5.50 GEN-D and bought Half-Minute Hero from the PSN store (via Sony GO) and the game will not start. I get error 80020148. Game plugins are off. Anyone know what's going on?

My quick suggestions: you're in your own region, yes? IE if you bought it from the US store, you're not still on UK/JPN activated account?

Secondly, download NPDecrypted and try decyrpting it, mebbe?

That's what I was afraid of, in regards to the first method, thanks for the insight....

I heard to convert the battery to Pandora you must remove a pin, I'm going to have to pull a full tutorial.... Now the memory card going pandora hmmm I flashed my cfw in spring 07 so it was the first & last time....

I'm just pissed because I can no longer play some of my older titles that I bought & I cannot play any of my recent games....
I have a stack of awsome umds just rotting away, I'm just a sucker for old school emulation....

I just upgraded to D2 from 5.02 Gen-A (through 5.50 B2->D->D2) with no problems.

My 2gb mem stick is starting to fill up, where is the best place to buy 16gb/8gb memory cards?

Is ebay safe a safe bet for legitimate mem stick (as long as the buyer isn't from china etc)? Or am I better off just getting it from amazon?

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM EBAY.
I swear 99% of Memory Sticks and PSP batteries are fakes. Your mileage may vary with them but I got stung once and I don't like seeing people getting had also.

As for the cheapest, it depends if you are in Europe or US.
For me in Europe, mymemory.co.uk, Amazon UK & MX2.co.uk are all good value.
I recently got a genuine 16GB card for around £60 delivered.

No need to do the pin mod on batteries anymore, seeing as you are already on 3.40OE.
You just need to find any program that can make a Pandora battery for you by writing a certain serial no. to it.

This program should work to convert your battery:
http://pspupdates.qj.net/Hellcat-s-Pandora-Installer-for-3-xx-Revision-3-now-out/pg/49/aid/110545

Then download DC V8 here. Copy the DC8 folder to PSP/GAME. Download the Sony 5.00FW and copy the root of your MS and rename to 500.PBP.
Run the program to make the Pandora Memory Stick and afterwards download the 5.50 GEN-D CFW and copy the XGEN folder to PSP/GAME. Run the program to make your Pandora Memory Stick now boot to 5.50 GEN-D installer.

Then shutdown your PSP, remove and insert the battery and your PSP should then boot up with the XGEN installer and select the first option to install 5.50 GEN-D.

I got it in the US store and haven't messed with any other regions. I could try decrypting it but at that point i could just download it. CFW is getting to be more pain then it's worth. Where art thou Dark Alex?

I've never tried converting a PSN download to an ISO but I know it can be done because this is what the pirate groups do. Kind of sad, though, that you have to resort to that when you're trying to be a legitimate customer.

You don't even need a pandora for anything below 5.03 FW. Just install the official 5.03, run chickhen, then run the CFW installer for Hen to go to 5.50-Gen-A/B/D whatever or 5.00 M33. Yes, it's that easy. It's not as troublesome, takes less time and has fewer points of failure.

True, plus the fact that you can't even make your own softmod Pandora unless:
- You already have a modded PSP
- It is an older PSP phat... doesn't work on slims

One of the nice things about GEN though is that they have the Pandora softmod function built right into the VSH menu, for those that can use it.

As for hard modding, I'd just as soon buy a battery from dealextreme for about 8 bucks.

You couldn't update to OFW from CFW until you were on 3.71 M33. Any of the older CFW, like the poster, will either have to be updated by going through the 3.52--401 M33 and then onto 5.50 GEN-D or make a Pandora and do a flash mod.

Hey guys, quick question.

I want to buy the digital version of Final Fantasy 7 from PSN and put it on my PSP and my little brother's PSP. I already have my PSP updated to CFW 5.50 GEN and I will update my little brother's PSP in a little bit (mine was a test subject, and I went from M33 to Gen A to Gen D without a hitch)

My question is this, can you download the game on the PS3 and put it on two separate PSP's? How do you authenticate it since I can't seem to log into PSN through the PSP using Gen D?

Thanks for any help.

I have official firmware 6.00 (on a PSP 2000 v3).

Can I install this 5.50 GEN-D?

I'm completely new to the PSP homebrew scene, and don't even know where to begin. It's all very confusing, and any help would be fantastic.

If it is a TA-088V3 board, you are screwed because you installed something above 5.03 official firmware. Is that what you mean by V3? Are you sure it's a V3? If it is actually older, you can use a Pandora battery.

yeah, but you have to use the same PSN-account on both PSPs.

I have a V2, is there a way for me without using a pandora battery? I don't have one and last time I just used that Chicken thing, but I'm on OFW 6.00 now, so that won't work right?

Is there a way to get Remote Play over Internet working with CFW? It asks me to update my firmware when I try to use it. It's the same message that appears when I try to use the store.

I have 5.50 GEN-C on the PSP and most recent PS3 firmware.

No, at present you can neither use PSN on PSP, play games through PSN or Remote Play through PSN using CFW.
I would also update to 5.50 GEN-D2 due to some bad bugs in GEN-C.

Is this just applicable to 5.50 GEN? Because I'm pretty sure Remote Play is possible with 5.00 M33.

AFAIK its applicable to all CFW variants, GEN & M33.
Basically anything that uses or runs through PSN is locked out for CFW users.

Here's a stupid question:

I just ordered a new, bigger (16gb!) memory card for my PSP. Is there anything special I need to do in order get my old saves and backups from my old memory card?

My plan of attack is

-backup current card in its entirety to pc
-put new card in and format it via psp
-copy the backup in it's entirety to the new memory stick

Am I missing anything that I should be doing to move all my files over to the new memory stick?

That'll do it. All the PSP looks for is the files.

Hombrew coming to the Go soon?

Here's a piece of good news to the PSP homebrew community. Early last month, as some of you may recall, FreePlay has released a video showing us that he has successfully hacked Sony's latest handheld iteration that got everyone buzzing with excitement. Well, now he's back to give us a status update on his project. According to his YouTube channel post, he is now making progress on the exploit with his NID resolver working flawlessly, and if he can get the eLoader source to work, we may have a PSP Go eLoader soon that will allow us to run our favorite homebrews on the PSP Go.

I always feel dumb asking. I'm on GEN-B and I got GEN-D. What do I put where to update correctly?

Also, I need D before I get D2 right?

I don't really know where else to post this and since I run CFW I figured this would be a good place to ask.

I have a launch Japanese PSP1000 and I just updated my PSP from CFW 5.00 to 5.50-D so I can use my new GPS and purchased copy Maplus Portable Navi3. I never used the top expansion port for anything besides transfering gamesaves and music with the mini USB-B connection and playing Policenauts and I am wondering why my GPS USB module won't work with my updated CFW version and Maplus3 UMD.

I am wondering if the hardware is my problem because the side copper contact holes seem kind of dirty from never being plugged-up or used. There are two short copper nubs on each side of the usb port on the GPS receiver that plugs into the PSP. Would having dirty contacts there be a problem? Or is it just a way to keep it sitting straight in the PSP?

Second, is there a known issue with certain PSP models and newer firmware updates disabling GPS receiver support? Any information would be appreciated as I need to find out if I can remedy this before the grace period for returns rolls over by the end of this week. Thanks!

You need to apply the GEN-D update first as GEN-D2 is just a small patch.

Download the GEN-D and copy the UPDATE folder to PSP/GAME on your Memory Stick.

No clue if it'd work with Senjou, but the PSP2 demo works now for psp2k-3ks on 5.03 GEN B

http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170400

rofl. Of course, it doesn't mean you can play infra tho, since that requires a psn sign on etc, but you can do ad-hoc party.

So GEN-D was a really shitty ass release. How on earth do I downgrade back to Gen-B? No wait hang on, thats 5.03 thats miles back god dammit! ARRRRGH.

Plus the rest of that topic says he's lying. I think I'm gonna have to get a Pandora and go official for LBP PSP and PSP2 since theyre gonna require PSN access. How annoying :/

Pandora down to m33? then to 5.03. Or.. you could go legit. Then you can download the Emilia theme, and enter the drawing for a chance to play the online trial :D Tonight's the 2nd drawing!

Your problem is probably either 1) CFW or 2) GPS hardware problem. It's been a long time since I used my PSP GPS so I can't say if the latest CFW properly supports the GPS, but back then, there were definitely times when CFW not working with GPS. You may consider trying out the homebrew MapThis! to see if it recognizes the GPS or not to narrow down the issue.

No one will release a new CFW for a bunch of demoes.

Also, LBP works with the existing CFW's, apparently it's been leaked and works fine.
