Nice, PSNLover works. But should I create a dummy account? I rarely play my PS3, and the only game I've bought over PSN is Flower (I only own GOW3, dont care about trophies).

Seriously? I'm on D3, put the version 2 of PSNFucker/Lover on it, edit the seplugins and vhs.txt, nada. Says it can't connect.
Did you change the two options in recovery/configuration menu?
Fake UMD Region -> Debug Type 1
M33 Network Update -> Disabled

There wasn't any mention of that in the readmes I had.

Guess I'll redownload and try it again. I want those Uniqlo shirts (esp the BB as Che one).

Just as I expected, I just bought MGS peace Walker and it doesnt work on my PSP with CFW 5.50 gen D...

can I make an ISO of my UMD and patch it with that prometeus patch some guys are talking about? I dont want to upgrade my FW just to play it, although I will if there is no other option :(

Was in my readme, though I'm using the older PSNFucker beta 2.

That's the FW I have. I ripped it to my stick and used the 620.prx that has been mentioned a lot here.

Thanks can you tell me what homebrew did you use to dump the UMD?
Nothing, just hit select on the XMB and the CFW menu should pop up.
Change USB to UMD and when you turn on your USB connection your computer should read the drive instead of the memory stick. Simply copy it to your computer and rename and switch back to your memory stick.

I didnt know that, Just did and it is really easy, copying the UMD right now :D

Yup!

I stored all my UMD games this way so I never have to get them out of storage now.

Now there's even further steps you can do with other PC software to compress those ISOs a bit and turn them into CSO files. Also remove dummy data and updates, etc. Some shrink by a lot, some just a little bit.

Most games run well as CSO, but some need to be ISO to avoid glitches.
With Peace Walker, it only shaves 100mb off the ISO file so I left it as is.

That worked. I reput my PSN account on the PSP, now it's throwing out that it wants a system update and won't let me enter the store, nor use Peace Walkers code menu. :(

did you make the .txt files also?

Yes. Having no account on it and rebooting lets me back into the store. Making an account/recovering my account (my PS3 ID) makes it want a system update and PW won't let me use the codes because it has to go through PSN/requires FW update. Ugh.

Hmm, gotta be something off.
I did the steps I mentioned, and also the game.txt and vsh.txt edits.

And I did those. Like I said, no account lets me into the store just fine. Using my account meanwhile won't let me do shit. :/

Are you using Lover or Fucker?
Can't believe I wrote that.

That sucks man, I'm definitely able to use my main PSN account.

Is there a way to get around demos that require a higher firmware?

6.20.prx, if they work like my PSN copy of Peace Walker.

BTW, changing it to PSNlover and editing the files to point to lover worked. Thanks. Now to get the shirts.

Yeah which one to use, are they the same thing just renamed?

And can you play PSN demos just fine, or do you need to patch those too?

EDIT: Nevermind, questions answered in the last two posts! :lol

ah fuck it. Apparently I have to edit something in the flash, I'd rather avoid that.

What, version.txt? I've done it five times. It's simple and save. Just go to flash0:/etc/vsh/version.txt (IIRC the path) change whatever your firmware number is (5.50?) to 6.20/620 wherever there is 5.50/550 in that file. Save, close connection to flash0, recovery menu->config->use version.txt? (ENABLE)

It's totally safe, just don't mess with anything else in the flash0.

Seks, let me know if you're able to get the shirts without the game crashing/freezing.

I got quite a few, but every three shirts or so, the game would freeze, and I'd have to restart to get more.

Only time the game ever freezes on me.

wait, how do I enter the recovery menu?

Yeah, that's all you do. It's a simple firmware spoof. People have been doing it since FF7/last E3 when the M33 didn't want to run it because of a firmware check in the eboot.

dallow_bg said:

I got them all without crashing, thanks. Now to just wait for DLC to hit the US servers. :lol

... This has to be asked at least five times every page.

Update to GEN as if you were updating M33 to a newer M33. Simple.

In fact, it's even easier now.

5.50 firmware->550.pbp root of drive.

/psp/game/update/genupdatestuffinhere

5.50-GEN-D3 update app in XMB.

????

PROFIT!

So the demo, it launched at first, but then gave me the "game could not be started" error. hmmm It usually just told me i needed to update, so i did something right, but im still missing something.

Oh, do I still need the 6.20 prx?

Yes. If you're getting game can't be started and don't have the .prx, there is your answer.

.prx was needed for my PSN copy of Peace Walker to even BOOT, it just gave me "ZOMG CAN'T START" until I used the 6.20.prx Go grab it. Put it in seplugins. Edit the game.txt file with "ms0:/seplugins/620.prx 1" (or whatever the path is, copy PSNfucker/lover and just edit it to the 620.prx name) and start the game again after a PSP (and config plugin check) reboot.

Yup, it's working now :)

Man, the PSP scene has changed so much since I left it. I used to be heavily into it back in 2005-2007 (I was a Mod at pspupdates.com and wrote some Lua tutorials), but then I just stopped paying attention. I just hacked my PSP about a month ago and all this progress is blowing my mind :lol

Thanks. I was told somewhere that since I'm pretty old I'd need to update in steps in a certain order. If it's that easy then well, sorry for wasting time. :p

I'm having trouble playing demos. I get the message game could not be started. I have 6.20 prx in my seplugins, and saved m33_620prx 1 in those txt files. Change my version txt to 6.20 and have it enabled in recovery menu. I'm stumped!

Maybe it has something to do if you have to be on M33-6 or GEN-D3... ? That tutorial says the PRX is for M33-6, does that mean that I need to switch from GEN-D3?

I just bought a PSP today. It's an old fat one with System Software 3.51 M33

From looking through this thread, that seems like a very old firmware. Unfortunately the Dark Alex site is down. Can anyone point me in the right direction to learn how to upgrade the firmware myself? Hopefully I can do it without buying the Pandora batter..

I made a mirror of the dark-alex website a year or so ago, http://gamesquare.co.uk/wdax

You probably don't need it now though :lol

You may have to change the steps a little to get from M33 to GEN. But it's pretty much THAT simply. GEN is practically a copy-paste of M33, so using that same process (with a few changes) is like riding a bike.

You shouldn't need to. Anything from PSN I've tried with the 620.prx has ran fine on D3. :/

how can i play .flv files with PMPlayer Advance v3.1.0 on m33-6?

when i select a video it quickly flashes the loading screen then goes back to the video select menu.

only psp mpeg4 videos will play.

Hello,

I'll ask one more time since I'm kinda desperate. I really really want to play Disgaea Infinite, but every time I try to decrypt the EBOOT I keep getting this message.

DisgaeaInfinite_problem.jpg

So as it stands, I can't play the game. Help?

5.55 and 6.10 as well.

I don't see any mention of 6.20 there. Try to find an updated decrypter as 6.20 is the latest firmware and what most modern releases want?

Using Yoshihiro Decrypter v4, is there a later version?

EDIT: Also my PSP is a 2000, not a 3000. Is that an issue perhaps?

EDIT EDIT: Also, 5.50 GEN D-3

No, I've never done that. I've never heard of it, so I guess I'll have to do some research. Thanks!

You'll need to edit the version.txt, which isn't totally safe, but safe if you only go where you need to and get out of flash0 after.

But that should work. It's been running things that require 6.20 for me just fine. *shrug* Can't hurt to see if that works.

Wasn't the version.txt trick beaten by Sony a while back? Mejlan said something to that degree yesterday I believe.

Also, tried the Prometheus decrypting tool?

I forget, in order to do this right, which of the below numbers do I change?

release:9.90:
build:6666,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
system:54865@release_610,0x09090010:
vsh:p6501@release_610,v55286@release_610,20121221:
target:1:WorldWide

EDIT: Found the FAQ for this, never mind.

Haven't tried that one, I'll have to look at that too.

EDIT: That method states I have to decrypt the old EBOOT first, which is where I'm getting stuck in the first place?
