Copied over my non-patched versions of Peace Walker, Prince of Persia, Hexyz Force, Disgaea Infinite, and Harvest Moon. They all load on the new Prometheus CFW without a hitch. In the case of Hexyz Force and Prince of Persia, my existing saves even loaded without issue.

Edit - Friend just asked me to test the Peace Walker UMD.
Game loaded just fine from the disc. I'm impressed.

Woot! Will try that! I have both UMD (PSP2000) and PSN (PSPGo) versions so if my 2K can load the UMD, it'll be good for coop madness!

Installed the Promethius 5.50 over my GEN-D3, still can't load the Hot Shots Tennis demo. Game could not be started 80010087. Bummer dude.

Quick questions, as I bought a PSP 3004 last week:

1) I can't make image files of my old PS1 games and play them on the PSP without CFW, right?
2) Is there CFW for the 3004 models? If so, what do I need to install it, and how do I install it?
3) By installing CFW, I can also run emulators on the PSP?

There's going to be a Patapon 3?!
And there's already a demo!?

Awesome.
I'll try to figure something out tonight.

1) right
2) yes, but you have to be on official 5.03 firmware. Anything below that just grab the 5.03 and update, above that you're SOL.
3) yes

I installed the 5.03 prometheus last night on my PSP and DOA Paradise loaded right up. This means I can go back to buying games instead of not playing my PSP!

So with that Prometheus install, you don't need to downgrade to D2 anymore? There was a file some guys used here before starting the game to temporarily downgrade.

I keep posting in this thread about updating my PSP-1000 from 5.00 M33-6 with custom Popsloader, but never go and do it because I'm afraid I'm going to break my custom Popsloader compatibilities (I need to play the PSX FF games, Grandia, BOF3, R-Type Delta and such ). The PSP games I have played don't need the newer firmwares, either - so it was no rush.

In order to play Gran Turismo and MGS5 though, I gotta move up I guess. This Prometheus stuff can't be done w/M33-6, right? Will I need to make a new custom Popsloader to use with 5.50 GEN-D3 and the Prometheus update?

Thanks. I'm on FW 6.20, so I guess I'm SOL then :(

I wouldn't try applying the Prometheus update to anything other than its intended CFW.
The 5.00 POPSLoader works just fine with 5.50 Gen.
Team Gen even released their own version of POPSLoader for Gen CFW (it's what I use), but I don't think it actually brings anything new to the table over DAX's last POPSLoader.

Honestly, if the only thing holding you back is POPSLoader, there's nothing really holding you back.

I never had to downgrade to D2, so actually, I'm not sure what that's about.
Strange, I remember people saying it froze after the first mission when they were on GEN-D3 and later some guy made a couple of files that temporarily downgraded the console to D2 so you could get past the freezing loading screen. What did you do to not run into this? :D

I uh... I don't even know what game you're talking about.

He's probably talking about MGS Peace Walker. It gives out a black screen after the 1st mission if you're on GEN-D3.

Weird, I installed the Prometheus CFW and tried my MGS PW UMD, I get a "Cannot start game (00numbers)"

Is there anything I must set in the CFW itself?

I installed Prometheus and fired up Peace Walker no problem. Haven't played it, just wanted to see if it would start. Thanks again Mej.

Does the Hot Shots Tennis demo work?

I helped a friend of mine upgrade to Gen-D3, and then install the Prometheus patch.
He's a few missions into Peace Walker and has experienced no issues so far.

For my part, when I tested the ISO and UMD last night... that was the first time I even picked up the game since Amazon shipped out my preorder. :)

The JP version?
Probably. I heard they got it working around the same time as Kingdom Hearts, but I don't have either game so I can't confirm any details.

This may be unrelated to homebrew but maybe some of you may have had the same experience I had...

I decided my 6 year old original shell for my PSP needed a fresh facelift. So I bought a replacement case off ebay. The case its self was fine buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I pulled a bonehead move and rushed reassembling my JPN PSP1000 launch system and damaged/unseated the backlight retention clip that is attached to the motherboard. Now I've got a PSP that has no way to connect the backlight cable.

I bought a replacement clip off ebay for 2 dollars including shipping. Hopefully I can solder it back on properly so I can see my PSP screen again. I guess I've learned my lesson to not force something and take my time. I really should have known better after working on similar micronized electonics for most of my life. Hopefully I can revive my poor baby.

Have any of you had any experience resoldering such small things back onto the psp's motherboard? ;_;

Can I run newer UMDs (LBP, Modnation Racers, Peace Walker) and access PSN store/use DLC/original Minis using Prometheus?

Mejilan

Prometheus should run the games.
The PSN Lover plug-in should get you access to the store and multiplayer.

I haven't tested either fully, since I'm totally engrossed in Strange Journey for the DS.
I only applied the Prometheus update and briefly tested a few games in order to update this thread.

On that note, I don't have a link handy, but v3 of the Prometheus patches for 5.50 Gen and 5.03 Gen are available.

Mejilan, which version of Prince of Persia did you try on Prometheus?I installed Prometheus v3 on a friend's PSP and tried his Euro copy of Prince of Persia (unpatched of course) but it did not load, gave the same error like on GEN-D3 (The game could not be started).
Any idea what could be the problem? I tried disabling all the plugins, but that did not work either.

I apologize for the slightly off-topic-ness, but I know part of the CFW stuff people do is being able to rip your games from UMD to a memory card, so I was just wondering about memory cards, what's the best price for what's being offered (in the US)? I think I have a 4GB one and it's kinda low, not sure if I should just get another one the same size or look for something with more capacity. Trying to avoid used since I'm a bit wary of them.

Vol, you're probably better off avoiding memory stick pro duos. Amazon yourself a Photofast microSD adapter and get two 8GB or 16GB microSD cards instead. Or hell, two 4GB cards.

Unpatched US ISO that I dumped myself.
Try redumping your game to guarantee that it's clean and legit.

Hey guys I was wondering if I could get some help

I am getting my first PSP next week (wooo cheap Hannah Montanna PSP *shivers*) Anyway its a PSP 3000 I was wondering if they have CFW for this yet? I dont wanna have to carry around my UMD's and I dont want a Go cause its much more expensive I would appreciate the help thanks.

Well for the 3000, there is Hen, but once you turn it off or it loses power, you got to reinstall the cfw again. It installs to the flash memory.

Should be cheap depending on what you need...

Prices according to SonyStyle Canada... (read: MSRP, you might find cheaper elsewhere)
8GB = 54.99
16GB = 124.99
32GB = 199.99

Cryptik: If you look back a page, seems like PSP-3000 has CFW but it depends on the firmware your system has stock...

quick question, i'm running 5.00 m33-6 and want to play monster hunter with a friend via ad hoc party on the ps3, will connecting a custom firmware'd psp to my ps3 (i never have out of fear) get my psn account banned? :(

Finally got Half Byte Loader running on my PSP 3001. It's rather neat, I feel like I'm getting a lot more worth out of my purchase. Here's hoping some geniuses get CFW going on 5.03+ firmwares. I'd like to rip all my UMDs to my 16gb memory stick. I just got Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe and I love it! Opened me up to a genre of games I didn't even think I'd like.

Nope, you should be fine.

Are there any recorded cases of people being banned for custom firmware?

I don't think there is a way for Sony to detect CFW in Adhoc Party.
You could have a PSP with firmware 1.0 and playing a game via Adhoc Party, it would be the same.

Thats a bit more reassuring. :0

I'll register my psp with my ps3 and i'll report if i get banned in the future >.>

your firmware infomation is not sent via ad-hoc party, only the game information is. In order for sony to be able to detect custom firmware via ad-hoc party the developer would have to put that feature in the game themself and even then you could use something like CWcheat to block/edit the info.

Do not use the remote play over internet on your PSP or connect to the PSN on it and you'll never get banned. Connecting to the PSN on your PS3 with your PSP connected to it is fine (USB), as is connecting your PSP to PS3 for local remote play.

In short - Your fine.

Do not buy a Pro Duo. Buy 2 MicroSD's and an adapter for them. Much cheaper, larger storage and faster if you disable MagicGate (use IRShell on 5.00-6). I got myself a 2x8GB Micro SD with adapter for around $75 or so around 2 years or more ago. You could easily get 2x16GB for the same price now.

There is a v4 for Prometheus' CFW.

Tried it with my UMD of Peace Walker, it's working!

It wasn't with v2.

I am happy. :)

Tried v4 and still can't load the UMD. Could you please link me to the same version you've downloaded?

I've pretty much given up on getting my Peace Walker to work. I think I'll just buy a second PSP for it >.>

With the advent of this new Prometheus CFW, I've got a question or two for you guys.

I own a PSP-1000 and have been using CFW for quite some time. Last year when I bought Persona PSP, I had to upgrade out of my comfort zone to the GEN firmware and patch my UMD rip.

I updated to 5.50 GEN-B (Full) at the time and haven't since. It seems to get to Prometheus, which now supports games without patching, I need to upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3.

I was wondering if there was a tutorial or something around that I could follow? I've done numerous CFW updates since I bought this thing years ago, but I get nervous about bricking it every time.

Thanks guys.

Hey GAF, need your help, maybe you could inform me.

So I have a PSP 2000 with the TA-088v2 and official firmware 6.20. So my PSP can have CFW if I buy a pandora battery and a magic memory card, just wondering if there is an exploit I could use to install CFW as appose to buying anything, last time I installed a CFW I used the ChickHEN thing, but it's been fixed.
