Yeah I tried GAME371 but it just shows up as a corrupt file in the game tab. Just loaded up the ChillyWilly key fix and it found a couple of corrupted keys - repaired them successfully but I'm still getting the message.

I have 2 psp batteries, so that could work. Could you give me a link with all the details plz.

all of those are slim compatible in their latest versions.

CPS2 on the PHAT PSP worked 100% perfect on most games. It had problems running some games like Darkstalkers but that was a couple of releases ago.

Also the GBA emus were working 100% with full sound and graphics Megaman Zero 1-4 ran perfectly.
 
After reading about these issues with 3.80 M33-4, I too have been thinking of going back to 3.71 M33-4. I noticed playing puzzle quest that there is some real slow down. I have one of the first fat psp's. How would i go about going back to 3.71 M33-4? Pandora?

Oh if i had to do that, (haven't researched this much) but you need to do something to the battery, well i still have my orginal stock battery some where, but what i'm using is a 2200mAh battery (supposedly offical sony, i got it from best buy).

Just trying to see whats involved. Thanks.
 
I remember someone posting a guide on how to do all the pandora stuff with a Max Tool battery, a search hasn't yielded anything, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I hope the Sony NP9660 loader gets fixed soon...
I'm getting framerate and sound problems [nothing major or game-breaking, but still annoying] :( ...
 
Wait are people able to use CFW and Remote Play with PS3s??? I'd love to set this up if it is true... Only thing I don't really like about my PSP atm.

I've been able to do it since day 1 of Remote Play. ALWAYS custom firmware.

The PS3 basically does the equivalent of checking one .dll file on the PSP to see if it should work or not.

Also I'm pretty sure the PSP will never stealth update for any reason, it always has to get you to confirm the T&C page, and confirm you actually want to flash your firmware, make sure your power supply is plugged in, make sure you dont turn the power off while an update is being flashed etc

If you already have a Datel TOOL battery, you can make the Pandora MS part using a program called TotalNewbieEasyInstaller found here.

I should enable you to make the make Pandora MS using DC V3 which is Slim PSP compatible,
 
I just picked up a PSP slim and wouldn't mind getting into the homebrew scene. What should I be looking for on ebay when it comes to Pandora Batteries? I might try to find someone local to do it but I'm curious about all my options.

Also, are you able to switch back and forth between custom and stock firmware?

Not sure about getting Pandora Batteries, but I think just a PSP Slim Pandora Battery will be fine, and you need a memory stick big enough to be a Pandora Stick. With the Pandora Battery you can switch back and forth between custom and stock firmware, but there is little to no point in doing this, and the main use for it is to put CFW on Slims, unbrick your PSP, or to just downgrade if the new firmware is a bit dodgy.

Sounds good. So it is probably best just to find someone who can do it for me and upgrade to the next firmware when I know it isn't dodgy. Do you need a pandora battery when you upgrade firmware?

Phat PSP and Slim PSP batteries can be made into Pandora Batteries. If you were to buy one 95% chance it'll be a phat PSP which works in Slim PSP fine.

eBay is a terrible, terrible place to buy anything PSP related. If you need a Pandora Battery, buy a Datel TOOL battery rather than get scammed on eBay. Aslo never buy Memory Stick from eBay, 99% of them are fakes.

Pandora isn't needed when you upgrade to next firmware, its only used to get you onto custom firmware. There is also no need to switch between official Sony and CFW.
CFW is the official Sony FW, acts and looks the same, just with some extra additions.

Thanks for the words of warning. I'll look into this Datel TOOL battery business or try and find someone in the city who can do it.
 
You can get a Datel TOOL Battery from www.codejunkies.com and I'd probably recommend a Fatty, not a Slim. Fatty's work with Slims as well, but using a Slim on a Fatty can destroy the PSP. This is true of official batteries converted to Pandoras, not sure about the Datel versions. Better safe than sorry, I'd say.

Thanks, I got someone in my area to do the hack for now but I may invest in having a battery available just for future use.
 
I used a Datel Tool battery (phat) but with a CFW to create my memory stick. Its not as hard creating a Pandora battery as you may think but the tool battery is great lazyness. :lol

Its also nice in that its a big red battery with TOOL on it so you'll always know which one is your Pandora.

Can you use it as a normal battery too? I go on some pretty long journeys, and I was thinking of getting this for Pandora use when the time comes and as a 2nd battery for travel, thanks.
 
I was wondering what the current "best" PC Engine emulator is now for PSP? I had PSPCE a ways back (back in the 1.50 days) but was wondering if there were any big improvements.

Dunno if you got my messages last night, but as far as I can tell, neither PCEP or HUE have received any real updates since around mid-2005 (when last I dabbled with them). You CAN get PCE CD games running on 'em, but either without the mp3 playback working, or working spotty at best (music that skips, jumps, garbles, and doesn't loop, and sound effects that are missing, cut off, improperly emulated, etc.)

Scoured 6, 12, and 18 month old message postings looking for any kind of advice, and it seems that the emulators just didn't come far enough along before being abandoned.

As for SMS emulators with working FM unit emulation, the only one that I found that actually worked is PSP Master (abandoned quite incomplete in mid-2006). But the FM music sounds nowhere NEAR as good as the youtube link you sent me, or my own experimentations with more robust and complete SMS emulators for the PC.

I totally struck out. :(

SMS Plus PSP has an FM sound toggle, but it doesn't actually work. At least, not with Phantasy Star I. And I can confirm that the ROM is good, since I did get the FM music working with this rom on 2 different emulators.
 
Another update out, M33-5 after less than 1 week.

Changes:
- Fixed custom CPU clock not working in games
- CPU clock has never (in any SE/OE/M33) be set at all in games that restarted using sceKernelLoadExec to use a subgame or reload themselves,
after said restart happened (e.g. Castlevania). Fixed.
- Added setting to recovery to hide PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG in the XMB game menu
By default off, when on you will probably notice a faster browse in XMB games.
This setting only applies to any kind of apps/games (pbp, iso) that load from MS, but not to UMD's.

Is there a PSP homebrew software thread around on GAF? If not then we need one imo. I hate going through psp-updates and other homebrew sites, it's hard to find the quality stuff.

You're right, I'm never quite sure which homebrew apps and things are the best ones on those sites. This thread is quite good for new homebrew news but I wouldn't be against a dedicated one.

You can either buy a separate battery (such as the Sony extended battery) or use the stock battery that comes with your psp and pop a certain pin on each model and bam, pandora battery.

Then just use TotalNewbieinstaller or your preferred method of pandora stick creation and go to town.

After that, just use the battery you didn't use for the pandora battery in the psp.
 
Network update really made this easy - we would have had to dick around with inserting/ejecting memory sticks and finding update files before this magic.
 
There aren't any good snes emulators from what ive seen.

Also I have that sega master system emulator and it works to mixxed results.. sonic chaos runs like crap sound wise, while other games are OK.

I was happy with the performance of the snes9x port that I used earlier but that doesn't work on my 3.80, is there a 3.80 version out there?
 
That option to hide the backgrounds and stuff on everything in your game folder definitely makes browsing games faster. Not as visually interesting, of course.

I thought SNES9X 0.4.2 TYL ran fine? If you have phat PSP, install the 1.50FW addon, to get it working again.
If you have Slim PSP, there is a 3.XX kernel version around aswell.

Wait what's this 1.50fw add on? God in like 2005 I was so knowledgeable about cfws but now I'm clueless.

1.50FW addon enables use of homebrew written using 1.50 code. With Sony FWs greater than 3.60, these are written using 3.XX kernel, so Dark_Alex added bits of 1.50FW kernel back in so you can run old homebrew.

Installation:
Download the 1.50FW addon for 3.80 and place in PSP/GAME380.
Download the Sony 1.50FW, rename 150.PBP and place in root of your Memory Stick.
