PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Every time you install new firmware, it "cleans' itself anyway. No worries there. And you don't need to keep any of those new files on your memory stick, either.

The ONLY confusing hurdle here is needing to go to 3.52 M33-4, which fixes an error in writing to the flash.

You need to go to 3.52 M33 (So, 150.pbp and 352.pbp)
3.52 M33 to 3.52 M33-4 (Running a simple patch)

From there you can prep yourself for the 3.80 M33 firmware tomorrow. You can download the 3.80 firmware to get ready.
Also keep the 1.50 FW on hand if you want to add that kernel.

Ok, so I'm about to do this all now. I'm at specifically 3.40 OE-A. I install 3.52 M33, then M33-4 then 3.80 M33? Will it "clean" itself this time as well since I'm going to M33? Thanks..don't want to read through the whole thread.

The screenshot I saw of the Internet Radio showed a nice GUI, but the app is crap imo. Takes ages to load, and then random station changes only? PSPRadio destroys it, I just wish there was a version that worked on 3.80 m33. Is there one?

I've downgraded back to 3.71 M33-4 for the moment also. Its not Dark_Alex's fault this firmware is so buggy, its just a poor firmware from Sony.

I would recommend people using Slim PSP to upgrade to 3.80 M33-2. There are no issues for the Slim with MS corruption or read/write speed.

Phat PSP users hold off for the moment until maybe DA releases M33-3 with patched fatmsmod from 3.71 or 3.52 firmware.

????

:lol, I cannot believe it... should we blame Sony because the optimizations/work they made to PSP's FW also happen to give DA problems as far as making his CFW's work properly is concerned ? WTF ?!?

...sigh...

The same MS issues are in the Sony 3.80FW and an even worse bug in PSX games has been patched, given a workaround in M33-2. The official Sony NP9660 ISO loader for PSN games in Sony 3.80FW has issues with new phat MS driver.

Does 1.50 Kernel addon for 3.80 work with PSP-2000? It's just that it says otherwise on dark-alex.org
No. 1.5 kernel is only for 1000 models.

Also, I haven't run into bugs yet on 3.80 M33-2, but we'll see. I didn't exactly stress the system too much.

1.50 addons are for fats only. They are completely not compatible with the Slim ever.

Really? The speed issue only occurs on the Phat?

3.80 M33-3 is on D_A's site and Network Update. It adds support for the new popsloader version, which is also on his site.

I love it when we get all these updates :D

Cool. I can go straight from m33-2 to m33-4 correct? (I have never tried it via the network)

Correct. Every new revision includes the fixes from the previous revision.

I'm new to the whole PSP CFW scene, what is this new popsloader update all about? I understand pops allows me to run PS1 games, but the readme for this one says that I can get older popsloaders. So how do I choose what popsloader to run with my PS1 games?

Fixes for M33-3:

Changes:

- Fixed synchronization issue that plugins check code caused in PSN NP9660 original games (fixes 0x80010013 error)
- Added a couple of libs to the nids resolver.
- Added some internal changes required by incoming 3.80 popsloader plugin.

Fixes for M33-4:

Quick bugfix for M33-3.

- galaxy.prx was changed to a new version that is giving problems with slow memory sticks.
Reverted back to previous versions. This didn't only affect decrypted isos running in NP9660 mode.

Yes it does.
That's good news. I don't think there's anything preventing me to upgrade now. Unless there are some major bugs that I'm not aware off? I don't use any custom plugins, except for popsloader btw.

The changelog just says that it reverts one file back to an older version to fix a problem with slow Memory Sticks. It changes more than one file, though, so who knows.

And i just copied Mejilan's example and downgraded to 3.71m33-4 from 3.80m33-2.

So is it all fixed in m33-4?

If so I'll upgrade again.

Give it another day or two and see how the changes to NP9660 driver are affecting ISO load times and read/write speeds.

I was tempted to downgrade to 3.71 M33-4, but I can't give up the net updater. I think I'll stick it out with 3.81 and hope D_A gets things smoothed out. Sony can't call off the hurricane. :D PEACE.

I don't notice a difference in the ISO loading times in M33-4. Still the same when I upgraded to 3.80.

Slow a bit.

Did they fix the problem with the save game icons changing to Dracula yet? That pissed me the fuck off too.

If he fixed the memory stick driver and the save file icon corruption, I MIGHT be tempted to upgrade again. But this time, definitely only the Slim. Fatty's staying at 3.71 M33-4 at least until a new UPMS Installer hits!

i dont know if anyone here can help me but on my psp that has custom firmware, im trying to update from 3.52 M33-4 to 3.80 M33 but the updater keeps saying that I need 3.52 M33-3 or higher to run the update.

i check the system setting and it says my firm is definitely 3.52 M33-4.

why is it not recognizing that the firmware is 3.52 M33-4?

is there a way to downgrade to 3.52 M33 and try to reinstall the update?
