...some stuff surprisingly smaller than I thought. And given only one game so far is above 900MB, I wonder of SCEI's pressing single layer UMDs?

Not important per se, but I find ROM sizes interesting. Probably a result of gaming before the PlayStation era. ;)

I question why this information is important beyond swashbuckling...

It does show that Sony's advertised "huge space advantage" over the DS isn't quite so impressive. Although, most early PS2 games were on CD as well and have now almost completely moved over to DVD.

This thread is now about the awesomeness that was John Candy

Why did you have to die :(

Where did you get these numbers?

I know for a fact that NBA Street is a LOT bigger than what you listed there (over one 1GB, 1.2 or 1.3GB I think) and Midnight Club 3 is 1.6GB. Ridge Racers is around 900MB I think.

it seems like the numbers in his list are RIPPED sizes, as in taking out movies, music, etc. to fit on small memory sticks :P

even then, the real numbers have some dummy files in a few games, so either list isn't going to be 100% accurate

Erm... I'm not posting a link because I'd rather not get banned. Maybe it's possible these figures aren't raw data dumps, but rather unique code per disc (leaving out repeat/dummy code, copy protection, OS updates, etc)?

Right, room to grow. It also opens up the possibility of doing things like the hybrid movie+game UMD they just announced (WipeOut Pure + Stealth).

Ripped and RAR-ed more likely :P
I don't think I've ever seen the rip of NBA Street or Midnight Club though (you'd wish there would be a way to play MC from the 1GB memory stick, heh)

Doubtful. It seems more like they are missing the music and videos. NBA Street for example, doesn't have any OS updates and dummy files, and the game is over 1GB.

This list is highly innacurate, and almost every game listed is significantly smaller than it really is.

Maybe for some... but others like Ridge Racer or Ape Escape seem on the mark. I doubt any of these have serious cuts, probably just recompressed video/music if that even.

You do you know the reason being for the small size are due to the art assets, right? The thing is because of the PSP's maximum resolution and the limit Sony put on the PSP, you aren't going to find alot of art resources being used.

Ridge Racer is over 900MB and it doesn't have any dummy files. Wipout Pure is ~300MB and it doesn't have any dummy files either.

If whoever you got this list from is recompressing video/audio files (which I haven't seen anyone doing for PSP rips yet) that makes it incaurrate as well. Ape Academy is ~350MB, no dummy files there either.

i also like to know why dynasty warriors is at 525 mb when i'm sure it's not even over 200 or 300 mb

I dunno, when everyone else is telling you that the list is inaccurate, maybe it's possible this list is inaccurate?

BTW, this list is inaccurate, from what I can tell. :)

Ack... well I guess the list's rather off then. :/

Though I remember hearing earlier that RR was only around 600MB and Ape Escape around 700MB. Can someone list the exact real values for these games then?

Untold Legends is missing a zero. It's about 800MB. I wanted to rip it to eliminate the frequent loading, but did not have enough room on my 1GB stick.
