PSP Go? 249.99!!!!

Well with the psp-2000, you needed a pandora battery to get into service mode. hence no battery, no service mode.
The battery's magic ability to switch the device into a special mode is what needed to be changed, not the battery itself. If the battery doesn't do anything but store electricity, it makes no difference if it's removable.

Maybe they couldn't change it.

SOOOOooo they went with the battery not being accessible.

No, they could have changed it if they wanted to. Service mode is a backdorr Sony put into the PSP, they could have removed it if they wanted to.

As for the 3000, Pandora doesn't work because Sony blocked the serial the battery uses and blocked the exploit it was using to boot in the CPU.

Sony also locked the Pre-IPL down and that's the main reason why the 3k hasn't been hacked. If\when the Pre-IPL is accessed, the 3k will fall.

Lastly, just because the Go doesn't have a removable battery, doesn't mean it can't be hacked.

I'm just throwing idea's out there onto WHY they may have removed it for the reason of privacy. It's obvious they DO NOT want to remove their backdoor.

the Pre-IPL has been locked since release of PSP-3k right? How long ago was that? (out of curiosity)

Never said it wasn't going to be hack, just pretty much giving reasoning to the response that he said.

whats the port on the bottom? btw, is it me or is their no usb port?

Not sure could be the charge port or memory stick M2 port? Not sure, I don't think anyone knows definitive what it is.

"I need someone to check out the PSP Go's screen, and see if it exhibits the same interlacing as the PSP-3000, where only half the new lines of a frame are drawn every 1/60th of a second.

Also please investigate the pixel structure of the PSP Go screen. If you can take a macro photograph or magnify the screen in some way, we could see it. The vertical subpixel order on the PSP-3000 screen is what caused the appearance of what looked like scanlines."

It's kinda late for that buddy.

no one (unless they work in the industry and are doing something for it) will be seeing the psp go until release.

The port is their multiple connection port. Basically it's what the old PSPs had in 4 different places plus more. (Serial port/video connection on bottom, USB on top, 2 power ports on top)

You plug a special USB cable into it. They no longer have the normal mini USB port.

Here's pics of the accessories. You can see the USB cable in the first pic, lower right corner.

Whoa I just noticed something. Look how long that USB cable is. I'm thinking they might have some PSP -> PS3 connectivity additions they will announce. They already have a few, but what if they add some nice fullscreen video output to it like the Homebrew plugin FuSu?

Yeah, probably the black Go and pouch for me, too.

The funny thing is that there are THREE types of pouches, low-end, mid-range, and high-end... whatever the hell those mean. I'll feel even worse for PSP Go buyers if Logitech doesn't make a case.

Also, it comes with that USB cable and an AC adapter, nothing else.

I saw on the psp go official page that are 3 classes of pouches (Low-end, Mid-range,High-end), i wonder how the other 2 will look like

Edit: beaten

yeah I figured that it would only come with those, the psp stop having those with the psp since the fatty.

So is the anolog nub better in this version of PSP? How about the D-pad for 2d fighters, I have a launch PSP -1000 and Darkstalker chronicles is nearly unplayable on the Dpad and the analoge nub is uncomfertable especially for games like Monster hunter and Phantasy Star Portable 3d games that require the anolog nub to move

The d-pad's undergone an improvement ever since the first iteration of the slim. Reports from people who had hands-on are that the d-pad's good on the PSP go as well.

it was improved in 2000/3000 and some hands on said it was better in Go!.. but of course, demo it before buying.

What gafs opinion on the PSP 3000? Its cheaper then the go with all improvement over the PSP 1000 model which I own. If the PSP Go and PSP 3000 were at the same price which would you get?

For $249.99 they should do a value pack just like the original PSP that comes with all the stuff in that picture. Hand-strap, pouch, cradle, USB cord, and charger at the minimum.

that would piss of retailers. They like selling accessories.

Aren't they pissed off enough? Everyone coming into the store buying a PSPgo day 1 is also not going to be buying games. Thats literally no profit for the retailer.

Yeah I guess your right.

Yeah I guess your right.

they are making profit on PSP.

Yeah I guess your right.

But, they're going to continue to sell games for the psp, they'll just be vouchers. It would only decimate their used game business.

IIRC, there will be some content in memory when shipped. Some minigames, demos, etc.

The reason this costs $250 is because they are giving retailers a margin, unlike with other HW. Obviously accessories will be at a margin as well.

Also, PSN cards supposedly have some margin (though I'd imagine small).

Blu_LED said:
From what I've heard most retailer don't make any money off hardware. I could be wrong.

Part of the reason why the system is $249.99 is that they are giving retailers a more traditional margin on the system, since they won't get anything from game sales.

I guess I'll also pick up a a pouch and component cables at launch. But dose the cradle serve anyother purpose other then to hold up the Go? And what dose Privacy film do, is it to hide the screen from others?

The privacy film is to obscure the screen when viewed from off-angle, say next to the person playing it methinks. I think the cradle can also double as a feeder for charger and video-out cables.

yeah, I figured as much, just curious to see it in action.

I hope it's like a privacy film and protection film. Also, the cradle I'm digging since it can just be my lil clock docking station when on standby lol. I don't have a clock in the living room :lol

Yeah I know. I just copy-pasted from my previous thread.

But if anyone has seen the PSP Go and knows about this issue with the PSP-3000 screen and checked for it on the PSP Go screen, I'd love to hear what you discovered.

This really needs the earphone-extension that let's you use it while it's closed/locked.
I've seen clips where a guy was flipping through songs with the unit closed.

However Sony really should step up their game with the music options on PSP. A proper shuffle mode would be nice, something that lets me shuffle all my songs instead of just the album. Being able to change the controls would also be nice because switching tracks with L&R dosen't work very well in the car (it currently slides around on my passenger seat and switches tracks).

10000x this. There's no reason why the PSP can't compete as a music player with every other player out there. Update the system to provide better music organization, shuffle, etc.

it seems they are... that mood thing is coming to PSP...

You're reading a lot into that :lol

A scenario I find more likely is that they're preempting the "this is too short and mah generic cables dun work no more!" kind of bitching.

So... in comparisson with the 3000; SAME battery life, SAME screen, No Umd. I guess this model is for those who where bitching about the umd only, but this model without the UMD the only improvement it got is portability, not bad but not great either

-Bluetooth
-Actually 'portable' now

I was contemplating trading in a DS I found and paying $100 for a brand new DSi but then I remembered this was coming out soon, I tossed that idea away. I don't mind paying more for this device after watching many videos and demonstrations of it and seeing how small its has gotten as compared to the 1000 model which I still have.

Is this system a fucking joke? Like an actual joke played on us by Sony?

I don't doubt it at this point.

Funny. I kind of agree with you.
At the end of the day, I don't have a problem with the price point. I'd be willing to pay a premium for a quality product.
But there is so much more they could have done with the unit at this price. They could have pushed the design more. OLED, touchscreen etc........ There just isn't anything appealing at this price.

Oh well.

We still have to remember this is the PSP1 though, just an updated version of it. When they actually do release the PSP2 they are going to want to show how much of a jump it is.Putting some of the selling features from it into a revised PSP1 would kinda dampen the impact.
