PSVR2 Review Units Sent Out, LOTS of Surprises coming before Launch

There's definitely a 'training' element to getting VR-legs. At first I was getting a bit light headed from Driveclub for sure, but spending more time with it it got better and I had more resilience to feeling sick in VR experiences.
Driveclub was not a great experience, though. Mostly due to the driving physics being nothing like real life. You somewhat 'strafed' through the corners sometimes and accelerated unnaturally out of them, which definitely causes your brain to go 'wat?'.

But I can definitely see people throw in the towel after a first bad experience. Motion sickness can last for almost a day as well, so that's not worth it.
Moss or Kayak VR (in "slow walking simulator" mode) are probably the best games to get used to VR gradually.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Half Life Alyx is coming to PS VR2. I can see Valve wanting to keep that game to push sells for their own VR headsets. They might even make a new headset to compete with the Quest and PS VR. Don't see why they would give that game up to Sony. It's not like valve is hurting for money and desperately needs the game to sell.

Seeing GT7 made me place another pre-order but the reviews this week will really make or break if I decide to keep this pre-order because the price does still have me on the fence.

Agree, It doesn't make sense to announce games far in advance. Who really cares about seeing a 1-2min trailer for a game you can't play for 6+ months. I never understood the begging for a "showcase" and all that stuff, but it could just be me getting old and caring less about "previews" for things way out.

Sony knows most of the people buying this day one will be the hardcore audience. The rest will not even think to buy this at that price until more games are out and a price cut happens.

Yeah, I might go all out on PSVR2 and a racing kit because of GT7, which I don't even own at the moment.

Half Life Alyx will almost certainly not come to PSVR2. Valve knows it's about to be in competition with Sony in the grand scheme. Maybe they want the revenue, but I don't know if it plays out like that.

The PS5 sells itself at this point. When the time is ready, Spider-Man will give it another massive boost of mindshare when it's the biggest game of the year. FF16 unless it bombs will be behind it at #2. Both games are PlayStation exclusives.

Am I saying 100% of people will have this reaction? Nope.
idk man, when you say
VR racing is just sickness inducing unless you have an actual rig that moves left and right.
it sounds like that's exactly what you're saying. Don't extrapolate your experience into universal generalisations. You could have just said "VR racing makes me sick."

Have you tried Half Life Alyx over wireless AirLink etc from a decent PC to the Quest 2? It's extraordinarily impressive.
It is indeed.
I'm all for AAA games, but VR isn't the platform for them.
Interesting take, given that Alyx was considered AAA by critics and Valve themselves. Maybe it's only AAA games on non-Quest VR platforms that you dislike.

First VR2 game I pre-ordered and likely the first I will boot up.

Oddly the only time Driveclub bothered me was when I was parked trying to look at a trackside object for a trophy that was a pain to get it to register while the driving was perfectly fine. The poor resolution and problems like that which it had likely caused more of the issues people had with it than the motion.

No I meant as a headset to play your PC games from. If you are comparing it with it's standalone capabilities and no PC or console to drive it, its hard to compare at all.
That makes more sense, but i guess most pc enthusiasts aren't going for the Quest 2.

On the contrary, it did make a huge impact on PCVR.

Look at steam hardware survey, it's by FAR the most dominant headset with 44.3% market share, followed by Valve index at 16.1% and oculus rift S at 13.1%. The headsets afterwards are sub 7%. « High end » Pimax is like <0.2%..

So peoples are connecting to PCVR with Quest 2.

Wow. I would definately buy a better VR if i had a gaming PC.

After experiencing Half Life Alyx wired and then wireless later…

Not sure I would have picked any other headset >2 years ago. If I was only playing in a sim rig, then yeah I guess there's better. I didn't want to setup a lighthouse or external tracking system either, I just find them extremely invasive for a room's look. And you're stuck to play in that room.

Upcoming PCVR headsets are in another league than Quest 2 of course, things are about to be interesting for choice.

For the price/performance and unique attributes quest provides, it was incredible at the time. Still not bad at all.

Because showcases are fun! We are here for the fun.

Kinda regret not preordering the Horizon bundle. Ordered the regular one, but I think I'd like to switch. For some reason, PS Direct isn't letting me preorder the bundle.

Might cancel the controller charger. Seen some cheaper third party designs online that also help stow the headset.

For people using psvr2 as their first time, that has to be sort of a different level of next gen jump, even from the 1990s huge leaps. Because with VR, no video can come close to the experience in the headset. Especially something as good as psvr2.
