Do you believe this woman is a real Psychic?

I used to think so, but I'm not so sure any more. She's been around for YEARS and has been doing shows on Montell Williams for like 10+ years. She's on Montell Williams about every Wednesday at 2:00pm. I've been following her appearances on the show very carefully for a while now and I've come to the conclusion that a lot of the stuff she predicted on previous shows has come true.

Her predictions for 2005 are:

- Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston won't last. (Just a week ago, it was on the news that two were splitting apart.)
- Demi Moore will have Aston Coocher's(spelling?) baby.
- Elizabeth Taylor will die sometime within the next year and a half.
- Michael Jackson will be indicted this time and put behind bars.
- There will be a scandal relating to president bush or someone in his family.
- A vaccine for cancer based on proteins will be found.

I remember on one of her previous shows last year, when Montell ask her if she saw any big disasters like 9/11 on the horizon. She said nothing really dealing with terrorists, but there will be a big disaster in India(the tsunami I presume) and she said she saw something that makes her concerned about a situation in Florida that deals with missiles. And finally, she said she couldn't see pass 100 years into the future. The reason she gave for it was that the world was going to come to an end and that we've abused the planet too much.

Pen and Teller usually talk about Psychics and I remember John Edward was on one of their shows and he clearly showed he was bullshit(which is maybe why he's no longer on the air?). Sylvia Browne has been around for years and was even on Larry King Live on CNN where she took questions for live callers. Yet no one has uncovered her fraud like they did to Miss Cleo.

I'm not saying she's psychic. I'm just saying I don't know what to believe any more. O_o

EDIT: Bah. I should clearify, her 2005 predictions were made during a show that took place IN 2004. =P

someone predicted a super star relationship wouldnt last

Yeah, but you have to admit it's kinda creepy. In December 2004, she said they would break up in 2005. We're not even out of Jan 2005 yet and they broke up. =P

its not at all freaky.

Aliens will begin to show themselves in the year 2010, they will not harm us, they simply want to see what we are doing to this planet. They will teach us how to use anti-gravity devices again, such as they did for the pyramids.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

I remember liking this woman like back in 1996 when she just started doing Montel shows and she seemed quite normal just helping people without an agenda. Then I went to her website and found predictions for alien invasion by 2010, the lost city of Atlantis being found and metal buildings that walk on stilts. Not too surprisingly after that she started to change, using reincarnation, past lives as reasons for viewers problems and fears. Then the books started about Mother God( I forget the name she use for her) and all new age mythical prose. Maybe like Hubbard she decided to make a religion? Who knows. Given that she is extremely spirtual I dont think you find too many here at GAF giving her benefit of the doubt :lol They more the likely would bring up that guy and his million dollar challenge that she never done yet.

there was an elderly nun that accurately predicted the super bowl winner for like 20 years in a row... she wasn't psychic.

Jon Edwards does not commune with the dead.

Cartman cannot blow up your skull with his psychic powers.

She used to have her prior predictions on her website. I guess too many never came about. And she has been on this cancer cure for well over 5 years now.

Two more predictions came true this week:

Demi Moore to have baby

Robert Blake gets off the hook...

Check out this blog I found. This person has entered all her 2005 predictions I left out.

She also predicted Micheal Jackson is supposed to be put behind bars this time. I don't see how that's possible though given the fact that the stories the accusers have been telling haven't matched up thus far. Even though, I think this is still pretty freaky...

What happened with Penn & Teller and John Edwards? I would have liked to see that.

Isn't John Edwards the cold reading guy who runs the show about finding dead relatives? I'm surprised he wasn't exposed much earlier

I used to like her, but one year (in like 1999-2000 or something) I wrote down every prediction she had and saved them until she popped up on the show again. There was like NOTHING that came true on that sheet. eg. Pope to die, this was like 5 YEARS ago.

please don't tell me you actually believe this shit.

But yeah, she is a real psychic, since they're all hustlers.

Do you think that CIA leak guy counts for this prediction?
Predicting a presidential scandal, especially in those vague terms, is equivalent to foretelling the rising of the sun tomorrow.

much like predicting two people having sex might decide to have a baby.

Somewhat. I used to think she was a fraud so I started following her shows more closely trying to find fault. Now I don't know what to believe as a lot of stuff she predicted came true. I've never even seen her featured on "Penn and Teller's Bullshit". She also appeared on Larry King Live on CNN where she did predictions for people who called up.

Though, she doesn't make world even predictions on every show. She only does them like the last week of the year before the New Year. She's written over 27 books(I haven't read any of them), so I'm guessing she wants you to buy them to see her world even predictions, but if you surf around the web, you'll find websites(most likely sites trying to discredit her) with them.

She also predicted aliens will land on Earth in 2010 and make first contact. :lol

Look, either she really can see the future or she can't. More than anything else it's people who count all the times she's been right and ignore all the times she's been wrong(eg. Michael Jackson). What she's really doing is making reasonable predictions and running with what ends up happening while the credulous sort eat it up.

BTW, Valerie Plame started a couple years ago. She's a little late to the party.

She predicted the Tsunami months before it happened. If she used some sort of science or logic to deduce that, I'm pretty sure scientists would have been able to warn people about it.

Before the train bombings in Madrid and London, when she was on TV a couple of months before that, she warned people to stay off of trains in 2005. Take it for whatever you want it to mean. =/

EDIT: I think I'm gonna do some more research on her and make an offical thread we can bump up to keep score of how many times she's right and how many times she's wrong.

- the US will leave Iraq by mid-year
WRONG
- N. Korea will be invaded and a war will start there by 2007/2008
Oh wow, a hot spot with strained relations may break out into a war. I never knew!
- No major terrorist attacks in the US this year
Yet to be known.
- but in June or July there will be truck/bus/train terrorist attacks
Wrong. Either she's talking about America in which case nothing has happened yet, or she's talking globally and any idiot could have made that prediction.
- The economy will drop in first half of the year, increase later in the year because of medical technology
She would have been better off not saying a specific reason. Ah well, remains to be seen.
- Elderly in the US will get a drug plan in 2008
They are already getting a drug plan. It's quality and effectiveness are certainly debatable though.
- Canadian drugs will be allowed into US (hello, that's already happening?)
Horribly vague. Allowed by who?
- Flu vaccine shortage will create a black market for the vaccine (ahem, again?)
WRONG. This year we had a surplus.
- an associate of Dubya or himself will have an alcohol problem revealed
Welcome to The Year 2000.
- Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn will split
- Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston will split
- Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones will split
Aw, celebs splitting up. This has never happened before.
- Demi Moore will be pregnant by Ashton Kutcher
Moore's a divorced mother on the rebound. Dating = Sex = Pregnancy. *gasp*
- They will figure out how to rejuvenate the myelin sheath in a few years
Remains to be seen. Research is underway in this field but whether or not this will help MS suffers also remains to be seen.
- Cancer vaccine will be created and will stop uterine, lung and colon cancer in a few years
Remains to be seen.
- Britney Spears will get pregnant and split from her husband
Married people have sex?
- Robert Blake will get off
He did.
- Michael Jackson will be indicted, tried, convicted and incarcerated ("They'll get him", she said)
WRONG
- Trump will marry Melanie in 2005 and divorce her in 2007
They did get married. I don't know when they got engaged though.
- Liz Taylor will die this year (how much would it suck to be her and hear that?)
Remains to be seen.
- Gay marriage will be okayed by some states
This is 2005, not 2004.
- Medical marijuana will be okayed by prescription
WRONG Ignoring the fact California already did this, that was just struck down.
- Divorce rate will decrease
I could have flipped that coin.
- Fining lawyers will stop frivolous lawsuits
Oh geez, she's republican?
- Texas, the Carolinas, Florida will get major storms, probably hurricanes, this year; Florida will get more than four major hurricanes this year
Hurricanes strike in hurricane season? *gasp* How incredibly dumb. Also, that Florida count likely won't happen.

Yeah, do some research and some critical reasoning. :P

Yeah if you look carefully all her predictions are either extremely likely to happen anyways or a complete 50/50 chance. Even when she gets 80% of it wrong, dumb people will always remember the 20% of "Well how did she know that married couple would have a baby?!?"
