Puck You, I'm Doing Me: An EASHL Saga: From Foes to Bros

Got my guy up to around 60 through drop in games. Scored my first goal as center as well, it was a solid slapshot. No bob to get credit through "deflection".

Bob is like Amare. I'll give him credit for him being where he needed to be, but he needs a Steve Nash to feed him!

Yeah we got better at the end. We almost won, and weren't getting blown out! As a winger I would appreciate though if the defensemen would do a couple things to help the team out:

1) Push the puck up to the LW/RW/C instead of taking it up yourself. You are not an offensive player. You can score but that position doesn't push the tempo. There were too many times I was sitting at the blue line and couldn't go forward because the defenseman was trying to push the puck up himself instead of passing it. Would be hit with an offsides. Also, pass it ASAP as I'm moving up. If I have to slow down to get the puck the other team can skate to me and I have no chance. If there is no clear opening to pass just dump the puck (RB Plus up on the right stick) and the offense will chase it.

2) In the offensive zone (when we are trying to score) the defensemen need to play back and in the corners by the blue line. This helps a couple things. One it will stop an offsides from happening as you can get the puck as it's being pushed around the boards. Secondly it helps space on offense so we can try to create openings for a shot. Defensemen can try to find an opening where us on the wing or the center can pass it for a quick slapshot. Then if it doesn't go in we can have a chance to get a rebound shot.

All in all though we are definitely improving! Even if we can't win a game!

This goes for everyone. If you cross the center line and see guys ahead of you but do not have a passing lane, dump the puck. It's better to dump and chase than it is to be whistled for offsides.

Also, let's bring back the trap!

Everybody is making good points; especially Eznark about dumping it. I would always take getting reset over a clusterfuck.

And to Bob's point about pushing it up, yes he is right, and here are two situations when a defenseman should take it up:
1)if you see the forwards are too crowded and you have a clear opening lane in (in this case, that forward will need to act as a temporary D to make up for this)
2) if you ever see its too crowded, dump it to the side that has the least people

and in general on offense, the wingers need to make a triangle. have one person behind the net or on the boards, one person on the wing, one by the net. this is so we can cycle around, move the defense, and get a clear shot. or if there's a loose puck our chances of getting it are increased because we spaced the ice and our team covers more ground. I think we often have too many people waiting for passes by the net so that leaves boards/other sides of the ice ope

Also Eznark what is a trap

We need to work on spacing too but that will probably get better with time. Everybody we've played has been on point with their passes, screening the goalie etc.

I've gotten a lot better at faceoffs and were winning the majority last night. What type of players do you guys have? I know I liked dishing to Mcnulty on the faceoffs since he's guy has a beast of a slapshot. It would help if people listed their play styles and we could probably work around that.

If the faceoff is on the right side pass it to me on the left for a slapshot, since we had a couple goals that way.

Hopefully the 4 goal game wasn't a fluke by the offense*.

*Even though two came off slapshots from the defense.

You can't complain when your ratings are already around 70.

that's only because i had to take advantage of special discounts EA was offering for being an elite member of season ticket

I'll probably be down to play after the Packers game. Can't wait to troll Bob.

could be good

he got trolled a good amount yesterday, by me at least! im surprised bob hasn't been championing he hat trick more...probably because they wouldn't of happened without those sweet passes from me. he doesn't want to share the glory

Btw did everyone redeem the amazon boost packs? Couple of them are pretty good, especially the +3 Deke, +3 wrist shot accuracy, and +3 agility.

yeah I'm gonna have to add more points into wrist shot power/accuracy. there were some shots I got off I wanted to...only they were so wide lol

also, everybody, make sure your endurance stat is at least an 80 if you aren't using a pack. that is kind of important

so if you have a boost pack you can't combine that with attribute points that you can add?

mcnulty what are the stats on your slap shot attributes

If you check the screen where you can edit attributes the boost packs will just be an extra +3 in one of the columns. Shouldn't effect adding points yourself or the cost of them.

I've never bought any sort of boost pack before, how expensive are they and is it worth it in any way?

i bought a boost pack for 192 points (season ticket discount!) and it took my Center froma 54 rating up to a 69. My goalie went from 55 to a 72.

If you check the screen where you can edit attributes the boost packs will just be an extra +3 in one of the columns.

The playmaker boost pack I got yesterday added alot more than +3 to the attributes.

Yeah, if you use a boost pack, all that +3 +5 stuff doesn't matter. You're locked into that boost pack...but that boost pack is probably as good as your guy gets till the superstar level, I think.

This thread is way better than the other one. Not as many annoying animated gifs.

Woo, got my second win playing as a LD. I'm still trying to discipline myself on positioning as defenseman to hang back on offense. One of the benefits is getting some nice rebound shots when your 3 offensive players are pushing to score.

Hung back and the puck came right to me for a an easy rebound goal!

yep

it was mentioned but yeah as a D-man dont be afraid to let it fly---just hang out by the blue line near the boards and you'll have plenty of good looks

yall are like the long range specialists

Rebounds are a really easy way to score in this game.......unless you're an NBPK player and the game doesn't allow you to pick up rebounds.

yeah I just about lost it when Smokey finally scored and it required for me to basically stand between the goalie and the net so the goalie couldn't get back to block it, lol

lets keep the cynical comments down, I spent too much of many games laughing my ass off to the point where my hands were too weak to hold the control

Lol and there was that penalty shot we got. I just think we don't know what to do when its just the goalie. We'll figure it out.

well on that play, the goalie just made a nice play, but I also think I may have shot it a little too late

I tried to deke him left and he did bite left, but he recovered to his strong side (glove side) faster than I could bring my stick around and shoot
