With GTA VI Trailer 2 taking the hype of the game to never before seen levels, how many copies do you think it's selling?

According to a research company, Grand Theft Auto VI could bring in more than $3 billion in total revenues during the first 12 months after launch. A report from Financial Times cites data from DFC Intelligence that says GTA 6 could bring in $3.2 billion in its first year and that the game is likely to surpass $1 billion in preorder revenue alone.

David Cole of DFC Intelligence told GameSpot that the long-term success of GTA 5 could help GTA 6 get off to a faster start. Cole noted that GTA 5 actually saw its overall revenues increase in its seventh, eighth, and ninth years on the market, with annual revenue reaching more than $1 billion in the eighth and ninth years on the market.

I think the number is too hard to guess in copies. Whatever $2 billion is divided by the amount the game price is on average including special editions and versions that include in game currency

wonder what it needs to sale to recoup budget all in? id guess whatever they sell day 1 covers that and some. so winner!

I think 20 million at this point. Price and cost of entry will still be a factor. Expensive consoles for new players and I'm sure an expensive game price tag will hold back some. Regardless, demand for this will be setting a new precedent.

I chose 25M.

Also...don't forget that by the time this game releases PS5 will be above PS3's lifetime sales...but the game won't be releasing on another platform that has sold similar numbers like GTAV which was on Xbox 360 as well. Sony has to do a lot of heavylifting because of Xbox flopping hardware (will it be at 40M by then? Who knows). That said, GTA is now a much bigger brand and i could see PS5 at 85/90M consoles sold and the game selling more than 25M in there alone...so who knows.

What the fuck is this shitty/facist "copies sold" metric. We only deal in the true measure of success and happy feelings these days - engagement.

Eyeballs on the product makes publishers happy, game journalists drool, developers proud, fanboys celebrate and for sure pays the bills, get with the program.

But yeah, I went for 25mil. It's going to be an insane release.

Even if it sold the same as GTAV, it would generate more revenue due to its obviously higher price.

I think they're appealing to both a male and female audience here. They already know the male audience is in for GTA, how to do you get female audience? Romance focus and an extremely hot dude as the MC, and if they're gay well Lucia is just as hot.

25 million day 1.

Around 15 million in the first 24 hours. Most estimates I see online put GTA V at between 11-13 million sold in the first 24 hours. Curious where you got the 16 million from for GTA V.

I think we will see a drop compared to GTA V. There were more PS3's and 360's in the wild when it launched, it was also cheaper.
