Quest 3S is currently the top selling device in Amazon's Video Games category.

My PC isn't great, I do own a PS5 Pro (soon). If I want to make art and experiment creatively with a headset, the Quest 3s for 300 bucks is probably the better choice, compared to the psvr2, right?

PSVR2 is a pure gaming VR headset with literally no non-gaming app (except for RAD), while Quest 3 is a general purposed VR headset with numerous non-gaming apps. So yes, for art and experiment the Quest 3 is the better suit

It keeps charting higher and higher lol. Usually hardware doesn't come in the top 5 because smaller items sell so fast but holy shit. Even the $500 version of Quest is topping all consoles.

Meta is cleaning up, damn.

On the other hand what’s weird is that Xbox is basically MIA. Did Microsoft not produce any hardware for the holidays? It’s pretty bizarre.

Was I right? Or was I right? ;)

You really shouldn't do that people don't seem to like it much 😂

Zucc really threw his weight around and spent a ton advertising and supporting VR. Gotta tip my hat to them, I thought getting bought by FB was the end of Oculus.

Quest attach rate on Amazon is quite high.

It'll get destroyed by every Console in the grand scheme of things.

Last year Quest 2 sold way more & Mat Pisca told everyone VR was Dead in water & didn't move much in the United States.

Nah. People keep saying this but it doesn't line up with reality at all. Sony is still putting R&D into PSVR2 and talking about it every show.

Of course there’s still a team of people working on software updates for the headset, as well as testing features that don’t cost much to implement.

What first party VR games are in development? Any major announcements of deals for video content?

I didn’t mention anything about 1st party games. We don’t know which ones are in development yet. Why do you say things like VR frame gen and hand tracking functionality don’t cost much? Why does that still constitute “giving up on it”? And how has Sony given up on VR2 yet still they make significant strides to attract 3rd party support even showing plenty of large VR projects on a regular basis?

And hopefully he keeps blowing his money on it. As much as PCVR fans keep shitting on the Quest and Meta, far as I care it's the only thing keeping VR alive. And the nice thing about technology is that eventually standalone VR will catch up to current tethered VR in terms of graphics. Maybe by Quest 6? Hopefully, Zucc is willing to keep burning money for VR.

There's no evidence to support any of that.

Why are some people so desperate to see VR fail? Cant do it because it makes you nauseous, so it has to fail? Cant afford the headset?

It’s not for everyone, but to continue to claim its failing based on these kinds of sales is idiotic.

Circana is pretty much evidence.

But people saying things based on supposed sources isn't reliable. And vr being dead has been said for 8 years now. Meanwhile quest 4 is already in development. It's a joke. It's never leaving.

Another step in VRs journey to mainstream

Because console players are annoyed by the imaginary thought that it will replace console gaming.

That and also Playstation VR2 has died and they want to drag Meta Quest down along with it

Their losses to their VR department were around $12.5 billion the first 3 quarters of 2024.

It's a crazy investment for Meta who are burning literally 10's of billions of dollars w/ the expectation that VR / AR use becomes as common as someone using a cell phone.

I don't wish anything to fail but Meta is trying to force something, they aren't even close to financially successful.

PSVR2 is outselling Xbox on Amazon... what does that mean for Xbox?

Alot of that is r&d for future tech. They spend crazy money on wild tech like those silly AR glasses that will likely never see production. Those silly projects get lumped into VR losses.

There's no real data on whats being spent on quest vs all those other projects, so it's unfair to say VR isn't profitable or couldn't be.

If they wanted to just focus on VR and VR games, it would be a different conversation.

Either way, its not going away. While we look at the numbers as being insane, they're not for Meta. Those numbers have been common knowledge for awhile and it's not even remotely slowing them down.

Played RE8 on PSVR2 this weekend. Great game but I got nauseous AF right when I made it to the first enemy. Took me 1.5 hours to fully recover.

Is this a thing? I had an Oculus and this only ever happened on the roller coaster game, so I'm not sure why...

VR motion sickness affect people differently. The most important thing is to stop as soon as you feel off, even if you only play 5 minutes a day. Over the days you will start noticing your sessions go for longer without feeling discomfort.

Tips: Avoid strafing, use snap turn at the beginning, use a fan blowing in your direction.
