With the Quest 3s launching at $299.99 USD, who here is getting one? Are you investing into VR for the first time, buying a spare headset, or upgrading from an older HMD? I have the OG Q3 512gb, but thinking of upgrading my daughters Q2, the fact that they are throwing in Batman sure sweetens the pot.

We had a few threads including Quest referrals around the holidays last year, no one called foul. I see your point about optics though, so I'll move my link to a post down here.

*Words of advice, if you are one of the people getting one, make sure to get a "referral link" from a friend (or use mine below) for $30 of store credit, to start your collection. Donor before setting up. If you already set up headset, just remove device from account, click link, and set up the device again.

I've been thinking of upgrading from my Quest 2. The 3S seems to be a reasonable step up for the amount that I use it.

I am maybe getting one, if the Batman game is any good.
I'm hopeful, but skeptical. I've had many really great experiences in VR, but they came from mechanics that really took advantage of the medium. I hope they don't play it too safe due to the IP.

I sadly can't stand VR, played REVII on PS4 and all the characters looked like a puppet and I thought I used a bad setting but people who I know and played it say it is normal. :(
Also it makes me feel "hot" very fast, not want to vomit or dizzy... Just if I put a VR headset I feel like I'm having fever after 2 to 3 minutes.

I have a Quest 2 and will upgrade eventually but it will be to something with pancake lenses.

I wouldn't upgrade from Quest 2 to Quest 3s and be stuck again with fresnel lenses, no way.

128 GB Quest 3s @ $299
256 GB Quest 3s @ $399

...

512 GB Quest 3 @ $499

I don't see a reason for Quest3s unless that's really all you can dish out money wise. $200 alone for 4x storage of Quest3s base model + pancake lenses seems like a bargain.

Quest 3 also has higher PPD display, better FOV.

I don't know what this is compared to the 3. Last time I tried VR I was fighting with steam vr trying to use the psvr2. I really don't get what needs to launch. Steam vr and psvr2 app and then the game?

How exactly is that 'hassle free' compared to the Quest thats standalone and has fewer hassles getting started with PCVR?

Unless of course you're only on PS5
good question.
you have pc power VR
and no tweaking.

Great power, but missing out on so much of what makes VR special. Non existent media features, no social experiences, no WebXR support. PSVR2 does have a few bangers though.
and that's why the quest 3 is perfect for all the side stuff.
i play nes games in AR and it patches the background layer to see through. best shit ever also quake 1 2 3 doom 1 2 return to castle wolfenstein halflife 1 etc etc .. all so cool to play on quest,, but it takes way too much tinkering.. heck i played diablo 2 on the quest 3 with AR it's fun

Or you could just put the headset on and play the 1,000 titles, hassle free.

Since Meta released the HDMI link thing, my Quest 3 has been nothing but a device for making a large simulated screen so that I can play my Switch or Steam Deck in the car

I have my Quest on, sitting in front of my Xbox like a dork while my toddler watches Sesame Street on the tv. The HDMI link has been pretty awesome.

It's nice if more can afford VR.
I hope the Batman game is going to be decent.
I am curious how much of a downgrade it will be from a pancake Quest 3. I think it would be best to get the full Q3 with pancake lenses.

Make sure you get Beat Saber.
The first Floor Plan remastered for a quick bit of cheap quick fun.

Walkabout Minigolf is also highly recommended.

I personally love The 7th guest, The Room VR for Puzzle games.

Arizona Sunshine has some great gun shooting.

People who I follow, and have played it, said that after a few minutes, they forgot they were wearing a Quest 3s. It apparently isn't as impactful in MR as well. In saying that, multi window experiences, and text heavy experiences really benefit from the added clarity of pancake.

Does the library still suck? I use my quest 2 mainly for exercise.

The specs really don't make the 3s compelling. Reduced resolution, optics, vertical and horizontal FOV.

Everything that is needed for a great VR experience is gimped.

I understand the need to have a product for the masses but this is not it

was interested initially but the specs aren't worth it. they should have found a way to lower the q3 mrsp a bit i stead

i mainly use my quest 2 mainly as a goon cave and the 3s just isn't a compelling upgrade for that usage case

It thrives in social experiences like Dungeons of Eternity. Triangle strategy is releases at the end of the month, check out the trailer, it looks awesome.
