Rainbow Six: Siege |OT| Idris Elba sold separately

Sad to admit, but I am liking this game so much that I am seriously considering purchasing the season pass to get the XP boost, but only if they fix the ongoing and frustrating networking issues.

Mark of a good, or at least addictive game, that repeated networking issues hasnt really stopped my enjoyment of the game.

Didn't enjoy it as much this morning. I'm more of a fan of the single player stuff and terrorist hunts than the MP, I guess.

Some questions:

1) What different gameplay modes are there in multiplayer? Save/defend the hostage, disarm/protect the bomb, and get to the hazardous waste?

2) Also is there a list of maps anywhere, with images?

The Beastcast impressions just seemed way off. I know it's their opinion but some of what they were saying didn't feel at all like what I was playing in terms of movement of character and gunplay.

I do agree about the microtransactions though but since I have no intention of buying them I don't let them bother me.

Try and find a team on competitive who communicate well. Find that, and it's one of the best experiences around. I'm more of a T-Hunt/Situations guy myself, too, but there's something sublime about the PVP experience when it goes well.

1. I think you listed them. There are rumours of more modes (eg Team Deathmatch) being added down the line.

2. Maybe check the website for full map list. I think you can match make specifically for different maps in PVP?

Game always felt off. Even in normal MP with 60fps the gun play feels sluggish. Same for the movement.

Same here. But T-hunt is amazing

My problem is that I don't talk, so I'm not helpful. I try to be a good teammate, but I'm quiet and introverted.

I'm more of a solo gamer, but do enjoy this for the most part.

Hey, just as an experiment, try ranging out of your comfort zone, just to try it.

Plug in a microphone and comment on things you see while playing - eg where enemies are, cameras you spot, defences you spot. (Mic is totally plug n play in R6S).

There's nothing to lose.

If you're on PC we can team up for a session if you like. I won't be free until Sunday night/next week now.

Edit: also you can communicate fine with text if you see something urgent. Eg I picked up a bomber right inside a room a teammate was about to leap into in Terrorist Hunt, so I quickly hit 'T' and scrawled 'bomber inside that room' and our guy backed down.

Movement feels sluggish because it's slightly more on the simulation side of the spectrum than arcade - if you're carrying all this gear you really would feel heavy. It fits the pace of the game perfectly.

But the gunplay? It's fast as shit and incredibly satisfying. Almost F.E.A.R. quality. No idea what you're talking about.

It's totally intended though, of course it's not going to be as responsive as Counter Strike or Call of Duty. The emphasis is put on positioning rather than twitch aiming.

Yep, sure did! I *think* it was JonnyRagee

I can confirm next time we're on.

Fun games we had together! That was a great team. Shame we kept running into some really good teams, too - but that's how you get better. One of these days I won't need to be carried so much!

Oh good. Felt bad I didn't add him when we left. Come on Uplay, where is the recent players list, or let me add friends in-game.

Can't remember the map name, but the snowy/alpine house map is giving me serious Rogue Spear vibes.

And man, they REALLY need to reduce the armor on the suicide bombers. They should not be able to take four shotgun blasts to the body :-|

Two shots to head generally take them down for me

This game is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys tactical shooters.

That being said I need more people to play with on PSN. Send me an invite if interested stating you're from GAF. PSN ID is Dubzinator.

If you know what you're doing then it's not much of a problem imo.
Just a couple of warnings here and there is fine. You don't have to be in communucitaion the whole time..

Q: When playing a custom pvp match, can both teams hear each other in the main lobby?
I have yet to try it out, but am curious. It'd be nice so both teams can talk about the matches and BS in between sets and such.
Afaik, PS party chat is limited to 8 players, so using that would leave out 2 players (5v5).

Finally made it to level 20 so I can finally try ranked later tonight. I find when I play offensively on defense I almost always get the jump on 1-2 people, especially if I know the map and the common entry points.

People saying the gunplay is bad, it's honestly some of the most satisfying and challenging aiming in any FPS.

Yeah, I'm willing to. I just don't know if I have a mic, unless one came with the system.

On console going from Multiplayer at 60 fps to T- Hunt at 30 fps is so jarring. Sometimes if I get disconnected from my friends mid-game In a multiplayer match I will go into a T-Hunt game by myself for a bit. It's really hard to switch that quickly.

Game is fantastic though. Even more fun with a party of friends.

It feels MUCH closer to old rainbow 6 now compared to the Vegas games.

Rainbow Six: Vegas was phenomenal. I prefer that over this, but this is good too.

I remember a store started selling RSV2 early, so I rushed out the door and drove 30 minutes to get it. Then the multiplayer ended up not having respawns and I hardly played it.

Vegas 1 and 2 were brilliant, but they were pretty idiosyncratic as Rainbow Six games. Siege is far closer to the older ones, Rogue Spear and RSix 3, which is what the poster was saying.

Yeah, that's true. I did play the original, and watched a bit of a GameCube one.

I may be in the minority for preferring Vegas over traditional Rainbow Six.

Yeah, I don't mean to imply that Vegas 1 and 2 were bad games. I had fun with them myself. They just weren't really Rainbow 6 games to me.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?

Yup, on PC, the mouse control tracks so, so well. The gunplay has a nice heft to it. Love the feel - the movement - everything. One shot headshots are a bit frustrating with SMG spray, and the high tickrate has been a bit irritating at times. But the actual player agency is fantastic. Animations are top notch, too.

and it's awesome on console with no auto aim (auto aim is only enabled for T Hunt and Situations)

Anyone have a favorite Operator yet? I keep moving between Ash (love the breaching charge and carbine) and Fuze (just love the Cluster Charge's utility, as well as the shield) while attacking, and Sledge (because hammer), Rook (body armor is CRUCIAL--getting teammates to pick it up is another matter), or Tachanka (find a fortified corner to post up in and take objective duty).

Taking a trip this weekend, so binged on Siege last night--getting closer to level 20!

Found a great group of guys playing in public--communicated a lot, had a few Flawless matches with them.

Same here. That was the first thing I thought when I loaded that map for the first time. I think it was called Chalet.

My man.

People saying the gunplay is bad, it's honestly some of the most satisfying and challenging aiming in any FPS.

I think it may just be related to the netcode or early lag, but I feel sometimes a disconnect between the firing of the gun (which looks and sounds fantastic) and the impact on an enemy's body.

I also think a part of it is the recoil, which is actually pretty severe compared to other shooters, as well as the size of the gun. Because the gun is so large + the recoil pushes you off target more than most games = hard to always tell where your shots are going and what they're hitting.

It's not a huge deal. I certainly wouldn't say the gunplay is *bad*.

Can't believe I haven't bought it yet. I were huge on Rainbow Six 3 back in the days.

This. Feels the closest to a R6 game we've gotten since Raven Shield.

They did an amazing-amazing job making all of the operators and their abilities cool and identifiable without wading into the bro territory of gun-violence porn. Really a fantastic nod to the root of the RS series.

Also, this game, overall, isn't that pretty...but some of the effects work is outstanding. Game is at its most "beautiful" when the assault begins and shit hits the fan, IMO.

I'm thinking of getting this next week during the Best Buy B2G1 free sale. It sounded pretty bad after the beta, but the talk in this thread is turning me around. What is the MP community like on PS4? Do people play for fun, or is it Serious Business? Can you not really play with other people if you're reluctant to use a mic?

I simply can't play it. It's horrible. I'm LOVING the multiplayer, have reached rank 23 and have all but 3 operators unlocked... i just cannot go back to the 30fps in terro hunt... it's that bad... makes me nauseous as hell. Really a fucking shame they cant bring that up to 60 as well.

It's really strange. I haven't noticed any difference in performance between the 2 modes on pc.
Did they say why it's 30 on consoles?

When I play with my group now we don't actually spot, we just communicate the location of the enemy so we can keep the cameras active.

Some people who are switched on still take them out anyway but it's amazing how many people overlook them unless they're spotted.

Same here. You're much better off if you communicate with your team on the location, else they just shoot them out.

Sometimes I just spot them anyway though. If I think it would be difficult to communicate and / or they are unlikely to find the camera anyway.

I don't think the problem is entirely the framerate be fair, I mean, it is an issue in itself, but there are plenty games that have 30 FPS campaigns but 60 FPS multiplayer (Killzone, Unchrted 4, Gears of War) but the transition doesn't feel that jarring because the game retains a similar level of responsiveness. Maybe the lack of responsiveness in TH is something Ubisoft can fix without having to up the framerate to 60.

They need to do something about katchaka(sp) traps, no one with half a brain is going to fall for them when they are so obvious.

This game..

Hopefully more people play this game, I checked and around 9000 people were playing on PC last night.

Steam numbers are not indicative of how many people are playing this game. Out of the 15 people I know who play regularly every night, none of us bought on steam.
