MHS3 will probably be good and Switch is a natural fit for PVZ but that's about it for me.

This was a good time to announce release date for Elden Ring and another big third party game but no.

This is the most a presentation had ever felt contractually obligated to exist.

I'm glad GigaBowser wasn't alive to see it. God is merciful after all.

Don't no what people where expecting, people get to carried away thinking the switch 2 is like a portable ps5, its more like a switch pro ,Sony and Microsoft weren't gonna flood the switch with there top tier games, for me Nintendo always been about first party and will continue to be

Pretty bad. Also some weird presentation decision making imo. I'd sooner give a short slot to Borderlands 4 over a tech-demo campfire game that costs $15. And I'm not even much into Borderlands

Won't rate it because I didn't saw, but I had a feeling it wouldn't be good because of the partnership tag on it. Good thing that I didn't waste my time then.

I used the old school scale and gave it a C for average. It's exactly what was expected if anyone saw past 3rd party directs.

If I used new school grading methods it would get an A ie grade inflation.

Cronos the New Dawn was the highlight for me. But Square Enix new action-rpg looked really good too as well as Monster Hunter Stories 3. P3 Reload and Outlaws is nice to have too on a rainy day.

Unfortunately the Direct was filled with lots of filler trash that nobody gives a fuck about. FF7 Remake and Elden Ring still missing in action but I suspect Nintendo wants to give those games the spotlight in a proper Direct.
None of these games are NEW except monster hunter ...

It was exactly what I expected from a partner-focused Direct. Some late ports + multiplatform games coming to Switch/Switch 2, along with a couple mid-tier 3rd party game reveals.

I was thoroughly uninterested until P3 which got it a D, then Square's last two reveals bumped it up to an okay C. Octopath is wonderful and saved the show.

Still waiting on Resident Evil though...

C -

3 new reveals. None of them really set the house on fire. MHS3, OT Zero, and Adventures of Elliot. Persona is a good add for people actually wanting 3rd party stuff on Switch, which is the point of this direct.

That camping game alone dropped it from a C to a C - . I can't go into D territory with 3 decent new reveals. It was ... fine for a small partner showcase. The highlight was Octopath. It didn't have sky high expectations and was appropriate for the most part.

My thoughts exactly here, the HD-2D games at the end salvaged a little bit of good will but it was otherwise pretty drab. You know when the third game or whatever is a dedicated Just Dance trailer (not just a quick slip in a sizzle reel) that it's gonna be a bit of a tough one. Seemed like lots more they could've talked about, including third party games announced in the last direct that are still MIA. No release date for Hyrule Warriors. Very meh. Will check out that Elliot game demo tonight though, and Ninja Gaiden is out today too so it's a good day by default.

Before the nintendo direct: « eh probably lots of ports, I want new games »
After the nintendo direct: « eh, I wanted ports, not new games »

What a god damn failure. Seriously.

Think of this way. TODAY WAS NINTENDO's First Direct w/3rd parties since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Did Nintendo inspire confidence in their product today?

Did Nintendo make anyone want to run out and buy a NS2 today?

Did Nintendo excite the fan base today?

Did Nintendo make current owners of NS2 more excited about the future today?

WHAT an EPIC FAIL today is. Nintendo should be ashamed of themselves for this.

My question after this event is "Has Nintendo lost the ability to put on a good Nintendo Direct?" How long has it been since a great one? 2020? Maybe Nintendo no longer has the ability to do this?

Katamari is a new game in a series I've been enjoying (thanks to Reroll 1 and 2) so that was the pick of the show. Most everything else I didn't care. Just like with Switch 1, there are a million RPGs to play and I'll never catch up so new ones are just "oh neat" instead of "I'm excited for this." In fact, I wish Square would put out fewer games, because they're diluting their brand and making HD-2D seem less special. AAA ports aren't interesting as I'd likely play those on PC. Overall, this Direct offered little to keep me hyped up for the future of Switch 2. I'm just going to continue playing Bananza and chipping away at the Switch 1 backlog until Metroid shows up.
