So many game keycards. The switch 2 doesn't have enough storage space for this crap, and sd express cards are stupid expensive.

Who thought closing this off with not just one but TWO 2d-hd rpgs from the same publisher that are visually hard to distinguish from one another for normal people was a good idea. The show was so bad they'd better not aired it at all.

Eh I played it yesterday on PS5 on performance mode, looks like shit too
Can't understand this?
I play it on PS5 Pro and it looks and plays great.
Also, the Switch footage we've been seeing so far looks fine (obvs will have to wait until actually out before we can definitively say) imo.
Can't see what is wrong with the game on either format - think it's just because it's Ubisoft and the game had a rough start people just are on a downer with it.

Edit: Overall though, thought the Direct was crap

Only the last 2 games interest me and I don't understand why they don't do a Chrono Trigger remake or sequel in that same artstyle.....they are literally sitting on money and don't capitalize on it.

For me this felt like a mid-cycle partner direct when the system has already been out a few years and established itself. As a hype vehicle to capitalize on the Switch 2 window, for me this was lacking with no real wow moments. Typically they'd at least end the direct with something for you to chew on. As much as I like HD2D games, I don't think you end your presentation with that, unless it was something crazy like Chrono Trigger HD2D ( which is like the one no-brainer everyone seems to be asking for, and we're getting everything but...).

I've also played it on PC if that makes you any happier 🤷‍♂️
Well you also have your answer there I guess

EDIT: if it's not clear enough, on base PS5 it runs at 720p with heavy use of FSR, so it doesn't look great (performance mode)

Rating: C

Games of note:

  • Monster Hunter Stories 3
  • Once Upon a Katamari
  • Pac-Man World 2: Re-PAC
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment gameplay
  • Hela gameplay
  • Cronos gameplay explanation
  • Goodnight Universe
  • NBA Bounce
  • The Adventures of Elliot: TMT (my personal game of show)
  • Octopath Traveler 0
My rating isn't about what I've listed, but rather all of the stuff I didn't. Half of the showcase was modern-ish ports finally pouring onto a Nintendo console. This is where "Nintendo lives in their own world" can sometimes come across as a negative. I didn't really need narrator explanations for games that have already been out for more than a year.

Otherwise, what was shown that was new or upcoming looked fun.

Also on a side note, sadly, I knew that there would be no new Capcom Collection once a new MH Stories was the introductory game.

Lots of great games, especially NEW titles. For a partner direct especially, it's a solid B for me, insane that people are rating it so low.

Once Upon A Katamari
Octopath Traveler 0
Adventures of Elliot
Final Fantasy Tactics remake
Persona 3 Reload
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
Cronos

Who is the monkey that voted A for this ? Needs a perma ban

It was me.

I actually voted A by accident and couldn't be arsed to change it. I then made up a reason why I voted A, which actually took more effort than changing my vote.

To be honest, I haven't even watched the direct yet. I just had FOMO and wanted to get involved.

Sorry.

Since it was already announced long before the direct.
Ah newly announced gotcha.

Still a brand new 3rd party game though, exactly what most people where after. Didn't everyone seem to like the look of this one when it got announced earlier in the year?

I really want to sell this shitty machine now
No joke, if the thing didn't run Switch 1 games better, I would also want to just get rid of it. These game key cards are really pissing me off, and I'm realizing the day when I stop buying new games is coming sooner than I expected. I'm not gonna back down on what I've been saying, as soon as physical is not an option, is when I stop buying new games and work on retro and the backlog.

Without knowing when the next time is they will drop news, it felt bad because we want to know more about Nintendo games lol.

But I thought the Elliot action RPG by Square in the HD 2D style looked pretty cool, and it was a pleasant surprise for the demo to drop today.
