Rayman Legends |OT| "It's a bit like a porno" (Michel Ancel) WiiU/360/PS3/Vita/PC

Added a point to confirm missing "invaded levels" from Vita version... And confirmation that they should be added in for free later via patch.

Regarding the Murfy sections, I'd say:
Wii U co-op > PS360 (solo or co-op) > Wii U solo

Haven't played it on Vita; it's probably the same as on Wii U except co-op will be harder to organize.

I will say these sections are never terrible imo; dealing with the AI player in the Wii U solo version can actually add an interesting element of challenge (as the daily challenges prove). The main reason it gets annoying is probably because there are just too many Murfy sections (this is true for all versions). I'd have liked them much better if they'd been used sparingly.

Five player co-op on Wii U is fantastic, btw. Best reason to get that version (if you have four gaming friends).

Does anyone have problems with the PC version? Radeon 6950 and an i5 processor playing via a Benq W1070 projector. Playing in 1080p fullscreen gives me a 24hz mode. Playing windowed 60 hz. The sound does also seem to be somehow broken. The music is not loud enough, regardless of turning the volume of it up to 11.

You can't because you couldn't play the Murfy levels. Ironically, the PS360-version of Murfy's levels was coded already for Wii U, including a selection screen where you could choose either play style. However, Ubisoft has deleted that option from the final game. I guess in order to force Rayman fans to buy three versions (Wii U, one of PS360 and PSV).

You have no idea how much this pains me to know.

The fact that they force the Murfy stuff on Wii U owners in single player when they could have implemented the very simple option to choose your play style and made it the definitive version is irritating, especially after delaying release of the finished product for so long. I can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't just let solo players toggle freely between touch screen and traditional controls on the fly. It's not like fans didn't telegraph their reservations about the overabundance of Murphy levels ages ago either.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but can you use the pro controller to play this on Wii U like you'd play it on ps3/360?

Thinking about picking this and origins up, they both look fantastic

I did earlier, and unfortunately you can't use the Pro controller in single player mode. I really dislike the Murfy levels, I'd much rather be using the Pro controller and looking at the gorgeous graphics on my TV than the Gamepad's SD screen. It pains me to say this, but I wish I had gotten the PS3 version instead. I'm sure the Murfy stuff is a lot of fun if you have people to play local co-op with, but I don't and these levels are more annoying than fun for me.

Not as good as I expected (I expected better than Origins), but still a really good platformer.

The musical levels are by far the best.

Damn, I might have to pick up the ps3 version then. Thanks for the response!

Game is beautiful. Vastly prefer this aesthetic to Origins style.

Oh, and it's not too shabby in the gameplay department either.

The Vita version will get the invasion levels! This is from the other thread -

Ubisoft Official Statement:

Thanks so much for you passion about this game. I'm currently playing the Vita version and loving it. That said, I know some of you have questions about the Vita version, so here's what's going on: Due to a longer development time than expected, we couldn’t initially include the Invasion Mode – essentially, a second take on existing Rayman Legends maps -- in the Vita version of the game. However, we can confirm that the Invasion Mode will be added via a free patch, at a later date. With more than 100 levels, online Coop and challenges, Kung-Foot mini-game, 5 exclusive touch challenges developed specifically for the VITA and 2 exclusive costumes, Rayman Legends already includes a lot for customers to love, and features the same outstanding graphics and gameplay design as the home console versions.

Well aside from, you know, not being able to play such a gorgeous game on my 55" HDTV. Not quite definitive. Especially because I can ALSO play the Wii U version in bed or on the toilet. ;)

But second most definitive isn't too bad! :D

Edit - on a more serious note... Man the Wii U software drought broke like a dam. Pikmin, Disney Infinity, Rayman, Wonderful 101, Zelda WW HD, Ducktales, and Capcom D&D (maybe more I'm missing) all within like 6 weeks. Oh yeah I forgot Splinter Cell.

But I digress. This game is amazing. Just grabbed 72/72 in Teensiest in Trouble and sitting at Silver on today's challenge. :)

Eh......I'd rather take it on the smaller screen due to the OLED. It makes things look so much more crisper and the colours just pop. It looks stunning on the Vita! It's quite crazy just how pretty it is.

So, I read a little ways back and didn't see this answered, but are the challenge times scaled throughout the day/week? Are the trophy times set buy the fastest person or top 1000 times or a percentage of times or something?

Completed the Legends content with the exception of four random teensies hidden in various levels. Random thoughts

Mariachi Madness was probably the toughest 8-bit music level for me. The part at the end where you have to keep attacking while on the rope fucked me up since I would start mashing too early and get killed before grabbing the rope.

Grannies World Tour 8-bit wasn't as bad as I've heard. Thought I'd basically be blinded the whole time lol. Beat it 3rd try...

...Infiltration Station Invaded on the other hand...probably the toughest level in the game. Room 3 was my biggest problem. Had probably .2 seconds left. Really happy to have it under my belt.

Hell Opens Up (the last Murfy stage? I think that's the name) was my favorite Murfy stage by far. Fast paced and almost 100% reflex dependant with virtually no A.I. quirks to get around. Really fun and I wish the rest followed suit.

The music in 20,000 Lums was AMAZING. Dat James Bond-style sneaking theme.

Definitely in my top 5 for the year for both soundtrack and overall game. GOAT-contender aesthetics (graphics/sound) and the mechanics (with the exception of solo Murfy) are basically perfect.

Your move, Tropical Freeze. I'm rooting for you but you'll have to work for it.

Been playing this with the GF every evening since I got it. She's hooked. Me, not so much since I'm playing with the GamePad. The Murphy levels really do hurt the overall pacing. I understand using its features is important but I don't like that it's either touchscreen-focused gameplay OR platforming.
Why can't I use the touchscreen all the time even while playing as Rayman? An optional right stick control scheme to move Murphy (like in TW101) would have also been appreciated.

You have no idea how much this pains me to know.

I really think it was a scammy move to force Rayman-fans into buying three versions, Ubisoft didn't react to my question regarding that on facebook and also when my publication asked the PR guys about it, they didn't answer either. Now I've written an articel about it, but since noone seems to be aware of this, it's unlikely they will patch this option back in (altough this shouldn't be a problem for them anyway). It's not really "my problem", because I've received Wii U and 360-versions as review copies, but I think it's unfair.
Exactly what is holding me from playing this. I can't decide which version I want to get. Unintended confusion on their part

Yeah, it makes the decision harder, definitely.

As I said, the really bad thing is: they did, only to lock that option in the final product.

Opinions vary wildly on that matter though. I prefer the touch option if I could only play it one way and (Wii U-) coop is definitely the best way to play these levels. On another forum I visit, most people complain about the PS360 solution, so it's really a matter of taste. I'd recommend trying it out before buying. Or wait and complain at Ubisoft, because if enough people complain, it would be no work at all for them to give the choice in the Wii U-version.

wait I can't use my Pro controller to play RL solo?

Well that sucks. But at least my little bro can use it when we do co-op.

Game looks like it is bombing on PC. Not in the top 10 of most of the main steam-like sites and only #19 on steam. Was hoping it would do better :(

Even a lot of PC-centric players are probably opting to get the game on consoles. Much more convenient multiplayer + it's a very "couch" game. So I wouldn't be shocked if that's why it's low on steam.

Dunno about that. Been playing this exclusively on the Gamepad for awhile and I'm just amazed how fluid and crisp it is.It Helps that the thumbsticks feel good too and the audio quality happens to be good enough that I didn't need headphones.

Not that any of that matters when you get absorbed just repeating a segment just to get Gold cup and all Teensies in one level.

And unlike some people I have no problem with the Murphy levels, as they actually make you think around whatever gimmick one may seem to see this as most of the time.

Oh yeah, I like how there is an option to Miiverse post at a push of a button.

Been playing the Wii U version, and I gotta admit I'm getting bummed out with Murfy levels being so frequent :( I would enjoy this game so much more if there wasn't so many Murfy levels. I just hate having control of the platforming taken away from me like this.

Definitely considering getting this on PS3. It looks absolutely beautiful and it's been a while since I've played a good platformer that wasn't Mario. Is it better on Wii U? Will I be missing out on anything?

I don't hate [the Murfy sections] but I think they make up way, way too much of the game.

I agree but I'm warming up to them. One problem is that sometimes the Murfy levels seem to follow each other too closely if you stick to the regular level order. Popping out to do an Origins level after a particularly long Murfy stage helps! The pacing feels much better this way.

I also recommend trying to get at least a silver on the current weekly extreme challenge (Wii U) to see how much fun even solo touch-based Murfy levels can be.

You will miss out on the fantastic coop and you cannot play Murfy in the Murfy-stages, but other than that the PS3-version is content-complete.

The Murfy Levels are excellent. I love them.

5 Player Co-Op is also really fun even when half of the ppl don't know what they are doing :)

I didn't know you could play the Vita version on a 55" TV with 5.1 surround...

Sorry, but OLED + headphones >>> 55inc TV + 5.1 surround. Do yourself a favour and actually look at the game running on a Vita.

I don't want to sound like an ass, but you'd probably change your tune like many others here if you actually saw it running on a Vita.

Now that the invasion levels are getting patched in I ma back on board the vita version. My only peeve with that is auto platforming in murphy levels. How many murphy levels are there?

lets hope ubisoft comes to their senses and makes another patch for murphy levels for both the options. Touch with auto platforming & Like on PS3 (Murphy on a button)

I have actually played it at Gamescom and still prefer the console version for multiplayer and better controls.
