Razer Wolverine V3 Pro 8k PC

That looks great. Thanks for pointing in the good direction. This looks even better:

Much higher polling rate, response, 6 vibration motors, etc.

Edit: Argh... back buttons instead of paddles. 🤦🏻
Yeah, that's 3rd party controllers for ya, when you think the controller has everything you need, there are some compromises here and there.

And not everyone has the same perferences plus size of the hands, so the controller I like, might be just okayish for you.

We're doing controllers OT with Astray Astray and BennyBlanco BennyBlanco so there wil be place to discuss them throughly.

Maybe others have more recommendations. Feel free to pitch in my dudes. Calling in my cavalry, lmao.

analog_future analog_future are you interested to join in? Astray Astray might add you to our DM

I ended up ordering a ZD O+ Excellence with some accesories, I'm intrigued to test how it compares to the Elite v2.

wait what? What's bad about the Dpad? I have a Wolverine V3 on Xbox, and that dpad is godlike...
it feels like if you turned the click stick of a NeoGeo controller into a dpad.
Just for me, not for everybody. I want an NES style dpad. I hate the weird dome thing.

Lmao it's such an emotional roller coaster.

All these so called esport features I will never use. Sounds like marketing gibberish to me. I care about build quality and ergonomics.

Nice, do let us now.

Edit: BTW G7 Pro can map any keys on controller, keyboard or mouse on additional buttons and regular buttons. I confirmed it in the app simpatico simpatico

Sorry it took me so long, I slept in after work lmao.

If you can jump from Apex 4 to 5 it is worth it. Additional back paddles, more compact shape, and sticks latency goes from 50-60ms to like 5ms. We can now measure stick latency btw.

https://gamepadla.com/ is your friend :D.

If anyone has any questions, fire away.
Looking at that site it doesn't seem like there's stick latency for say a DualShock 4 unless I'm misreading things. Most of my modern gamepadding is for Rocket League. I've settled on DS4, tried a few other things including older Razer Wolverine and the Xbox Elites (Razer failed on feel for the most part, Xbox failed on general reliability, lack of QA, lack of accurate inputs, total trash, but always loved the Xbox form factor).

I forget the exact details but there was some USB manipulation to get the DS4 latency as low as possible when wired in Windows. I'm probably just going to buy a new DS4 soon as the current one is a bit worn down but I could probably be convinced to roll the dice on a premium third-party pad.

There are some Russian drivers for overclocking controllers but it requires to basically install unknown software and I think you have to deactivate some security features in Windows. It's no go for me, current third-party pads do just fine without installing unknown drivers.

There may not be stick latency for DualShock 4 because someone would have to build or buy Prometheus 82 for that or have it and DS4 - that's how they measure all these controllers stick latency.

Some may wonder if it's really worth to test it at all, even if they have one imho.

https://ko-fi.com/gamepadla here you can buy an assembled testing unit for $199 lmao.

Excited to give it a spin!

Extremely positive first impressions so far.

  • The build quality is very impressive. Really blows away my Vader 4 Pro from that perspective. Perfect materials/texture for the body, sticks, grips, buttons, and triggers.
  • I have large hands so the smaller size of this controller was a bit concerning to me, but it hasn't been a problem at all. The grips themselves are more rounded and bulbous, which allows my hands to wrap around them nicely despite them being shorter than Xbox or Vader 4 Pro or other controllers of that ilk
  • Back buttons are perfectly placed, and feel like a great mid-point between back paddles and back buttons. They have a paddle-esque feel to them despite being buttons.
  • Synapse software works well, if being a little bloated. I've got all the buttons doing exactly what I need, so no complaints there
  • I don't care much about the 8,000 polling rate, as IMO when we're talking about shaving off a couple of milliseconds, it's impossible to notice the difference. Still nice to have I suppose.
  • A rumble option would've been nice, and I probably would've opted for rumble if I could've, but that would've made this controller too perfect I guess lol

So yeah, loving it so far, and it'll be taking over my Vader 4 Pro as my new daily driver.

The Xbox wolverine v3 would have fit all your need.

It's dumb but I didn't want the big ugly Xbox button on it.

Plus I got the 8k for $140 new

Alright I take it back. I didn't realize it, but I was limited to 1000hz polling rate because I was using ReWASD to remap some of my keys and create some macros and that's ReWASDs maximum rate. I've removed ReWASD from the equation and the lower latency with 8000hz is actually perceivable compared to my Vader 4 Pro.

The biggest impact is when I'm playing a game using Frame Generation, or when I'm doing in-home streaming to my laptop while my family is using the living room TV, as that lower controller latency helps make up for the added latency from frame gen and/or streaming.

Good stuff! I'm loving this controller.

If anyone ever makes a controller with silent switches I'll be first in line. Quality doesn't have to be loud.

I feel like I'm in a tiny minority of people that wants controllers to be as quiet as possible. My feedback is the game's output. If I want to test I'll use test software.

I just picked up a Gamesir T3 Lite aka Tegenaria Lite. Partly because I wanted a DS4-like controller with HE, partly because I can't resist a bargain and it was £17, partly because I wanted something that wasn't quite as loud as the 8bitdo U2. The whole controller was cheaper than buying TMR modules for my DS4.

✅ Quieter than other controllers (membrane; a plus for me)
✅ HE analog
✅ £20 RRP
✅ Good build quality
❌ Can't map a back button then make that turbo, which reduces utility
❌ Trigger shape being flat and angled means larger hands push into an edge
ℹ️ Symmetrical
ℹ️ Fixed wire

My plan was/is to use this to tide me over until the Cyclone 3 releases, but I'm still tempted by the C2.

BeardSpike BeardSpike let me know when that OT is posted!

I had Tegenaria Lite. Really decent controller in its price range. Those HE sticks are really really good, low latency, good linearity, 1000Hz polling rate, decent membranes not the highest quality but certainly not the lowest quality either.

What I didn't like basically were that triggers had low travel rate compared to other controllers, like DS4/DS5 and 8BitDo Pro 2 even.

But as a stop gap controller, it should serve you well until C3 releases.

Do you have large or small hands?? I can pitch in a few words about Cyclone 2, as I am more on a smaller hand size spectrum. And I had it before jumping to G7 Pro.

About OT, will do!

I agree with all of that, the only difference is that I don't play a lot of games where the triggers are useful as triggers so the short travel doesn't affect me much at all.

I'd appreciate that, thanks! Definitely large hands here: >20cm from base of palm to middle fingertip. On the T Lite the segment of my finger sits past the trigger.

Cyclone 2 was kind of uncomfortable for me because of my girlish hands lmao.

My middle finger was uncomfortable, you may not have that problem.

Also it was quite light I might add, about same as Tegenaria Lite which is insane on it's own.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

It's hard to commit to the Cyclone 2 knowing there's a sequel on the way, but I really am tempted.
