Quick Question; Can I focus on the main story and do all optional stuff in the endgame or are certain things inaccesible after you complete the main quest. I kindly ask to avoid spoilers.
Certain side quests are only available in that chapter.

So has R* said when they are going to patch all the PS4 Pro issues. HDR, Blur etc. Or like make the game 1440P instead of shitty 1920 x 2160

So am I unable to get 100%? I missed a couple of Stranger missions that I can't find on my map post game

Camp seems at unrest, Arthur is at unrest, the leadership is non existent.. it's like everything has gone to shit and is constantly going deeper.

Yes I felt the same way near the end and this is why I was skipping the Stranger missions in favour of seeing the conclusion to the main plot, a few specific things make it seem silly that Arthur would do anything other than deal with his gang's situation.

Upgrade the camp using the ledger. A fast travel map then becomes available outside your tent.

That is still fairly shitty though, I only used that once in my entire playthrough. The fact that it's only accessible from Arthur's room is kind of stupid. In game the fast travel is literally just a map that Arthur owns, I don't see why that couldn't have been something he was able to carry and use from anywhere on the world map.

10/10 game of the gen for me and top 3 all time. Amazing open world, incredible atmosphere, so much to do, variety etc. The missions are a bit less creative than i expected but the story and characters help to alleviate that. Cant wait til online drops, even though they said Nov I dont expect we will get that until late Dec/Jan but thats cool I can jump on 100%ing the SP.

Trains and Stagecoaches also act as fast travel. Also if you set a waypoint on your map, and then hold in the touchpad on PS4 it swaps to cinematic camera and the horse will auto-steer on roads.

Still a worse option than simply letting Arthur's fast travel work from anywhere on the map, there's really no logical reason they couldn't do that.

Also, I do enjoy doing the cinematic camera thing so I can put the controller down, appreciate the visuals and vape or do some phone stuff - but I swear 9 times out of 10 when I do this for any semi long distances, I am caught off guard by bandits and killed before I'm able to appropriately respond.

There's a clear intent by the game designers to make the player gallop and absorb the huge world, which creation required immense resources to be invested. That is illustrated not just by making fast travel only available from camp but also the random, game influential encounters that occur when galloping around. Personally doesn't bother me but I can see why someone could be frustrated after a while.

Yeah I actually loved the horse travel and was very rarely frustrated or bored with it. It's just that sometimes I literally had to trek nearly all the way across the map to sell something I didn't want to lose or some other reason, and it's just unnecessarily tedious.

One time I sat down to do a mission after I got home from work, and I think when I loaded I was near a legendary animal hunt. I was jonesing to start this mission, but I also wanted to get these hunts out of the way and I figured what the hell here i am. So I hunted it, and then had to travel for like half an hour to the trapper, was killed, and then had to travel like another huge distance to get back to the mission marker. I spent almost an hour just travelling to do this little side thing before a mission I thought I would be starting in like 5 minutes. It's not that much more helpful to have to go to the stagecoach areas to cut the time a bit, plus when I did do this, often my horse would not have followed and was literally standing at the location I started the stagecoach ride. Great!

Like you said, it didn't bother me all that much, but it is a clumsy implementation in my mind.

Nah, you can still get 100%, nothing in that category is missable. Certain achievements/trophies are missable but getting a a full score/platinum in this game is going to be a fucking chore anyway (level 50 in an online mode that doesn't currently exist). I'm just going for 100%, which like GTA V isn't actually 100%, just "see enough of the game". For example you only need to finish 1 set of cards, not all of them, thank Christ.

Spoiler question about the epilogue

how much of the New Austin map is available? I did the mission where you take out the bounty hunters near armadillo, but since then there hasn't been any reason to trek out that way and I'm curious if there's anything worth seeing out there, like any missions or anything?

I dont know about the examples you posed, but some quests are missable.

So I made the mistake of trying to explore the mining town (Why am I exploring a game world that in no way shape or form rewards exploration.. I have no idea)..

Walked up to a completely innocuous mining building having no clue (and given no clue) it was considered private property and a guard I couldn't see in the shadows immediately screamed bloody murder at me and began firing his weapon. I didn't even touch the building, I was just approaching it in the middle of the day greeting people all along the way like a good citizen and now ten guards are shooting me down while unarmed.

You know what's better than that? Ten minutes early as I first happened upon the town I was in the outskirts trying to figure out why the environment physics in this game seem much more limited than GTA4 and 5 by tossing my throwing knives at random trash on the ground. Do you want to guess what happened?
WITNESS, Vandalism! Red eyeball running into town from some concerned citizen over a guy destroying a rusty opened can near the river outside town....
So I had to run and change into a racoon hat winter outfit to throw that revolutionary AI off my trail as I sauntered into town past them....

You know what's even better than that? A short while earlier I found the Rocky Seven robbery house to the North, but for some reason I couldn't rob it. Can't kick in the door can't jump through windows that I'm allowed to break in, can only look at it and all the objects I can't interact with from the outside. Hilarious, one of the very few intact buildings you can supposedly enter and steal from and the game won't let you for some arbitrary reason! IMMERSION! Best world simulation ever, 10/10! Game of the generation, other devs take notes!

At what point in the game does the world start making any fucking sense? Is that one of the chapter unlocks maybe? One of the camp upgrades? Perhaps I should just stick to the missions so I don't confuse this game for having a believable, immersive or interactive open world. I have to remind myself it's just there to gawk at and traverse very slowly and awkwardly until the game decides to RNG an encounter that completely fucks up what little progress you've made in the past hour.

Oh boy.. The thought of it.. can't wait to start up some missions that can only play out one correct way to completion. You know you've designed the most revolutionary 10/10 game ever when the only excitement that comes from playing the story missions the critics love so much is trying the figure out the only correct way the designers expect you to "Cover Micah!"
Oh... You thought you should cover Micah by shooting all the people shooting at him, well the dev didn't have that in mind, you were only supposed to shoot a couple and then run along side him so * FAILED! Restart from Checkpoint! *
"Your game is shit compared to this.." - Esteemed videogame journalist
Can't wait to experience more of that... Oh well there's always the gunplay... Oh.

Maybe I should just watch the story on YouTube so I don't have to experience more of the "game" part of this supposed best game of all time.

Quick Question; Can I focus on the main story and do all optional stuff in the endgame or are certain things inaccesible after you complete the main quest. I kindly ask to avoid spoilers.

You can't which is frustrating so during my second play thorugh i'm going to save an additional save for each chapter so you can.

What? There are lots of out of the way little missions and things that I still have not discovered that a guy at work keeps telling me about. What do you want for exploring exactly lol?

I just beat everything, absolutely my favourite Rockstar game. Love nearly everything about it. The melee combat felt awkward though and I never got the hang of that.

And without spoiling anything, I will just say that the final thing you do in this game wasn't as satisfying as the final thing you do in the first game, but that aside, I thought the whole wrap up to this game was pretty incredible. What I'm talking about is:
Killing Micah vs getting revenge on the guy who murdered your dad. Although Micah was very hatable and in the final dead eye sequence I put all of my rounds into his his face lol

New here and do not know how to hide spoilers. So I can't reply without ruining it for others. But I agree it was nowhere near as satisfying. But that may also have to do with how it played out as well.

Unique weapons or loot. Upgraded camp, gear or clothing items so that crafting isn't the only way to get certain things. Treasure maps and more. Lots of open world games have done this and it's satisfying.

That was easy.

There are unique weapons, I'm not sure how many but I found a rare rolling block rifle somewhere. There is "loot" in the form of collectibles, money, resources....

Ok this is weird as fuck, I just loaded up my game, and my character is wearing a completely different outfit that I have never purchased.

I have the snake skin gloves on or whatever they're called, a different hat, a nice black vest with red trim, and some chaps.

At first I didn't notice it because it's similar to how I was dressed normally (I was using the default hat, a black vest and some basic grey pants). I got on my horse and noticed the hat was different, so I picked the default hat from my horses's inventory, and the hat I was wearing just fell to the ground, and left an icon on the mini map for the hat (I've never seen that icon before and there are several times it would have been nice to have that on my mini map when I couldn't find my hat after losing it in a fight)

So after I saw the icon on the mini map I went back to it to see what was up. I get a text prompt telling me that I've found a special hat and it will be stored in my inventory etc. It just looks like one of the goofy droopy cowboy hats you can buy at the stores, I'm not sure what's special about it.

Anyway that's when I noticed all of my other clothes were different. Fucking weird.

Edit: Like honestly, what the fuck? I went to my wardrobe, and tried to see what these clothes are. The hat is identifiable, it's apparently a crafted muskrat cavalry hat. Don't remember crafting that, but ok.

But when I try to see what the vest is, the list shows no vest equipped (no checkmark anywhere), and no crafted vests. I checked the shirts and coats category, nothing. It doesn't exist except on my custom outfit. Same for these snake skin gloves and the chaps.

Yeah exactly

It was so much more satisfying to be mad about John Marsten being killed and then having the insanely cool surprise of the time jump allow you to get revenge on the bastard, and the whole way the RED DEAD REDEMPTION comes up after you destroy the guy is just one of the most satisfying endings ever.

Contrasted with a Mexican standoff where Dutch actually takes the shot, and you just sort of finish him off. And I didn't really understand why Dutch turned on him at that moment, it felt to me like he should have seen Micah was bad news when Arthur was dying on the cliff at Dutch's feet and pleading with him to see the truth.

Love the story and the ending. Who would have thought?
"A simple money lending side mission from strauss would turn out be a major plot in the game for arthur"

That was really unexpected.

There are unique weapons as well as items that are specifically marked "This item is unique."
The game is solid and a second playthrough aimed at 100% will do me good.

Why are you talking to me like I haven't put a couple dozen hours in this game uncovering most corners of the map?

'There are unique weapons, treasure maps and unique items, lol.' Okay, yeah. And they are so rare they are confined to scripted events, encounters and gunslinger side missions instead of exploring like what I was talking about in that sentence, rewards for exploration.

Finding unique items tied to camp character requests is not a reward for exploration. You don't even get to use the items or get anything worthwhile out of it.
Treasure maps from what I've played so far aren't found in the world they are given to you by certain characters or random encounters.
Going to the marker of a gunslinger, killing them and taking their gun is not a reward for exploration. That's a quest reward.

Taking the gun from gunsmith's basement or from the old lady rumored to be a gun smuggler isn't rewarding someone for exploring, it's just a pseudo quest.
Although I'll admit those were good ways to reward the players curiosity in those cases, they're just too few and far between.

There's just so much of this world to explore that ends up giving nothing of value back but a pretty vista and I find that a missed opportunity.

Shit here I am defending at length my brief take on exploration when that wasn't even a main point of that post... It's even my favorite thing to do in the game... Yea I like the pretty vista's and animals. Plan get my money's worth of it.

Something similar happened to me. I know for sure that I didn't buy the item cause I buy the crafted items by set and that was the only one marked as owned in that set. Honestly I'm surprised there's no patch for the game yet. Yes, it's relatively stable and can be done start to finish with practically no problem but little things are really annoying. The treasure for the sketched map is bugged for me, i'm at the correct spot but the prompt is not showing up.

They will probably release a huge ass update with stability and all when online goes live.

oh man.. I came across a place where they were building railways and it seemed like they used those people as slaves who worked on it. So I shot down the guards but then those workers run off as freaking withnesses and then I just shot them.. That kinda sucked lol

Played the game entirely in first person, start to finish.

Controls aren't that bad, no. Maybe that's why I never understood why people had so much trouble with the controls.

Controls are fine but it really gets problematic once there are many enemies ganging up on you and also I can't already count how many times a pack of wolves killed me because of the bad controls.

No news on Red Dead Online yet? I guess Thursday is the day then (R* usually has announcements on Thursdays?) or they delay it to December.

It’s so weird to me seeing people say this game was their biggest disappointment of the year. I get it. We all have our own tastes. But all I can do is think about this game lately. I woke up this morning and while getting ready to work, I was thinking about the next time I’ll get to play the game today. I am completely addicted to it.

Is it possible to miss the legendary gunslinger quest? I had no idea that was even a thing, now I'm reading about these cool legendary weapons and can't seem to activate the quest in the post-game. Am I fucked? The guy isn't showing up at the saloon in Valentine.

I think the mission is unmissable even after the epilogue. But the legendary guns can be lost forever if you didn't get them from their respective gunslingers.

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.

If my memory serves me right the woman gunslinger doesn't give you a gun after you finish her mission but for the other gunslingers yes you can get their legendary guns.

Likely delayed til Dec/Jan, although not confirmed R* are a law to themselves and there is little chance they will drop it without a trailer or two to build hype.

Just reached chapter 4. Enjoying it, the scenery and atmosphere mostly but I am starting to rush to the story a lil bit. Dont care much for the side activities unlike the first RDR. Cant say I find it better yet.

To be honest it's starting to feel unhealthy how much this game is occupying my thoughts. I'm even dreaming in RDR2. I've been looking for a moose in game for a while now and I dreamt that I was playing and finally found one with a perfect pelt and part of me knows I'm dreaming but dream me says I should save anyway and just hope the pelt carries over.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but has Rockstar said anything about the HDR issues on PS4 Pro and if they’re trying to fix them? I’ve been out of the loop for a while.
