Anyone have their temporary horse keep showing up while on their main horse? I'm not even sure where this horse came from, but it keeps following me around.
I recently bought a rifle from a gun shop and for some reason the double barrel shotgun that was on my horse is not there anymore! It also says I don't own the gun when I look at the catalogue from the gun shop. This happened earlier when I bought a repeater and the pump action shotgun I had is nowhere to be found. Does the horse only carry a limited amount of weapons? Has anyone ran into this problem?
I had an Ultimate Edition question.
I'm at the tail end of Chapter 3.
Part of the content of the UE was another gang hideout and a robbery mission.
When do you get these? Do they let you know?
Thanks,

Question: I purchased the Special or Ultimate Editions of Red Dead Redemption 2, where can I find the exclusive Bank Robbery Mission and Gang Hideout?
Answer: The Del Lobos gang hideout is available to players to find in the world through Story Mode progression.
Note: The Bank Robbery Mission is available as part of Story Mode progression. In-game alerts will notify you when the mission can be played. If you miss the opportunity to play this mission during the natural Story Mode progression, you can replay it through the Story option via the Pause Menu.
I've never seen or heard of this happening so I thought I would share! I was fishing out by Brandywine Drop/Roanoke Ridge during a storm and Lightening struck a tree and the BOOM scared the life out of me LOL!

I suddenly realized my horse with my saddle and gear had a different name and breed. It took me a while to notice because the color and pattern was similar. What made me lose my store bought racing horse and end up with a generic standard horse?

No clue you would have to manually saddle the new horse or your previous horse dies, Maybe your horse was nearby and died without you realizing it? I believe the game then transfers the saddle to another in your stable. The game could give you a generic horse if you didn't unlock the stable yet.

Humm... I had a full stable and this new horse was not part of it. I should check my stable and see if my race horse is there. I don't recall it dying.

Finished chapter 4 last night, not ready to discuss any spoilers but lordy! I'm in full on finish-the-story mode now. I'll start another playthrough for moseying around in but I need to finish this thing.
I am really loving this game. Whether I am just playing poker all night because I am too tired for missions or out causing trouble, I've enjoyed most every second.
I'll offer one complaint though, I wish there were less forced walking/riding sequences. Seriously, I have never understood the point of making me hold the left stick for 5 minutes straight rather than making it a cutscene.

Yeah i missed a lot of quests due to them just disappearing, or due to the camp bug.
Would be nice if they added a way to view all missions including those you missed and the option to play them. I know you can view the missions you completed but I don’t believe there’s a way to see ones you missed
Still having a blast with the smallest of things just spent hours fishing. Game is like it was made for me Perfection for those that take time seek the depth and want the realism literally a cowboy sim.
I never liked the first RDR on Xbox360 but this game is a different animal. Love it, it has so much more to offer than RDR1 for me. It's a natural evolution from R* previous games.
I really don't get why they didn't allow you to use the fast travel anywhere. Just have Arthur pull out a map, you place a marker or pick a location and you see the little cutscene of him traveling by horse. It doesn't really detract too much for me, but it's a weird decision to include fast travel but make it so limited.
So when exactly can I do more homestead robberies? I've been told about a few from random NPCs but the only one I've actually been able to do is the one in Chapter 2 with the family who had their own dialect. None since and I'm some ways into chapter 4. I feel like I should have done more by now, especially seeing as I have been picking up a few.

Pretty sure they aren't really required to be company activities. Try pressing left on your dpad to check your quest log, there should be an entry for homesteads. You can do them alone, you can even find certain homesteads in real time and then raid them.

I realise I'm in the minority here (am I..?) but I found this game terrible. Most disappointing game of the eighth generation for me, for certain.
I sold my copy to CEX (gaming store here in the UK) for £40, cash. Got it from Amazon not 3 weeks ago for £46, so only down £6. Shame. I was a big fan of the first RDR and pre-ordered RDR2 back in 2016(!) when it was first announced. My grievances are basically the same as those held by Yahtzee Croshaw and the (current) most helpful user review on MetaCritic. Gave the game a good three weeks and made it to chapter 5 of the story, but found myself being more of a spectator than a participant.
Nice, I might actually pick that point. Not being able to interact with Trelawny is fine, I don't think it's possible to get him at a point where everyone else is there anyway so I'm ok with the compromise. In fact one of the points I considered stopping at is the one after you take Sadie to Rhodes but leave Dutch perpetually looking to the west while standing at the shore. He looked so happy and content at that point. And I just really love the bolt action rifle in the game, perfect mix of everything I can ask for in a gun. My usual loadout are dual cattlemans, the pump-action shotgun and the bolt-action rifle. I'd pick the semi-auto shotgun but I wanted to be period accurate and that wasn't in circulation yet in 1899.
I ended up choosing that point. It included one extra mission (Blessed Are the Peacemakers) that I didn't think would trigger, but that's where I end up choosing. Been free roaming there since my last reply and I think it's a pretty great point to 'infinitely' free roam at. I'll probably rotate between the post-credits Epilogue and there, at least until RD Online, but for now I think it's my favorite point (story-wise) to stop and free roam at.
Btw, the fuck was up with the first half of Chapter 5? That felt like an unnecessary detour and slammed the breaks on the plot. It was like watching a movie and then the movie uses the same cast in an tangential "what if" scenario to then return back to it.
i was a bit drunk tho so maybe that helped with the pacing haha
if I had known, even a slight amount, it was coming... I may have disliked the change. but TBH, as earlier as CH3, I was wondering, when or if New Austin was coming... ever mission I was thinking, New Austion yet? desert yet?
so CH5 for me was pretty woah. i enjoyed it. i'm happy it was brief and played out with movie-length and they didn't try stretch it in any way.

thought it was a hell of a ride myself :O

One thing about that point I totally forgot is that apparently Molly disappears from camp during that time. I'm not quite sure if it's a bug like with the Marstons or if it's intended. Some people say she's throwing a tantrum somewhere and that's it's intended but I remember she shows up in cutscenes so I'm not certain. Is Molly in your camp at this point? She apparently disappears after "An Honest Mistake". I'm still currently at the point where you first go to the Grays so she's still there. Frankly I wasn't sure that I was affected by this bug the first time I played cause Molly wasn't someone that I paid much attention to.
Right now I'm just doing as many challenges as I can but I think I have to move a bit to the point you mentioned to get the horse fence for the bandit challenges. I think it's possible to do them all except for Herbalist.
I just have no desire to continue playing. I mean, I knew Arthur was probably going to die at the end seeing as he wasn't in RDR1, but after playing as Arthur for just over 60 hours I have absolutely NO desire to play as John.
It's weird, though. Even though I knew Arthur would eventually die, I still kinda expected to get to play as him in the Epilogue. I thought I would get to mop up the mess and then die peacefully somewhere down the line.

Same. I finished the main story like 10 days ago and
I'm still playing through the Epilogue, little by little. It does pick up a bit/get more interesting, but generally speaking, I share your sentiment. - I was far more interested in playing as Arthur, and would much rather have continued exploring the world as him.
I finished the main story last night, ending kind of felt like it came up on me fast. I thoroughly enjoyed this game and I'm really looking forward to finishing up everything that I have left to do. It's probably my favourite Rockstar game to date.
Just beat the game and epilogue, if I were to rate it I would give it a 9.5/10 it is a once in a lifetime experience. My only gripe is the aiming when shooting. Wish I did more of the side quest. Guys there are certain side quests near the end of the game that are superb. This game is my favorite rockstar game to date only followed up by San Andreas. If I were to rank this game in terms of games released this generation in a top 5:
1 LoZ BoTW
2 TW3
3 RDR 2
4 Blood Borne
5 Persona 5
1 and 2 can easily be swapped, that's how good they are and they are my only 10s this generation.

I wanted to like BoTW but the lack of interesting dungeons and the weapons that break just turned me off overall. It's one of my least favorite Zeldas just because of those two issues because everything else was amazing.

I hear ya, that shit almost caused me to drop the game then for some reason everything just started to click and it became my most favorite Zelda game. It's not for everyone, That's why I said TW3 is just as good or even better than it.

Unless it died, you can't lose a Stable Horse... Simply riding another horse won't affect it either. It'll permanently, and often persistently except for certain things (e.g. if you ride a train and it's not hitched, it'll spawn where you get off the train). This new horse is likely a Temporary Horse... If your Stables were full, meaning you never saddled the new one, it'd have to be your 'Temp. Horse' if it's staying with you. So, maybe your Stabled Horse (Arthur's Horse on the world map) is just somewhere else?
You check the actual Stables and the old one is gone?
Was the 2nd attempt a scripted one with a gang member?
I've done a few of gang hideouts that are featured in the story twice because I came across them before the story progression did, but no homesteads twice... And I think I've come across maybe two, at least one tho, and it was empty and cleaned out after I had robbed t (the one you do with Sean).

I think part of it is that we're not done mourning...
I think at the very least, the pacing change was poor. Chapter 6 ends and it hits you so hard, and so quickly then you're a homesteader on a wagon and then shoveling poop.
I actually ended up really enjoying the Epilogue and there's some pretty magical moments, but that first hour or two I just didn't care.
IMO at the very least, I think the full 45 minute credits should have rolled after Chapter 6 or something... give the player a change to mourn and reflect a little lol -- and then, oh, wow, there's more...
The way it flows directly to the wagon was too soon I thought.
All that said, I mostly free roam again as Arthur just because John's beard only grows to Lv7... and a Lv7 John beard looks like a Lv5 or 6 Arthur beard haha. Doesn't even remotely come close to the texture and physics of a magnificent max-size Arthur beard haha
Plus... anyone else bothered that John' Epilogue face looks nothing like his cutscene face o.0
It's almost like a RDR Online character... the face looks different, a short scruffy beard looks different, his hair is parted to the wrong side, and the hair styles are just Arthur's (not his cutscene one).
Max beard, I mean, he does look the homesteading rancher lol. But I thought his character model with just scruff looked bad and not really the same as he should.
That guy is weird and I never figured out what his deal was. The third time I ran across him he ran after me for a while when I tried to leave, I considered killing him to put him out of his misery but decided against it in case he ended up being important.
Although maybe he is in the epilogue somewhere, I just ran into the two brothers who always want you to do stuff to them
Nah, both were just me going to a random homestead.
The one in particular is somewhere south of Rhodes, near the shore of the lake. A drunkard father and his son living together alone. I don't know if this one is just the exception to the rule because I didn't do very many homestead missions. I'm planning a second playthrough where I'll spend a lot more time just roaming the open world.

i wonder that as long as you don't do the one with a gang member, the 'free roam' one will keep respawning (a la gang hideouts).
either that or the one that didn't respawn for me was unique to just that homestead (just the Sean one). i haven't checked others yet, i guess.
not sure about gang hideouts, either, actually... i've done the O'Discrolls ranch one quite a few times but I guess actually that's the only one I recheck so far.
In my opinion, the author of this article completely misses the interesting racial and gender issues that are part of the game's narratives and its characters. This emphasis makes the game's characters more nuanced than a 1950s western or pulp cowboy novel. You can especially see this in the interesting portrayal of race in the characters as they interact with the Lemoyne Raiders and the storyline around Rhodes.
Another aspect of the RDR2 storyline that adds depth to the characters is the reference to family members dying in the Civil War. As this 2009 book claims, the generations in America that grew up during/following the Civil War had very interesting views of death - since the death if young soldiers on both sides during the war was so prevalent. You can see this in several of the characters in RDR2:
Is everyone a historian now to know exactly which little detail is a cliche?
“The first time we see these guys(Native Americans) they are (you guessed it) sitting on horseback on a ridge, overlooking the traveling band of heroes” Hows that a problem? I am sure they probably did that sometimes when someone crossed their lands. Just because it happens a lot in westerns doesnt mean it never happened and is bad to use.
This article is a good example of overthinkining and missing the important points.
I just beat everything, absolutely my favourite Rockstar game. Love nearly everything about it. The melee combat felt awkward though and I never got the hang of that.
And without spoiling anything, I will just say that the final thing you do in this game wasn't as satisfying as the final thing you do in the first game, but that aside, I thought the whole wrap up to this game was pretty incredible. What I'm talking about is:
Killing Micah vs getting revenge on the guy who murdered your dad. Although Micah was very hatable and in the final dead eye sequence I put all of my rounds into his his face lol
Quick Question; Can I focus on the main story and do all optional stuff in the endgame or are certain things inaccesible after you complete the main quest. I kindly ask to avoid spoilers.
