Some thoughts on Space Cop:

- The soundtrack is so good.
- Mike's voice is terrible, it makes jokes that would otherwise be fine seem lazy.
- This isn't helped by some of the jokes actually just being lazy. There's 3 or 4 instances of Family Guy Esc "the same thing happening over and over again for a few minutes in the hopes that it will get funny".
- The movie is pretty funny though, I was laughing throughout. Gags like the illegal alien one or the solitaire joke are great
- The Patton Oswalt bit was good too.
- Jay is the perfect henchman.
- The special effects are great. The miniatures are pretty noticeable though, and the adr is really distracting.
- The criticism of it being "intentionally bad" is misguided, the film is clearly just trying to be a silly comedy. It's schlocky yeah, but the jokes are never about how schlocky or cheaply made it is.
- Surprised at some people calling it boring, even when the movie was bad, I was never bored.

Overall I enjoyed it for what it is, and thought parts of it were very funny. It's unfortunate that it's so uneven as a comedy, for every good joke there a shitty fart joke or terrible Mike line.

I just realized something about the Phantom Menace, and felt like posting it here instead of starting a new thread, since RLM is the de-facto home of Prequel hate.

Anakin has just finished making a racing pod, which means that Waddo technically owns it, since Anakin is Waddo's property, but Waddo doesn't know that Anakin made a pod, so Qui Gon can just say it's his and nobody is the wiser (Qui Gon is a thief).

Qui Gon tells Waddo that he's just acquired a racing pod (through thievery), and tries to bet it against Anakin and Shmi Skywalker. Waddo says "No pod is worth two slaves," which implies that he's open to the idea of parting with his slaves (or gambling with that same amount), it's just the price he's concerned with.

Qui Gon says that if it's just one, he wants Anakin, but Waddo objects because young children are worth more money than old women. They gamble on a dice roll to see which slave they're going to bet for (Qui Gon cheats at gambling), and since Waddo is concerned about value and the odds, that implies that a pod's worth is at least somewhere between the value of Anakin and Shmi. AKA: the pod is worth more than Shmi Skywalker, whose life is cheap.

Qui Gon (through more complicated betting, including betting Padme's ship on a race he had no control over) wins free parts for Padme's ship, Anakin's freedom, and he gets to keep the pod, which has just been proven to be the fastest racing pod on the planet, with very low mileage. So why didn't Qui Gon trade/sell the pod for Shmi's freedom? Waddo was willing to part with her, and already did sell her several years before the next movie began, meaning she doesn't even have a story reason to remain Waddo's slave. Qui Gon has no use for a racing pod, while Waddo could clearly use one.

Qui Gon is an asshole. He probably takes the pod for joyrides while Anakin cries himself to sleep at night.

"I didn't actually come here to free slaves." - Qui Gon Jinn

Did the RLM website get rid of their index page? You used to be able to see a text list of all the movies they've ever reviewed, but I can't find it now.

[TPM comments]

One thing I only noticed after repeated viewings was that Anakin cheated to win the race: He fell behind after his pod was sabotaged, and the only reason he caught up was because he took a short-cut by crashing through a barrier blocking a closed-off road that led steeply uphill which launched him back among the lead pods.

Can't believe they didn't watch the Leo video...

Watching 30 seconds of Exploding Varmints on youtube, I'm shocked they go through all of it.

My reaction to Exploding Varmints.

I couldn't finish Space Cop. Sorry guys.

I cant blame you, its a bad movie. And no, sadly its not "so bad is good!11!". It has that AVGN Movie quality to it, where you are just waiting for it to end.

If people bought it to support RLM then that is great, i am all for that.

In hindsight they should not have gone with this zany idea, Rich and Mike play these characters who are less funny than they are simply being themselves.

10 min into this new ep of best of the worst.
I JUST HAVE TO STOP FOR A MOMENT

bwhahahahhahahahahahaha almost passed out of laughing HOLY SHIT soooooooo funny :D:D:D:D:D:D:D WOW !!!

bwhahhahhhaahah shit man I just can't anymore :D:D:D

The latest WotW was me feeling, full on, what it's like to laugh as a self defense mechanism because wow, that episode was brutal.

Not just from Exploding Varmints, from the commentary to the jokes to the utter nihilism I felt through all 3 videos. It was rough...
poor morels guy :c

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
The energy in this episode was really weird. Like, they were clearly energized and upbeat and then the videos happen.

There are so many hunting videos like that out there.

Ground Hogs and other varments can be huge problems for farmers and home owners but when it comes to killing or removing them usually people don't sexualize it.

They mentioned that too. Had this been an instructional video. Portraying it as a necessity would have been totally different.

I'd like to see them try again on a horror film. Or maybe make a more focused comedy.

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything
What a disappointing episode.
There was so much to learn. Not only did I not learn how to be cool at parties (I already know how to push my face against a window) I also didn't learn how to rape seduce ladies through hypnosis. Man, bummer

I think they'd have a better time making a Garden State parody or something. Some more subtle than Rich groaning about having to work as he stumbles across a set over and over again.

I was kind of hoping they'd get the Hypnosis one as well, just to see what it actually was. Though that was before Exploding Varmints gave us exactly what it said on the tin, so I'm not so sure I want to see the hypnosis one anymore...

true. I also wanted to know about elderly people and their AIIIIDSSSSSS!

It's mentioned often by RLF, so I figured I'd mention it here.

I watched like 5 minutes of Exploding Vermin and couldn't continue.

Like they said, that one shot with the zoom-out to the guy rubbing his head was fucking really pornographic. Goddamn, this is dark.
