So I see you can unbind the hold breath/zoom key from sprint, but where do you go to set the alternate key for it?

what sort of performance would i get with CoD on a 2500k/6950? been waiting for that one to cook for a while.

pretty bummed the multiplayer campaign mode got cut from RO2, one of my most anticipated features. i'd have no idea how to review it, there are bugs, cut features, balance issues, performance nukes and all kinds of gremlins dotted around, but the moment to moment combat and map design is so far above anything i've played for this last generation that even putting it in the same score bracket seems insulting.

i like to think this is tripwire's way of giving people the full pc gaming experience. drop a freshly baked console greenhorn into the front lines and watch them rise from technological primates into command line config conquerors; as lethal with a registry editor as they are with a kar98k.

I freaking love CoD, but it still has a way to go.

As far as RO2 goes, I'm not getting all the dissapointment people are showing here. It is buggy in places, but it's not stopping me from enjoying the best FPS gameplay I've ever tried and I don't mind waiting for bugs to be ironed out. I am on an NVIDIA though, which I hear really helps.

I mean, people bitching about a buggy release here then going 'I'll just go play Dead Island!' seems pretty ironic.

EDIT: For others asking about CoD. The game runs pretty smoothly on medium rigs now and there was recently a new patch that seems to have fixed all the sound issues that people were having. Works fine as a PvP game now, but the big thing that's still not fixed is the AI, which is basically totally broken. I mean 'doesn't even follow the laws of phyics properly' broken. 'Will happily fly face first into a mountain' broken.

I built some bomber interception missions that work nicely and play them with buddies, but trying to get any kind of fighter escort working, or even just a straight up dogfight going is pretty impossible at the moment.

Yeah. I've played for about 75 minutes and had one CTD and one laggy match. Game is great.

Game is still fantastic and the FOV being toned down didn't bother me at all, thankfully. I was kind of worried about that.

I think I am going to avoid Fallen Fighters for a bit though. I don't know if it's the all the new players or what, but it's kind of a headache right now, heh.

I figured out it's bound by default to H key. I guess you have to edit an ini to remap it.

Im getting around 45 to 50fps consistently with a Q9450, 4gb, 6950 2gb on CoD with latest Beta patch (due to go into full release any day now).

I must ask...a lot of folks here, going by settings discussion, seem to be having issues of framerate - amongst other things - whilst having everything set to ultra.

As a fellow who passes the minimum requirements by a decent margin, but shackled by a dual-core i5 4GB and a 1GB ATI card, what're the lower settings like? I'm not fussed by graphical fidelity, just don't need much in the way of hitching and framerate drops.
 
Wow, this game is incredible. Nothing like marching in with 20 other people to get blown up. Loving it and still learning. I have been rocking the machine gunner and feels good mowing down people.

I don't know a whole lot about the performance side of the game(the guy sitting next to me does), but I do know that the reason that frame rate tanking and GPU utilization going down happen together is because there are too many Draw Calls in a number of situations and we're over using the Rendering Thread on the CPU. We have drastically reduced the number of Draw Calls in the worst cases, but we definitely haven't "fixed" the whole problem. We'll be continuing this process post release.
 
I have got so many bayonet kills today. I met an enemy in a trench and we both shot at each other at the same time, he decides to reload while I decided to run at him with my bayonet drawn. That Fritz had no chance.
 
Speaking of tanks, there was a guy camped up in a guard post and one of our tanks blew the whole thing off the ground. It was amazing to see destructible buildings.

Walls and buildings aren't destructible (everything's half-destroyed to begin with anyway), but small stuctures, fences, trees, short walls can all be blown up.

Probably because pushing the game so far back eventually became unsustainable and they realized people would enjoy the game regardless of the bugs.

Delete your Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config folder, I think. Had that bug early in the beta and that fixed it.

I don't think there would be too much binary overlap with the two titles. One is a relatively hardcore WWII combat game, the other a rollicking bombastic yeehaa-ride. While devotion of time is of course part of the equation, in the event of a fellow picking up both games, they'd be played to scratch relatively different itches.

Or am I reading too much into RO2's intensity?

RO has a lot of variables to keep track of but I'd hardly call it a simulator.

It's perhaps too strong a word, but I dare not use industry catch-alls like "immersive". I suppose I wanted to emphasise how much more needs to be taken into consideration, rather than the point and shoot approach we've seen elsewhere.
 
RO is not a simulator at all, it is simply the greatest FPS shooter ever made however. The gunplay/ sounds/ weapons/ kill animations/ maps can't be beat.

Started the single player campaign, and it was running at 15FPS. I dropped most of the settings to medium range, and when I resumed it was running at 5FPS. I have a pretty solid rig, so something's not right. Guess I'll have to hold out for a patch.

Now it's running at 1-2 FPS. This is worse than WW2 ;_;.

Sigh Unreal 3 engine game running like crap. I can't find comfortable settings. Light Shaft is bugged just like Rock of Ages.

This game suffers the same problem COD1 had. Enemies blend way too well into shadows and walls. Sure it's realistic, but it requires too much face into monitor gameplay. Sorry, my eyes can't handle that shit anymore.

MP: The gameplay its just bliss. A masterful mix of realism and arcade. Got my heart pumping a few times as I mowed down enemy soldiers with the assault class. Oh and getting those kills ... Pure joy. I don't think I've played any other game where the kills were so satisfying. I guess is due to the great shooting model and the death delay is just icing.

I can't complain about how well it performs on my aging setup Either. (dual core+ati4850). Haven't checked with fraps but not noticing any slowdowns, i'd say average is about 30. With settings slightly below medium @ 1080p 2xAA, Even a in a 64 player server.

Was expecting the worst after reading this thread.

I've had like 3 CTD's in 2 hours, none of them during the gameplay though.
Patches will fix all. eventually.

I've played on a 3-4 different servers so far but my profile doesn't seem to register any stats. Is this a known bug or was I just unlucky with the servers (yes they stood under ranked)? This is the one thing that I was worried that there would still be bugs with at the release :/

Thats horrible.. Were you in the beta? if so have you tried deleting your configs?

I wasn't in the beta. I also deleted the configs as Qwomo suggested. I've tried verifying my cache and defragging files with Steam, tried updating my drivers and rebooting my PC but the game remains unplayable. It's much more significant than the performance complaints I've read today, so clearly something is amiss. I'm tempted to delete and reinstall but I was really hoping to kill some natzi's tonight.

Anyone else buy it from getgamesgo today and get a deluxe key? I was on the fence and going to wait until the free weekend to see how it plays then but $24 for a $50 deluxe edition is probably enough to sway me.

EDIT: Nevermind, just bought it and got the Deluxe retail edition. :)
 
Only played very briefly, better performance for sure compared with the previous beta build (not the latest one).

X4 965, 5850 12 GB RAM here. Get good performance out of this one. Remember that this is a PC game and try altering the options. For starters bump down the shadow quality to at least "high" and turn off ambient occlusion for performance gains without loss of significant quality. Try different AA settings since FXAA seems to be running worse than MLAA on my card (even on low), while also looking worse to boot.

Maybe try re-running the UE3 redist found in the binaries folder of the steamapps RO2 folder. Other than that, yeah that's not normal.

Apparently there's still an issue with stats not saving in MP. So, if you want to make headway in MP with some unlocks and rank, don't go nuts just yet.

Think I'll try and get through the campaigns and various difficulty levels and let them iron out this last crap before I attempt MP. Seems like late beta / retail is more broken than what we saw halfway through the beta -- Shame.

That's too bad. I've already had a few really good rounds too. :( But yeah I'il probably do the same and maybe this will be a good thing, it's not like I would have checked out the SP otherwise.

Also noticed that the elite upgrades were still locked so hopefully they can solve both of these problems in a day or two.

A damn shame. I thought it was going to be stable enough for me to only have a few isolated incidents since the last beta patch was pretty damn good for me, but I think the crunch time caught up with them. One thing we do know is that Tripwire will do all they can to fix it ASAP and will support this game for quite some time to come with DLC and patches, so maybe it's more of an investment for me at this point. :D

Which reminds me how badly I want the halftrack ingame. I hope the DLC isn't too far off because I really want to blow up those damn halftracks with the anti-tank rifle every single time I see one. I just want to see how effective the rifle is against the halftrack since it could get you a lot of easy kills and awesome moments to laugh about. Imagine even hitting the halftrack's rear on the right or left side and possibly getting multiple kills with the bullet passing through each body and hitting the next guy in line sitting down in the back.

The biggest problem is, they decided to implement / turn on certain things way too late in the Beta development. Punkbuster alone is destroying every server with high latency, why the hell would they wait to turn that on and test it so late? Then it doesn't help they were really occupied with all the performance issues and will be for some time, that's not exactly a 2 man job.
