Yeah, be careful about posting the obvious fake stuff, guys, it'll just get the thread locked faster. That's exactly what's happened to past NX threads.

Edit: Then again, if it's the same Redditor posting this junk, the discussion probably might as well wrap up.

12 GB must be devkit only. It make more sense manufacturing wise to have the ram in powers of 2. In addition, not sure why NEX needs to have more than 8GB of ram when none of the current gen consoles have it. The BOM budget for those 4GB extra can be used elsewhere, such as CPU, GPU or DSP.

The most recent reddit drifted between blatantly fake and maybe not. Then I got to this part:

...and nope.
I believe he was talking about a previous rumor (also on Reddit lol) which was about two controllers, one with a screen and one without. Not the fake patent controllers that we've seen.

Not that I would believe it already lol

Damn you, my team was working on 'Metroid X Donkey Kong Country' when our project was canned for your amiibo game D:<

Well, if your team hadn't rejected amiibo functionality for Metroid X DKC, it wouldn't have been cancelled! amiibo is where the $$$ is. ;) After MP:CF, I'm moving on to Excite Wagon. Yessir, we're taking the Excite series to the old west.

I'd pay for that. So fast.

Also, Reddit guy is leaking images now and will slowly reveal more each day.

Just to be clear; this is the reddit guy who was clearly talking bullshit from the start, and not the "mod verified" reddit guy.

Let's at least differentiate.

But either way, this thread is dead.

Yup. That's why I think 8GB is absolutely the best we can hope for when it comes to RAM.

There's really no point to go higher when barely anyone (especially Nintendo) will make full use of it.

What does this even mean? RAM is used as it's available. If they included a ton of RAM, devs would use a ton of RAM. What you're saying is nonsensical. There aren't any instances where less RAM is better. If a game can load more of its data into RAM that decreases loading, decreases popup and allows more "state" at a given time to be preserved.

How can you say Nintendo wouldn't use the RAM? Take XCX. The game had serious popup issues which would have greatly benefit from more RAM.

Take a game like Starfox where people have complained about the textures. More RAM would allow them to not have to make any sacrifices in texture detail because more of it would already be in RAM and quickly accessible and less would have to be loaded in. Faster RAM would also improve things as well

Someone explain this to me: it seems like some people are saying both are true

1) The console doesn't need to be x86 as it is not a big deal to port games designed with x86 in mind to ARM
2) the console and handheld need to both be ARM to have cross play

By the logic in 1), can't Nintendo easily make ARM and x86 versions of their games and thus have cross play?

They can still have cross play with different architectures, it's just way harder.

The key issue here is that application developers don't really have to worry about differences in architecture, but system developers do. Using multiple architectures would create a whole ton of extra work for Nintendo which generally isn't going to be worth it unless there's some huge benefit they're getting elsewhere.

Got to give a nod to Nintendo; if they're really into it they know how to keep things from leaking. We've been speculating from the announcement in 2015 and we haven't heard a single (confirmed) peep. Not even one.

And a nod to the whole industry this time. Just think about it, while we talk about this stupid fake leaks, there are working thousands of people on games, operating systems, online modes and whatever for the console. And no one is talking about it. Absolutly incredible. We knew everything about the XBox and PS4 but this time we are all Jon Snow.

Seriously, all we really know is it's new "dedicated game hardware with a brand new concept".

From there we have extrapolated:
- # of SKUs and their potential release dates by region
- the content pipeline strategy for the organization
- the launch lineup
- the CPU architecture
- features of the console based on patents
- red

We're awesome. Blows my mind that modern firms spend millions to get their employees to "think outside the box" and yet all of their design thinking is literally in the public domain right infront of their nose.

And, honestly, thank heavens for that. I love being surprised. I want to be floored when they unveil it. It doesn't matter if it will be a great or a bad reveal -- it will be unique, it will be entertaining.

Yeah, and something Iwata talked about is wanting to make their systems siblings again. Their handheld and home console have not been that in a long time because they kept moving away from that. It's clear they want to simplify the process as much as possible so that they don't struggle as much between their handheld and home console anymore.

I imagine some shared library, but I also think about connectivity with having their handheld version of a game interact with their home console version of the same game. Boy would I love to have Four Swords Adventure 2, or them making a special emulator that supports that kind of connectivity for VC.

Pac-Man Vs. 2 would also be cool.

It won't be easy to pronounce in all the different accents. Ending it with an x does that. Also it reminds me of "necks".

One of the biggest leaks re: XB PS4 resulted in a police raid. It's not something we should expect to be par for the course.

I'm starting to get a n64 feeling. I haven't felt excited like this since the Dreamcast. Maybe we are just so spoilt nowadays with let's play, longplays, videos, constantly complaining about whats crap etc etc...

Cranky Kong speech. Im my day we would get a magazine like CVG or Mean Machines once a month and be happy with it. AND dont even get me how excited I was with Bad Influence and GamesMaster on TV.

Nintendo are doing an excellent job by staying stum. I hope we all know nothing or totally mislead when this console or whatever it is gets announced.

I wonder where Occam's Razor lies here. I feel like the evidence and context supports the NX launching this year, but did Nintendo really become excellent at preventing smoke, or is there really no fire to go with the lack of smoke?

Nintendo Ninjas are efficient. Always have been.

Assume EVERYTHING is fake until told otherwise.

Well, CBOAT was right about 85% of his post's and verundus is pretty spot on most of the time.

Which is why I'm asking if these were verified, or if they are not since it was on reddit where these were leaked?

Sounds highly likely at the cost of what the tech is now for these kind of configs.

Most of the these leaks seems to be fake. The mods on Reddit are cracking down heavily on "leaks" since there's been an influx of contradicting ones. This leak seems to get more and more fake with each update. The guy who was verified on reddit seem to be leaking incorrect stuff too.

Whats scary is most people like myself want to see it so bad because we're scared of the Wii U type reveal. Whole quiet year then nothing at e3. I have never watched e3 2012 again. Only once. I will watch it this year took the bad taste out my mouth.

I'm trying hard not to feel this way. I love new console reveals, and the fact that Nintendo FINALLY might be putting out a relatively powerful console is really exciting.

Over the past few years, Nintendo has really given some solid kicks to the nuts of fans. The Nintendoland "One more thing" fireworks conference ending. Don't even get me started on last year's Animal Crossing gut punch. "New HD game? FINALLY! Wait...board game spaces? NOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I dont believe anything at this point. I can't wait till they officially unveil it. But even then I don't expect Nintendo to talk about specs. They will probably give something vague like "Radeon gpu' 'x gb memory'', '6 core amd cpu' that doesn't tell us anything.

Yeah, that was really bad. I think Nintendoland fire works was because they pulled a game out at the last second? Or not sure if that was just speculation but I hope they don't do that again.

There's a key difference, though. We already knew what was a Wii U, we had the official announcement with trailers, games, tech demos and promises of unprecedented partnership with EA back in 2011. So, E3 2012 was a re-reval. This time, though? Almost nothing aside from, strangely enough, some Square Enix games DQ producers revealed because they wanted to ( :lol ), SDK going around since October, Trevelyan's Zelda NX rumour. Still, a very low amount of infos overall and we don't know what NX actually is yet.

Also, scary as hell NDAs that surely are helping the overall silence, alongside the strong possibility that not all Western third parties are on board right from the start, let's face it; even if between Trev's schedule for broad devkit distribution, that game a few weeks ago in beta and coming to NX as leaked by a Gaffer verified by bishoptl and LCGeek's recent talk about the GPU, despite the possibly problematic current SDK, I'm more hopeful than before on that front.

Look at this guy, acting like he's EAD 1 or something. Just you wait until we release F-Zero 3D World, the sequel everyone in gaming is waiting for but just don't know it
:P

Im more hopeful but still. The thing with Nintendo is everyone loves to hop on the ride, then when its announced you sink or swim lol
