I'm pretty bored of all these NX 'rumours' by now. Anyone remember the Nintendo 'Revolution' headset? At the time, it looked like 'the future'.

NX's better than the XB1 which is better than the PS4's. Performance difference can be noticeable in some software, not all.

I wonder if this is the month where Nintendo will have a special event for the NX or maybe next month, if not then it'll definitely be E3. It will be good when we can finally get the real news and not all these speculations, rumours and claims. For all we know this is nonsense as well.

I don't know if there was ever any chance of that happening, given that Miyamoto said in an interview that the Wii U's CPU was a limiting factor for game development. Less indicative but still interesting is how much Nintendo upgraded the CPU in the n3DS. We won't get a powerhouse CPU, but I think we won't get another Wii U situation where the CPU is quickly identified as a barrier to game development relative to the rest of the specs.

The only thing these "leaks" do for me is make me want to watch Nintendo's announcement. Are we pretty sure they'll be announcing at E3? Or will they do a one-off sort of thing?

We really just don't know yet, Carl. It's possible they announce tomorrow that NX makes toast and plays games and comes out in November. It's possible they announce on October 1st that NX comes out in November. An E3 Direct as far as we know right now is just as likely as an E3 press conference, or a pre-E3 Direct or Press Conference, or any combination thereof, or something else entirely. What is likely is some form of information coming at the end of this month April 27/28 at the investor meeting. Whether we get much there, or anything before that, is anyone's guess.

I remember thinking that back then before Ocarina of Time came out. That was a loooong time waiting.
This game has me as excited as I was back then, and I'm sure the game will not match my hype, just like it happened to me back then.
 
I like how not only have we been talking about random unverified reddit rumors, but the one from the guy who's verification has been denied by reddit on multiple occasions is getting most of the attention. At least it seems to be just for the sake of hilarity at this point.

I'm going to be sad if NX somehow ends up being less powerful than PS4 and Xbone despite having a noticeably more powerful CPU (If true).

Not only that but 12GB of DDR3 RAM needs a 384-bit bus. There is no way any console manufacturer would use a 384-bit bus in a console. Cost prohibitive and down the line prevents you from easily making a slim version.

The BOM cost of the 4GB extra ram is better spent elsewhere, like the CPU and GPU.
 
Update 8 is from the leaker is pretty unbelievable.

He's a small time indie dev. How does he have access to the lineup of the NX and info on a direct?

Each increasing update seems like a desperate attempt to gain attention.

LCGeek is visually showing that the difference between the X1 and NX is much bigger than the difference between the X1 and PS4. If the X1's CPU is clocked 10% higher than the PS4 (is that right?), then its somewhere above 20% or so. He also bluntly said that the performance boost is noticeable.

But again, I still have my doubts for Nintendo keeping quiet until then, especially with the potential of getting overshadowed at E3. It'd be best for them to reveal the platform ahead of time on their own terms & not have to worry about Sony upstaging them with PSVR & PS4K.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would be shocked if that happened. My guess is they finally realized with Wii U that a system needs to be better than what they were putting out.

The huge gap is with reference to the consoles and desktop grade CPUs. He's saying that the gap between the PS4/NX in CPU processing power is noticeable but the gap between desktop grade CPUs and the consoles is huge- to the point where the difference between NX/PS4 is negligible compared to PC/Console.

Dev kits always have more ram for debugging and such. Sometimes twice as much. PS4 and XB1 dev kits ranged from 8-16GB. Don't read too much into the 12GB. It'll likely be 6-8 on 256-bit bus.

You know with that game in particular, it was actually a title that was considered for development, but did not get the light of day. Nintendo, Retro Studios, and other studios always have pitches internally but not all of them will come out.
