It’s either Mario Kart 9 or Final fantasy 9 as both are due around this point and it wouldn’t surprise me if FF9 is a traditional style remake rather than the slop that was FF7R and they’ve opted to put it on the most based system of the three at launch.

Hope there is also good launch titles, unlike this crap PS5pro.

Native 1080p is all I ask. If have 4k via DLSS will be a bonus.

How can the insider know it, if he didn't even turn the Switch 2 on?
He said he asked.

Also of note is that apparently there is some kind of gimmick in the analog sticks. This is inferred because an accessory manufacturer has said that they can’t make caps for the analog sticks like they did with the switch 1.

My guess is that they’ve got a capacitive sensor, just like the sticks and buttons on most VR controllers now. So basically it can tell when you’re touching (but not moving) the analog sticks. For what purpose, I have no idea. (Unless they’re planning on having the Switch 2 support VR.)

on the Steam Deck this is often used to turn on the gyro sensor.
you touch the stick and the sensor turns on, you let go and it turns off.

this allows for motion aiming similar to a mouse, instead of lifting up your mouse to reset your position, you lift up your thumb and reset.

"The Hall effect is the deflection of electrons in an n-type semiconductor with current flowing perpendicular to a magnetic field. The deflection of these charged carriers sets up a voltage, called the Hall voltage, whose polarity depends on the effective charge of the carrier."

Ok, sure.

The switch is awful ergonomically so this will be a dock only console

Hope they give it enough power and have some bangers at launch

Oddly this will be one of the smallest changes Nintendo has ever done for a console, doesn’t seem to do much more than have better specs

Not a good comparison. PS5 Pro is an upgrade. Switch 2 is a new console.

I don't think this is a new console at all, but I'll be glad to be wrong in this take.

Nintendo have zero reasons to jump to the next gen. The only think they need is BC. They are very confortable in this regards.
A premium machine would be a more appealing way of selling their best exclusives without abandoning their regular NS.

It's been rumored for so long that I had forgotten about the Switch 2 lol. Hopefully this rumor is true...

Switch sales are in decline, software sales are in decline, third party support is in decline... They have every reason to move to next gen.

And somehow Nintendo still release OLED Mario/Pokemon editions.

Again, saying is in decline doesn't mean is low. Just not as high as use to be.

There better be a game with "4" in the title at launch too!

I need my Prime time!

Prime 4 being cross gen will probably be used as the filler in summer or late spring.
Metroid never was a top seller after all.

my bet is Mario Kart 9 for launch, 3D Mario as the big holiday game, and in-between Prime 4, Splatoon 4, and maybe a surprise like a new F-Zero. so mid budget games to fill the year until Mario comes out.

I won't be surprised if they have MK9 at launch, but this is fake because it will be Mario Kart X. The Mario Kart tour is 9.

also not sure why they would need to bundle it.

I just think it’s a strange line of thought. But it’s moot since we already know it’s a next gen machine as Nintendo refers to it as “the successor to the Nintendo Switch” in their financial briefings.

I’m really concerned about how this dude twice stated that he was told the dock outputs 4k30. (Aka HDMI 1.4)

That either means that the Switch 2 will still be a 1080p only machine (because there’s no way Nintendo would sacrifice 60fps display on past games), or that whoever he was talking to had it wrong, and it’s 4k60.

It will 100% be a 1080 machine. If you are lucky it will upscale from there. If you don't like it. 🤷‍♂️ games are not about resolutions.

I agree that games will probably render at 1080, but I hope and expect that things like the main system menu and UI elements render at 4k. In no way do I think games will actually render at 4k, but I did expect the system to at least output to 4k.

There’s really no reason it shouldn’t.

I'm with you there. Outputting to 4k would make a world of difference on my oled. 👍

This is one of those things that I assumed would be a given. Obviously we’re not getting actual 4k 3D games, but there’s no reason why we can’t have 4k UIs, and even 4k 2D/retro games.

1080p just looks soft on a big OLED display. It’d be so nice if the Switch 2 at least outputted 4k.

The thing that’s so weird is that the leaker specified 4k30 twice, which means that’s what he was told by whoever was showcasing the Switch 2 to him. But 4k30 is assuredly not happening.

So either 4k30 is just their way of saying “HDMI 1.4”, which really means 1080p, or that person was just mistaken about the 30 part, and he was just saying that the Switch 2 can output 4k.
