I don't know, I'm not him, but turning it on wouldn't tell you if it was hall-effect or not. You can place a strong magnet near the control stick to see if it sticks to the magnets inside, or open the shell to check for them. How can the insider know it, if he didn't even turn the Switch 2 on?
No idea. But I don’t really know how it works or how to test for it, all I know is that the tech is used to prevent stick-drift.How can the insider know it, if he didn't even turn the Switch 2 on?
It is suspicious, but it’s also the first console developed and launched under their new management. So who knows.I call BS. No way Nintendo does something that makes sense and uses half effect joycons.
Please no. Remove that awful U.Switch U 2?
He said he asked. How can the insider know it, if he didn't even turn the Switch 2 on?
My guess is that they’ve got a capacitive sensor, just like the sticks and buttons on most VR controllers now. [...] For what purpose, I have no idea
Off topic, this is my favorite anime movie of all time!Nintendo lawyers right now:
Not a good comparison. PS5 Pro is an upgrade. Switch 2 is a new console.Hope there is also good launch titles, unlike this crap PS5pro.
Native 1080p is all I ask. If have 4k via DLSS will be a bonus.

I don't think this is a new console at all, but I'll be glad to be wrong in this take.
Switch sales are in decline, software sales are in decline, third party support is in decline... They have every reason to move to next gen.
There better be a game with "4" in the title at launch too!
I need my Prime time!
You stole my reply. Bravo.Mighty No 9 Remastered.
I just think it’s a strange line of thought. But it’s moot since we already know it’s a next gen machine as Nintendo refers to it as “the successor to the Nintendo Switch” in their financial briefings. And somehow Nintendo still release OLED Mario/Pokemon editions.
Again, saying is in decline doesn't mean is low. Just not as high as use to be.
It might be a bundle that’s $50 more vs regular Switch 2 or something. Doesn’t mean it’s gong to be a freebie.I won't be surprised if they have MK9 at launch, but this is fake because it will be Mario Kart X. The Mario Kart tour is 9.
also not sure why they would need to bundle it.
I hope not. I really hope they focus on one platform and not a bundle. It might be a bundle that’s $50 more vs regular Switch 2 or something. Doesn’t mean it’s gong to be a freebie.
No...that's not it.So Mario Kart 9 at launch then hopefully!
It will 100% be a 1080 machine. If you are lucky it will upscale from there. If you don't like it. games are not about resolutions.I’m really concerned about how this dude twice stated that he was told the dock outputs 4k30. (Aka HDMI 1.4)
That either means that the Switch 2 will still be a 1080p only machine (because there’s no way Nintendo would sacrifice 60fps display on past games), or that whoever he was talking to had it wrong, and it’s 4k60.

- Will be called Switch 2

- The screen is the same as the Deck
- The logo is a 2 next to the original text
- It's the final retail model
- There is something new in the joycons for creative experiences
- There is a game-themed switch that hasn't had one before
I agree that games will probably render at 1080, but I hope and expect that things like the main system menu and UI elements render at 4k. In no way do I think games will actually render at 4k, but I did expect the system to at least output to 4k.It will 100% be a 1080 machine. If you are lucky it will upscale from there. I wouldn't be shockec if 9 is announced at its presentation.Resident Evil 9?
I'm with you there. Outputting to 4k would make a world of difference on my oled.I agree that games will probably render at 1080, but I hope and expect that things like the main system menu and UI elements render at 4k. There’s really no reason it shouldn’t.

This is one of those things that I assumed would be a given. Obviously we’re not getting actual 4k 3D games, but there’s no reason why we can’t have 4k UIs, and even 4k 2D/retro games.I'm with you there. Outputting to 4k would make a world of difference on my oled.
It’s worked pretty well for PlayStation, iPhone, Meta Quest, etc. It’s basically an upgraded version of the OG Swtich, not a completely different thing so it’s probably the best option here.Switch 2? Lame.
