That sounds kind of disappointing. I wanted a Switch 2, but not the same device with just a little more power.
I have been following the leaks very loosely.I mean, everything pointed towards this for more than a year, because we knew that's what it's gonna be for at least that long. the only difference now is that we have, what is essentially the final design of it as well.

I'm glad they're calling it the Switch 2, especially since it apparently looks almost identical to the Switch 1.
If they would've tried pulling some "Switch U" shit we'd have Wii->Wii U esque consumer confusion all over again.
Good good good. But for love of god can he not confirm whether there is an OLED model at launch???
Pretty sure in the Reddit thread guy responded with "think lasers" so I think pointer controls are back! The top side of the joycon when detached has a surprise feature. Oh and the magnets themselves are buttons.
Sounds interesting, maybe you can attach joycons together or IR? If they are releasing a Mario Kart bundle maybe they are for gimmicky real kart controlling. "Think lasers" though not sure if it was about the button or the top of the joycon.

Probably..Pikmin 4 Deluxe
Zelda in 60fps please with cloud saves importing so I can resume my play session.
Do it pussies.
Nintendo would never name a console along the same thought lines as Wii to Wii U/ DS to 3DS ever again. The lessons were learned, hard. They’ve said so many times. There was never a chance it wouldn’t be something very clear and very simple to convey exactly what the console is without needing to explain it, or leave any room for potential confusion.I'm glad they're calling it the Switch 2, especially since it apparently looks almost identical to the Switch 1.

It’s a start but there needs to be something big splashy and single-player to draw the early adopters. Obviously not Zelda this time. Metroid prime 4 and MK9 would be an incredible launch day lineup, though. If that happens, holy crap.MK 9 is the perfect launch title.
Ehhh This is a bit of revisionism. SNES cut the console userbase by a third from what the NES sold, and it was a much shorter generation as well. Needed replacement sooner. As much as I love SNES, it struggled to keep Nintendo dominant.Doing the same thing two gens in a row hasn't worked for Nintendo since NES-SNES.
Oh well day one.
Been 7 years since a new game from EPD Tokyo (3D Mario team). Where’s the next Odyssey? Bowser’s Fury was a very small game.MK9 and MP4 as launch titles? Say no more!
It came way later and outsold a more than healthy selling genesis/megadrive.Ehhh This is a bit of revisionism. And as others have said, Sony’s done it every time and it’s not hurt them at all.
What if it is Mortal Kombat 9?Mario Kart 9 as a launch title is obvious
Totally. And as long as the system has physical backwards compatibility I'll buy on day one, too. It’s a start but there needs to be something big splashy and single-player to draw the early adopters. % it does. I believe they’ve already confirmed it. But if not, it’s basically a certainty.Totally. And as long as the system has physical backwards compatibility I'll buy on day one, too.
With the new pokemon Legends game within the launch window, I’m pretty hyped for the next systemMK9 and MP4 as launch titles? Say no more!
I think they just said it would have bc, but didn't clarify if that just meant the eShop or also physical media. Wish they'd clear that one up, unless they have and I just don't know about it. One would think it will be, because it would piss off so many people if it was just digital bc.% it does. I believe they’ve already confirmed it. But if not, it’s basically a certainty.
GB/GBC to GBAWouldn’t be the first time for Nintendo.
Wouldn’t be the first time for Nintendo.
Since he mentioned lasers in the joycons, I suppose wiimote like functionality.
Looking forward to the next big AAA Zelda game.
How can the insider know it, if he didn't even turn the Switch 2 on?
I'm glad they're calling it the Switch 2, especially since it apparently looks almost identical to the Switch 1.

They’ve been pretty consistent in delivering at least one Zelda game per year, so sure. I’d expect plenty of stuff in-between. New 2D installment, new warriors game, remakes, remasters etc.I'm hard predicting a 3D Zelda Remake before 2028.
I'm talking about a full remake of Ocarina, Majora, Twilight, or Waker. To fill the gap before next gen Zelda.
They will launch an OLED model a year or 2 later im 100% sure. They gonna milk that console for 7+ years
Speculation: Mario Kart 9 is a launch title and Mario 3D will have a fall/winter launch just in time for a big push for the 2025 holiday season. It would make sense to release MK9 as their leading title, as MK8 Deluxe is their biggest selling title eclipsing even Mario Odyssey.Dude if they launch with a new 3D mario and MK9... holy fuck
