nobody cares about this fake battle on a demo. It doesn't mean people bought Sweeney's excuses on Twitter. And it doesn't even mean that I must begin to believe in donkeys that fly. The demo ran at the presentation on the ps5 at 30fps with that quality shown.Is fantastic! it's ok is really great. period. The engineer said the exact same demo (he never has mentioned the quality of the assets)could ran on a laptop with a Sam 870 ssd and a 2080 with 10 frames advantage over the ps5. He talked about resolution 1440 and 40fps he talked also about cpu usage during the demo. You will understand for yourself (unless you are a computer illiterate) that it is not perfomance info that you would give while playing a video. Especially if given by those who worked on the creation of the demo. I don't want to repeat it another 100 times. Everyone knows that the engineer was right. they know the interview was removed from online because it created problems for Epic in relation to Sony and they know that Sweeney on Twitter acted like someone as soon as he woke up who did not understand what he was talking about.
Of course you are free to believe what you want. But also ask yourself why for the first time an EU tech demo is not released on PC;)

mall you can do so far is provide tweets praising the ps5 but no evidence it cannot run on Xbox the same

?? What's known is PS5 is said to have removed those features and replaced them with their own using the programmable GE.

Why would they spend R&D time and effort on customising if they didn't think they have a better solution. Would have been easier just to go with off the shelf.

Vrs is already being used on pc & XsX, PS5 GE is yet to be exploited.
Geometry engine and Mesh shaders are not the same thing.

Geometry Engine is the same as Primitive shaders.
 
But it should be noted that this is the same epic that stood up on stage during the ps3 unveiling and said that the machine was easy to work with. When the reality was far from that
Sure, but I see the settings now a bit different from that one (E3 stage spotlight vs UE5 demo from Epic) and we have seen presentations about the HW in more detail. UE3 had problems ramping up on both consoles (ask D.Dyack for laughs and giggles) and it is even possible that there were some bits they liked as engine makers (GPU tooling by nVIDIA and even the SPU's, regardless of the fact that the easy way to get RSX performance yielded a lot lower ceiling than Xenia did).

Still, I see your point, but not to the extent of being so out to get Epic (that strongly supported the Xbox 360 too in actions as well) as I see some people after 10 years and evidence why what Sweeney is saying sounds reasonable.

all you have provided is praise about the ps5 in tweets but nothing about how the Xbox can't run it the same or that it would be scaled down..

The whole "primitive shaders vs mesh shaders" issues comes from those people from Digital Foundry that are not professional developers and barely know what they are talking about.

if that was the case then explain how the Unreal Engine 5 tech demo was running on a PS5 without mesh shaders?

Actually it uses both: the software renderer for the micro polygons and the primitive shaders for the bigger polygons.

I do not have proof that XSX could never run that demo at all, not claiming this nor have I been claiming it. I already stated what I claimed on my answer to Leyasu.

You have a piece of tech that is heavily I/O reliant and statements by Epic that highlighted how significant is the push done by Sony in that regard and how the collaboration with Sony convinced them to refactor their I/O code to take advantage of this. Given that you do not want to see XSX lose in any metric in a way that means anything/cannot be trivialised, or so it seems, all of that is explained by either Epic lying/misleading or some other flight of fancy.

Then maybe both MS and Sony made some stupid mistakes to get loud PR points on their side and neither can flex their advantage on the other, have your pick :).

Not sure what kind of Pyrrhic victory we are celebrating here beyond the "Epic has not directly stated XSX cannot run this demo as well as PS5 did (they did not really comment on XSX much if at all regarding that demo)" point you wanted to score.

This topic has been hilarious read so far and I was just about to post this. Days Gone uses UE4 and they put some customizations into. Days Gone 2 will likely use UE5 and implement their own customizations. With them making even greater I:O optimizations for UE5, the engine will likely yield greater boons for Bend Studio than UE4 did.

Where do those numbers come from? It all depend of the size of the polygons. No all games will look like that U5 demo that was just that: a technical demo.

You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to it. I'm serious, i literally can't wait to see the excuses that Epic will find to justify the (superior) performance on pc because you know gpu's are always the most important piece of the puzzle. And like in the dieshot thread it'll end up that i was right again

Mesh shading will be extremly important in the future and I hope it will get used as soon as possible.

Also there's no point in Sony fanboys wars. Sony has very likely made major primitive shading adjustements to ensure their geometry engine comes close to mesh shading on Xbox and PC.

When one of the demo engineer who clearly knows what he's talking about itself say "the actual demo can run on a notebook with this ssd and this gpu at this resolution with this cpu usage better than ps5" (10fps) you can be sure he is talking about the same actual demo .

Sweeney said an embarassing bs who insulted the engineer himself to hide the truth.Then moved to make remove the interview. No one trusted him on twitter or b3d the only ones I have heard believe the nonsense that sees the engineer talking about how better a VIDEO of the demo can run at 40fps on pc, are sony fans. Obviously because they likes to think that the ps5 can somehow have some secret sauce even with respect to the PC as well as the Xbox. A lot of what was said by Sweeny was PR talk after receiving £250 mill from Sony for shares in epic

i been initially silenced after mods read up everything i have been unsilenced just because I was right as Locuza, leviathan, Stanard vs ethomaz the dieshot itself and all analyzes have shown. I'm no longer interested in that thread there is little to discover in the dieshot at this point.

Its funny after praising the PS5 so much at the release of the demo they have been extremely quiet about it, no stat released no talk of how it would run on xbox or a decent pc. The talk was all PR for PS5

Agree with that and perfectly fine they PR'ed the PS5 but it only came out afterwards that sony had invested so it made it more clear. As i said in this thread a few times what was more important was what was NOT said about the demo running on other hardware, nowhere did they claim it couldn't run as well on xbox or anything. There was no mention of xbox at all which backs up its more important what was not said

I totally agree and I can't wait to see amd's dlss in those consoles,hoping it's at least half as good as dlss.
This gen will probably improve more than any other previously.
