Reggie Fils-Aime on Xbox One/PS4 lineups: "Meh"

I agree with Reggie.

KZ SF, meh. I got KZ2 and while I enjoyed the campaign it was not an amazing experience.
DriveClub, meh.
Knack, meh.

The better games are all Multiplat IMO.
BF4, WD, AC4, CoD Ghosts

pfffffffffffffffffffffft.

What is the issue with W101 exactly?

Lol, as a Nintendo fan Reggie is always pissing me off. Talk up WW all he wants, but do so in context. Talk about how it's going to be the best HD rerelease, but name dropping a 10 year old game in front of new ones is just silly. Their present will soon be their past and it's not going to be as fond to recollect as what they're pulling out of the garage now.

On one hand I think W101 and DK are going to be better then anything coming out for PS4/Xbox One this holiday season.

On the other hand you're comparing launch titles to titles from the second holiday season for the Wii U. Which isn't exactly a fair comparison.
Nintendo hit the IP lottery. If Sony and Microsoft came out here talking about "We've got Halo"/"We got Uncharted" after like 20 years of spin offs and appearances every year for the last 20 years, they've be laughed out of the room.
To be fair Microsoft used Halo as a cornerstone for games to hype Xbox One and that franchise is coming up on being 12 years old. Microsoft will still be trotting out Halo in 2021 if the money is there.

Haha he actually said Meh. Perfect.
I mean hes right, the day one launch of either systems isnt exactly enticing. The more exciting stuff is coming to the current generation.

I agree with him. I also consider most/all next gen games shown to be meh to my interests.

But I would add that WiiU's current and known future software are pretty meh as well. So he's no one to judge if you ask me.

The internet would be so much easier if you take things in stride. Things will settle down a few months after these consoles are out. Before next gen announcements, this place was fairly tame.

I guess to me, the Wii U looks like a better option. I do agree with Reggie, there are more games I want. But whatever, everyone's different. The war over this in this thread is ridiculous.

You're either extremely blind and need your eyes check or you SERIOUSLY overestimate what the Ps3 or 360whatever can do. But considering the quality of posts when it comes to consoles I'm honestly not surprised.

I wasn't saying it looked bad at all. It looked good. I just don't think it was the most amazing mind blowing visuals some are propping it up to be.

PlayStation will be 20 next year and none of the games from the PS1 appear on the ps4, very few appeared on ps3 and as a platform the PlayStation received the mist solid selling new IP's of the three.

They still are on PS, the difference is that they are multiplatform now and those that didn't sell continuous didn't continue which is my point in the first place.

Considering most of the fall software that's appealing to me from the Xbox One and PS4 launches are also available on the PC, I'm going to agree with Reggie on this one.

From an exclusives only point of view, the Wii U line up (with the 3DS line up) is more interesting than the PS4 and Xbox One exclusive line ups.

I don't know if I'd call the other systems launches "meh", but I do agree Nintendo has a pretty strong lineup for the rest of the year. I'm certainly looking forward to a bunch of Wii U games this year and most are exclusive to the system which is a nice bonus. It's the reason I buy all the systems every generation after all. To get the games I can't play anywhere else. PS4 and Xbox One both have some great looking titles coming out at launch and I wish I had the time to buy both at launch and enjoy everything. So many great looking games coming out in a short time period.

I do agree on the PS4/One launch software. If I could play some of Nintendo's games on PS4/One hardware I'd be interested. However, I just look at the Wii U hardware, and think "meh".

Gotta do his job, so props for trying.

You are doing it wrong if you look at the hardware, it is all about the games.

Well they haven't even come out so yeah you are right.

I completely agree with him. It's all about the games and the fun. And so far this year's games line-up is - objectively - the most appealing one.
Y know, it's all about the games, but next gen games are automatically a lot more appealing to me because they look so much better.

They're on record as saying they were given a choice to do either Metroid or Donkey Kong and they chose to do Donkey Kong on their own. They weren't "reduced" to anything.

It still comes down to. Well nevermind what it comes down to. Nintendo of America has one great studio, and whether they chose it or not, they are making new versions of 2d Rare games. Where are the other studios? What is that creepy ass Reggie doing for Nintendo. Outside of just looking at Nintendo fans with those creepy dead eyes. Like dolls eyes...

Reggie: "My body is ready."

you get the point though, that he's basically calling all the big 3rd party games shit. He probably didn't do it on purpose, though.

That's the funniest part. He just said meh to Ubisoft, EA, and Activision. And people wonder why Wii U still doesn't get third party support. And before people jump at me with, "it was probably just a PR line he had to say," that makes it so much worse! That means the official Nintendo statement on major third party supporters is 'meh'. Definitely not the smartest thing to say for someone in his position.

I'm surprised he didn't say that his body was not ready for the launch lineup, he seems to be really driving that joke into the ground lately.

"We’ve got Zelda. We’ve got Mario. We’ve got Donkey Kong."

Go back 20 years and you'll hear the same thing.

Go back 20 years and see a few 1st party Sony IP's that dropped off the map over time and are either stagnant or inactive.

Go back 20 years and find Microsoft's Xbox console line hadn't existed until 2001.

Ayup.

So what? Is wanting something different somehow bad?

Agreed. And Reggie is taking a page directly out of Apple's book with the "we don't talk tech, we talk about experiences" line. (though not quite as subtle)

It's hard to disagree. I'm hyped as hell for my PS4, but the Wii U has a much stronger line up this fall.

I look at our lineup of titles and I feel good about our lineup. We’ve got Zelda. We’ve got Mario. We’ve got Donkey Kong. In addition to great titles like Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101, I feel very good about our lineup

I agree it's a killer lineup. It just took a year to finally get a lineup Reggie.

I wasn't saying it looked bad at all. It looked good. I just don't think it was the most amazing mind blowing visuals some are propping it up to be.

Well, it's one thing to say it's not "the most amazing mind blowing visuals some are propping it up to be" (who?), and another to say it looks like it can be done on current consoles. Killzone: Shadow Fall without hyperbole literally smangs every current gen game from every single technical perspective. After that we're merely talking about the art.

you get the point though, that he's basically calling all the big 3rd party games shit. He probably didn't do it on purpose, though.

Reggie is just trying to exude confidence, Nintendo is probably shitting themselves over this Holiday. If this price cut doesn't work at all and they're still dominated this holiday, Wii U is just fucking dead until Mario Kart.

Honestly, I am looking forward the WiiU lineup more and I am getting the PS4 at launch. I can safely say that the experiences I'll be playing on the WiiU will feel more fresh and unique to me than the experiences on the PS4. But hey, I'll happily enjoy both. I'm excited for the rest of the year gamewise in general and most of those titles do indeed happen to be on the WiiU.

Well they haven't even come out so yeah you are right.

Well we know what the launch line ups are. If I didn't already own a Wii U and had to make a choice about what console to get first this fall, I'd rather get a Wii U. It's cheaper and it has it'll have it's better games out now.

Rather wait on a PS4/Xbox One until next year when more first party titles come out.

The graphics are pretty awesome. I will not buy it because it is killzone and I refuse to be fooled into buying a game from these guys again.

Yeah, technically, it looks really striking in some parts but it doesn't look like anything new.

At least Titanfall is throwing some wrenches into the genre even if not turning it on its head.

But when it's all said and done, Nintendo SHOULD have the best lineup this fall/holiday as they have been working on these games for years and years.

I'm personally laughing at the fact that he fell for this headline click bait question.
C'mon Reggie. You know better than feeding them this type of crap lol
There was a time when Reggie was a name that commanded respect on enthusiast gaming forums.

He's right

It's a prety meh lineup if you're not into the dudebro stuff.

Then again so was the WiiU lineup at launch.

That said WiiU's lineup this fall is prety amazing.
