Wow, what an awesome trailer. I gotta see this in the theater tomorrow. WOW! My favorite part has to be the Wookies, Chewbacca YAY! Man, the wait for this movie is going to be horrible. Blargh.

So, did they bring back James Earl Jones to voice Vader, or are they just altering someone else's voice?
In an interview, James called Lucas asking if he gets any work, and i guess there is something at the end of the movie voiced by James.

Sweet. I hadn't heard anything about his status, so that's good to hear.

And so we reach the end game. So much has to be covered in this movie that I am firmly convinced that there is absolutely no way lucas can screw it up. Its just unpossible.

A lot of people said that about Episode II and that was a flawed Star Wars movie at best.

From the Wookie howl to Vader rising to the droids on Tantive IV, there was such a nostalgic flow.

This movie is going to connect the PT to the OT flawlessly.

Couldn't say that about Episode 2 because there was one more movie afterwards. There are no more movies after this. They have to wrap up a bagillion lose ends such as the killing of the jedi, the senate, the forming of the imperial fleet, the death star, etc. There is going to be a crap load of goodness in this one - there just has to be.

Eh, I'm seeing the Incredibles at the Cinerama in Seattle on Saturday, I'll just wait to see the trailer until then. Besides, huge cinerama screen > dinky quicktime window.

I believe he is one of the separatist leaders.

The only place AOTC is flawed is that they didn't have at least one decent actor involved in the romance. well, they did (portman) but she turned in a pretty stiff performance for some reason...

AOTC as a concept and as a story are excellent for what it is.. just another "partial" piece to a grander story.

The only thing lucas kind of failed on IMHO is that each of the first three movies (OT) can be watched really without much context... the PT reall can't. neither existing movie of the PT can really stand very well on its own. Does this make them lesser movies? I don't know, HOWEVER, taken in context of the entire PT and certainly in the context of the entire saga, the PT is far from flawed..

well, aside from some lousy acting moments.. but all the movies have those. :\

just my two cents.

I so wanted Ep.3 to look more oldskool than just those scenes (and the Tie fighter jet sound fx). There's obviously going to be more throwback bits in the movie, but this teaser suggests it gonna look ultra-colorful, like the rest of the PT and unlike the OT. So I personally wouldn't use the word 'flawlessly.'

The one part I didn't like about the trailer was the whole Vader bondage scene. Looked like something from an S&M tape :)

It takes place just three years after Ep. II and 19 years before Ep. IV.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
If anything that trailer made me want to go watch the original series trilogy DVD set I picked up a bit back... that New Hope footage of Obiwan looked crystal clear....

AND? Doesn't mean they couldn't turn down the saturation a notch for a better transition to the 70s series.

It's supposed to look more like the previous movies than the old trilogy.

Well, the colors in the DVD release have gotten a boost to match the new trilogy better.

I can't help feeling underwhelmed at the teaser itself, although I do think when taken in pieces it gives me much hope for the final film and the full sequences. I just don't think it's a very well crafted teaser.

a separatist leader. do you want an exact name?

He isn't a separatist leader. He's the leader of a planet that harbors a fugitive Obi-Wan who has to hide when shit hits the fan. The character is played by Bruce Spence who was the Trainman in Matrix and the Mouth of Sauron in ROTK.

Alec Guiness:

For over 20 years the Star Wars Trilogy was the greatest movie trilogy of all time ... before the dark times, before the prequels ... Lucas was seduced by the dark side of special effects ....

;)

I hope Lucas can turn back to the good side for this film, but I'm keeping expectations in check. All the prequels have had good trailers.

So all the reports about using 70s hairstyles and computer lights/buttons/switches was a load of crap or what?

Anyway, this is the first time I've seen post-production shots of the movie after reading months of text descriptions, so I expected to see more of a mesh of styles between the the OT and PT. My expectations were a bit too high I guess.

And the new DVDs suck.

There wasn't going to be an exact style match, I mean really part of the reason the original 1977 Star Wars looks like that is because they simply didn't have any budget.

ESB and ROTJ are much more colorful than ANH.
