Reports on Russian connections to Trump [Summaries in OP] #GoldenShowers

BTW, the only thing 4chan is claiming they did is the golden shower story, not any of the actual illegal stuff in the document.

That doesn't make any sense. The piss stuff is part of the overall report. Are they trying to say they actively altered the report and inserted that in, but the rest is legit?

...so? Carl Bernstein makes it substantiated?

Many other news US outlets have "Unsubstantiated Report" in their headline. For example NYT:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/10/...n-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0

If you have enough evidence there is nothing stopping you.

The sources are those that Carl Bernstein has access to. It's unsubstantiated by other news organizations. Every major news outlet is probably working their asses off to get something about this themselves, and if/when they do, then this really blows up.

Re Cohen meeting in Prague: Why do I feel like the strategy for the Trump team if indeed this stuff is true would be to find anything in the report, could be ANY one thing that was wrong and use that to disprove the whole thing? That'd be my strategy anyway, coupled with the Fake News line.

i thought the comparison was appropriate because:
1) trump frequently and at great length expounds on the influence his father had on him; he was in many senses the golden boy, groomed from early age for success and power. another word for golden boy is "boy king". "anointed" is another word for someone poised and groomed for success.
2) trump was elected in part thanks to supporters who create hagiographic images of him, including those of him with a halo around his head, and refer to him as a king, emperor, or god.
3) trump crassly embraces performative christianity for votes despite not apparently having any sincere engagement with faith; he is ultimately sacrilegious to an extreme. his personal brand is all about mammon, money, excess, and commercialism.
4) this is a thread about how trump likes being dunked in piss (or just watching people piss, it's unclear from context)
5) despite the fact that the real story here is Russian intelligence helping Trump's campaign and attempting to get leverage on him to manipulate him, the sensational distraction is the getting dunked in piss

the artwork piss christ is a statement about the commercialization and commodification of christianity, as well as the hysteria surrounding icons and images. this fits in very well with who trump is, as above. also it's art of jesus being dunked in piss and we don't often have threads about people getting dunked in piss.

to the extent that piss christ was read as provocative and anti-christian, i feel the comparison is directly relevant, because any christian should surely be mortified by the behaviour discussed here; which is the graver threat to christianity? a piece of art that, at worst, disrespects plastic jesus, or a living icon to everything christianity ought guard against?

i actually honestly thought the post and the parallels would be obvious

Pro tip to anyone trying to discredit this via Eichenwalt and 4chan

Eichenwalt is an idiot and a nut (650k emails don't fit on a laptop lol) and 4chan is 4chan

His argument is that his "tech" people say there can't be 650K emails on a laptop? Who are these tech people..

His tech people sound like they worked on computers that had tape reels and took up an entire floor of an office building if they think 650k emails, most of which are likely text only, can't fit on a single computer.

I get that most of GAF finds the idea of religion laughable but there's nothing funny about this post.

Piss Christ was made by a devout catholic

Edit: probably better to say the guy was actually religious and criticizing the church for distorting Jesus' message

I mean, that's pretty much the Trump team MO. Find a little doubt, and then deflect, deflect, deflect. Deflect to the dishonest media, the dishonest intelligence community, the dishonest reality around them, etc.

Their claim is they sent it to Rick Wilson, who talked to someone else, who put it in the report. Not saying this is true, that is just their story.

Thats a good symbolism, but I doubt most people can have understood what you mean easily.

The most underrated part of this leak is that Trump and his associates were voluntarily giving Putin and the FSB intelligence on Russian businessmen residing in the US in exchange for intel on Hillary.

This is great. Thank you for explaining the finer arts.

(It indeed was obvious. Just surprised you did it of all people)

I get that most of GAF finds the idea of religion laughable but there's nothing funny about this post.

It's kind of a meta-joke.

Piss Christ is used to illustrate something that is or isn't art. Piss Christ, as base and low-brow as it is, communicates an idea that resonates with its audience. Meaning, as crass as Piss Christ is, it is still art. It's used as a reminder that art has a function - to communicate an idea - and there are no rules in how that idea is communicated. It's used to help critics keep perspective when reviewing various forms of media. Just because something is a comic book or a zombie movie or South Park or a jar of pee, it doesn't mean it can't be art.

Piss Christ itself is a joke because people hate it but they have to accept it. It's so basic and easy and dumb, but it works.

Maybe you knew all this already, though. I just wanted to explain it in case you thought it was just some religious tear down. The artist originally was making a comment about religious iconography being cheapened (the crucifix itself is plastic).

I also see Stump has clarified their intention below.
