Yeah statement about Bernie retracted. I read his police proposals and he's definitely more a reformist than an abolitionist.

I haven't seen quite as much stanning for Biden though but maybe I've been missing something. The energy around Biden doesn't even remotely resemble whatever energy Hillary had back in 2016 as far as ERA is concerned. I always got more of a resentment vibe because he wasn't Bernie to begin with.

I do think some are trying to hype Biden up but ERA definitely isn't united in that front.

There were accusations against EviLore that tried to paint him as a creep, the SJW mods started a mutiny which ended up with them forming resetera and telling everyone to get there and for a few weeks everyone tried to out-edge themselves insulting Evilore by leaving stupid goodbye messages.

What followed was the sane people left behind + newcomers forming the forum you see now.
Ah, yes and Resetera holding the proud record of averaging something like 3-4 bans a day for wrongthink (or was it more, can't exactly remember).

I was gone for social justice-ey reasons around the same time as well. I didn't know REE was an even worse place as I was mostly hanging out in gaming subforums (you know, just talking about games). But I kept seeing more and more fake justice on gaming side and realized (I know, way too late) that I jumped from a frying pan into the fire. By chance I just wanted to check out how GAF is nowadays and to my surprise, it completely reformed. I thought it was unsalvageable and didn't think it was possible to weed out an entire wrongthink community and it's moderators (who enforced this wrongthink mentality).

I'm all for human rights and being humanitarian and I think most of society is. But trying to achieve that goal and start spreading hate does not go together. I think it's people who completely missed their mark and forgot what they were fighting for in the first place. Hate is not the answer and only spreads more hate and these people are becoming what they are pointing their fingers at. And when these hatemongers start banning people who mostly argue to accept everyone with open arms, it's not that hard to see who are the bad guys. And while there's surely a percentage that's enjoying their power trips in their small bubbles, I mostly think (or want to believe) that most people had a bad experience in their life, made the wrong conclusion and got stuck in that bubble (which will never heal them) that keeps them thinking that way. I feel more pity for most than anything. Expressing more hate won't make anyone happy, especially themselves.

It's weird knowing that what I typed above is probably like stepping on a minefield back in the day on GAF or still now on Era. I really love what GAF has become (though people should be a little bit less console war-ry IMO, but it's bearable).

This is the most annoying thing about the people that fall into the bracket of activists. None of us now everything and certainly don't have a handle on the complexities of the details etc. but you can have enough of a grounding by certification or by reading books and key documents to at least speak from a position of education. If you're going to participate in 'heavy' discussions then there is a baseline you need to meet to be taken seriously. That's why half of their idea's or suggestions sound so naive and only ever consider an immediate issues. As soon as you say well, as good as that sounds you can't because.......BANNED, dismising concerns

I think I heard about the social contract in 5th grade when learning about the founding fathers and their political influences. Might have been middle school but it was certainly before I got to high school. And I live in the south which has notoriously shit schools.
